  1. By then you either won't be able to afford him, or he isn't worth keeping. I can't see a good argument for not doing the "cheap" extension, from the Twins' side, at all. Unless you are totally risk adverse, there does not seem to be a good reason not to sign him and buy out years.
  2. Not a fan of a one year deal. They aren't one player away. They needed pitching for the next several years. I do think you have the start of a good idea, though, that could be used for a four year deal.
  3. I read that as "all liver" and could not figure out what that meant!
  4. thanks for compiling it all in one place! They are woefully under 52% right now....
  5. fivethirtyeight has a podcast out there right now, discussing how real they are.....
  6. Superstar youngsters aren't signing these types of deals anymore, for good reason. If I was the Twins, I'd certainly want to do this deal, but if Buxton is even "meh" on offense, he'll get more than 30MM a year on the open market by the time he's a FA. If I'm him, I don't sign for two reasons: 1. I bet I can make a lot more in FA. 2. The Twins have shown no signs of spending money on FAs to win. Nor have they traded to add ML talent. I'm not sure they'll ever go all in, so why would I stay?
  7. How do you plan to get more than one, if you won't pay for one? It is certainly possible enough minor league played work, but unlikely. If people won't sign Yu, due to age, I assume they won't resign Esan either. And, I don't see anyone arguing they are only one player away. People are arguing that they should add talent while Dozier and ESan and Mauer are here and before the current core leaves.
  8. Just watched dodgeball and war for the planet of the apes in the plane. One was very funny, one had a bad ending
  9. He and his wife always seemed like they really cared about helping the community. I like that
  10. Just finished season one of broadchurch. Intense
  11. I don't believe signing free agents or making trades is acquiring a reject. I bet plenty of teams are happy they have players other teams "didn't want".
  12. You think there are seven or eight starters in the system right now? We strongly disagree on that.
  13. I don't know. I saw on like six news sites the story of the ballplayer that donated the mansion recently. We see stories about koskie all the time. And morneau. I think we hear positive stories a lot. They aren't reported the same way, agreed.
  14. I agree with Carole....I can care about talent and effort, but not the person. I root for laundry, not players.
  15. More than 11 million people have streamed bright so far.... Or maybe it had been streamed that many times. Either way,a lot of people are watching
  16. The Big Sick, on Neflix, is really quite good.
  17. Of course next year is easier if an internal candidate is good. I doubt anyone disagrees with that. That doesn't change if they sign a free agent or not. And, they likely need two or three more pitchers next year, not one or two. If Santana regresses and no one really steps up, they might need four.
  18. Year one being better doesn't mean year two is bad. They won't be winning any bidding wars next year on Kershaw our other elite talents, the big spenders are under the tax threshold this year for a reason. They are also very unlikely to sign two really good pitchers in any one off season. Passing this year makes next year's work that much harder.
  19. Doesn't signing a pitcher to a longer deal help next year too?
  20. I agree that filling the team with guys you can't option is bad roster management. We've seen it with the bullpen, and other issues, over the years. Napoli makes no sense.
