  1. The Twins are smarter than this...it makes no sense.
  2. Loosey, loved your blog. You articulated very well a feeling I've also felt. It is pride in being a Twin's fan again. I got so sick of all the jabs from family and friends about how the "Twins suck" for the last year. The team was mostly unwatchable in April and May. But, as of late, they have shown us many positives. We still need starting pitching desperately, but I like the nucleus of this team. I haven't gone to a game since May, but I'm going next week. Detroit--a little scary. But, I'm enjoying being a Twin's fan again.
  3. Some of my nominees are: Tommy Herr, Tony Batista, Henry Blanco, Rondell White, Ruben Sierra, Matt Walbeck, Sidney Ponson, Mike Lamb and Jason Marquis.
  4. There are MANY things that make Target Field unique and beautiful. I love the bat shaped lit topiaries with the hops growing up them out on the plaza, the wind sculpture covering the parking ramp, the plaza leading into gate 34, the limestone, wide concourses, BIG jumbotron, skyline views, easy light rail access, the roof deck, the cool swoop of the upper deck awning with the recessed lights, Minnie and Paul shaking hands, the respect for the past throughout the stadium in photos and artwork, the OLD Metropolitan stadium flag pole....BUT, the TREES were so SPECIAL!! The current batter's eye is an EYESORE. They need to put something else out there. How about some trees?!!
  5. I'm still confused by the Twin's thinking that Clete Thomas and Komatsu were better answers to our outfield when they shipped Revere to AAA earlier this season. But, then again, they thought Marquis would be a serviceable starter. I agree with whoever said that they are in denial.
  6. They were down 4-0 tonight and came back and tied it. That's positive. Been a fan since 61 and watched the good, the bad, and the ugly. There are many good things this year, but starting pitching isn't one of them.
  7. and my lovely wife, Gail for Parkinson's cannot be disseminated without the.... Cheecago Happy Birthday young lady (the sign says she's 90)
  8. Many scouts looked at Frankie, but obviously few decided to make an offer. His inconsistency is legendary. I HATE that my team has sucked for two years and that nothing is being done to address the main issue--STARTING PITCHING. Marquis doesn't count.
  9. Baker-hurt. Pavano-hurt. Gibson-hurt. Blackburn-trying to figure it out. Slowey-who knows? Liriano-whatever want to call it. Duensing-better in the pen. Hendriks-still a ? Diamond-a surprise. Who can make this stuff up?
  10. Never been called a racist before. Don't really like the implication. I guess I became disillusioned with the bad behavior of the Vikings back in the Tommy Kramer era--he was white, right? In fact, my favorite Twins players as a kid were Tony O, Sandy Valdespino, and Cesar Tovar. I loved Harmon, too. That doesn't make me a racist though, right? Torii Hunter is my all time favorite Twin. Loved Puckett, too, as a ballplayer, not so much as a cheating and abusive husband. I've always thought of the Twins as a "League of Nations" which is awesome--and they just seem to have very few run ins with law enforcement.
  11. Why is it that so few TWINS players get in trouble with the law, and so many VIKINGS players do?
  12. I think he has been a great addition to our team. He had his little slump, but has come out of that. He doesn't seem to have great range in the outfield though. Much better than Delmon, but still a little slow.
  13. Mauer didn't pick himself to be an All-Star, so I don't get the haters at all. It would have been nice for Willingham as he hasn't been to an All-Star game, but how can people take that out on Joe.... I just don't understand. Mauer is having an outstanding season. Get off his case!
  14. C'mon Benny let's see your jets....
  15. I agree with this...remember how for a week or two he was really in a groove after his wrist supposedly was better. Before the season started I really thought his career was over, and was happy when he was able to play every day. But it is obvious that there is something really wrong right now. I hope he can figure it out. We need him.
  16. It's great to see Joe in the top five BA's again. I'd put money on him to win another batting title. I'm glad he's a Twin and an All-Star. Go Joe!
  17. If ever there was a year to let someone play and see where it takes them, this is that year. That is why IMO Dozier should just stay and play for the Twins. He looked so good when he first came up, and I still see that level of play from him on occasion. If he would be helped by going down, well, that is what they pay the professional coaching staff to decide. On the Revere debate, I never understood why Thomas, Komatsu, and Mastroianni were brought in to play in front of Ben. It's not like we're in a pennant race. Let him play and figure it out. AAA doesn't seem to be helping Danny.
  18. Even though I HATE the Yankees, I really enjoy Curtis Granderson. He played in the Northwoods League in the early 2000's for the Mankato Mashers (now Moondogs) and was such a classy guy. Still is...does lots of charity stuff, wears his socks high in honor of the Negro leaguers, very friendly. And I'll always root for Torii Hunter.
  19. "When I was with the Yankees....blah, blah, blah." HE was a Yankee?
  20. I'm not a big Butera fan or anything, but the man is hitting much better this season than last...and if he can keep Liriano calm, well, he deserves a medal. Another White Sox series, another three games of AJ antics....can't wait.
  21. When the Twins went on their little winning streak a few weeks ago, I did get kind of excited about the possibility that we'd get out of the cellar. The playoffs? Not a snowball's chance in hell. I want them to prove me wrong, but they won't.
  22. Does Plouffe have a grand slam yet?
  23. I hope Terry Ryan has a plan to fix this starting rotation...wow, it really stinks....
  24. Target Field is awesome. But, I wish they'd replant those beautiful trees.
  25. His failure to perform was just one of many horrendous things that went wrong last year for the Twins. I wish him the best but I think he'll be back in Japan after this season.
