  1. I know it is probably lame.....but I use FB to recall what I did when now. As someone that just moved, and who is striving toward minimalism, it is astounding how many "mementos" I had in my house that I hadn't looked at in years. They were nearly all sold, donated, recycled, or thrown out. It is very freeing. I'm guessing most on this thread wouldn't agree.
  2. My goal with the "house money" was to make 1-2% between now and 6-9 months from now, with some "certainty".....so I could have it available to maybe buy a house or condo......and now I've made more than 1%.....but have no desire to sell and lock it in.......still lots of dividends to come, and maybe more gains (or losses).
  3. Yup....and the announcement was not great, so my first "bet" is a one day loser so far.....but EVERY other stock I own was up this am, so who cares!
  4. Great stuff, thanks to both of you for doing this! Good luck sir.
  5. And? Who says they will use it on a pitcher? Who says they will use it at all?
  6. Just bought more activision before their earnings announcement......let's see how this goes..... Nvidia.....just keeps going up.
  7. I think he is non-tendered if he STINKS, or if Hughes is healthy and they expect him to start next year (uh, ya, no....).
  8. Well, that Jay news is less than exciting......hoping for the best.
  9. I am much more excited about the pitchers than the hitters in AA or AAA.....but if Buxton can't hit at all, Granite or Wade MIGHT hit enough, though I am skeptical. I don't see Walker doing much in the majors, and I think the jury is out on Vielma's ability to hit..... OTOH, I think Gonsalves, Stewart, Jay and Jorge area all legit MLB prospects, and Meija will start games in MN next year. The RPs need something to change in development, but there is talent.....
  10. You need to put some value on the flexibility....it isn't zero. Also, if you own the business, 9MM more in money is nothing to sneeze at, and in a season you aren't going to compete, and can't buy a good FA, more profit = good. Finally, Meyer is almost 28......he has pitched like 40 innings in the last 12 months......he has been hurt a lot over his time here, he's tall, he can't control his pitches..... Yes, there is a lottery ticket there, but is that lottery ticket really worth much at all?
  11. Does Meyer need to be on a roster next year? I don't know....but that would influence my grade in favor of the Twins.....
  12. Hard to understand how Boshers and Milone are on the roster, with all that success in AAA......Milone won't be here next year, let's see what these young guys have.
  13. Ah, well, I am working today........and haven't read it all yet. I said between B and B+, before I knew about the money going over with Nolasco. I still think it is a B. A- seems a biiiiiiiiit generous to me, but I'll read the article later and see.
  14. Wait, who said amazing? Didn't most here give him around a B?
  15. Agreed, unless you make a trade. That said....if I'm the owner, I like the extra 9MM....if Santiago is not good enough to be kept.
  16. If your manager doesn't give you positive feedback for doing your job.....you are working for the wrong manager. Doing his job should get him accolades and positive feedback.
  17. I'd bet Santiago is not tendered a deal, or is traded, unless he is really good here this year....saving the team around 8MM dollars or so......right now, I'd sell Meyer for 8MM and get a guy that might be a good pitcher, if he can keep outperforming his more predictive stats....
  18. It makes it even funnier, doesn't it?
  19. Another look at it: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/twins-and-angels-swap-throwers-meyer-and-busenitz/
  20. It was a great day for both of them.......for sure. I've been on the Max train (ha, in Portland the Max is the mass transit) since day one......
  21. We might not care about the money.....but the GM and owners do. I can't fault them for giving themselves the flexibility of getting out of some of that money if they want........ So, ya, a DFA might have been nice......and Meyer might surprise us all.....but was that likely here, in MN?
