  1. someone literally posted up thread that next year Buxton could be better than Trout. Do people really think Buxton is going to be better than Trout?
  2. I do agree, the key take away from that game is that the Yankees are probably just plain better than the Twins overall.....
  3. So, they just had no chance? I don't buy that. Stop giving away outs to start....
  4. This is what you get when you invest and try to win, versus always building for the future. Maybe some year, maybe some year
  5. Sigh. Investing in the bullpen, and trading for good pitching. Who would have thought that was a good idea? At least we have them a free out....
  6. someone posted that Buxton should be dumped, like, off the team?
  7. agreed. though they did hire a new hitting coach, which I do think has had an effect.
  8. in case you miss it in the other thread....a similar, though different take on "everyone helping: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-twins-are-slugging-their-way-to-october/
  9. but people place different values on different things. Some like comfort, some like challenge. Some like consistency, some like new things. some like fast cars, some like fuel efficiency. They are literally placing a different value on different things....because they value them differently. So, of course they are different.
  10. ok, they are rating systems that use different formulas and data, so of course they don't match. Better? You implied they are bad because they don't match. I am merely pointing out they don't match because they are literally measuring different things, so being different makes sense. They literally place a different value on different measures.
  11. Agreed 100% on this, on the Twins, Mauer is 100% the comeback player of the year.
  12. Uh, they are actual statistics, they are literally different statistics, so they should have different numbers. right?
  13. Hard to say. I saw the 2nd half last night, so between us we saw it! The first year of TNG was pretty bad....but they stuck with it.
  14. 100% different situations between the 5th/6th inning choices and the first inning choices, right?
  15. Did anyone watch Orville last week?
  16. well, I'm talking about Wade as a player, not as a Twin.....but sure, being LH doesn't help much with being a Twin right now.
  17. the question also could be, why not steal with Buck? And, once you get first and second, a sacrifice makes even more sense.....if you are playing for 1 or 2 runs there. I'm not going to kill a manager for sacrificing with bad hitters after inning 7. I'm going to question doing so with Rosario with Vargas on deck....after wondering why you don't try a steal.
  18. agreed on that last part for sure. I have no issue with a guy that bunts well, and runs, trying to get a bunt hit. None.
  19. If he's not good enough to be on a MLB roster at 29....why would you want him around next year (assuming we care about having a backup 1B/DH in AAA, for a team that is hopefully playoff worthy, which we should)? Terrible teams should take more chances on minor league guys that have been good/great, but not received a chance. If even 1 hits like lightning in a bottle, you can trade him. If they are bad, you can send them to the minors w/o problem/sunk costs.
  20. My recollection is that the Twins do sacrifice early in games some, which is awful, but I don't know where to verify or vilify that on line....
