  1. Liriano has been better. Color me skeptical that he can keep it going. But, I think Terry Ryan will make a decision based on all the factors (as we all know there are many). We need competent starting pitching. Can he give it to us? At what price? It is going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
  2. I know that some people think Terry Ryan doesn't know what he is doing, but, I believe he does, and that he realizes what he has and what he doesn't have on this team. Other than Diamond, the starting rotation is awful. Fixing that issue is going to take all his experience and savvy. I have confidence that he will make strides towards fixing it, but what it is going to cost us in terms of loss in our current lineup remains to be seen, plus don't you think some of the "cut" payroll could be put back if the Pohlad family really wants to field a winner and keep putting fans in the stands at Target Field? Make strides towards fixing the starting rotation, and this team will be okay.
  3. Great that Terry recognizes that we need pitching....but it must be effective pitching or nothing will improve....I'm at the point where I don't care who they trade to get it, just get it. I'm sick of my team being cellar dwellers....
  4. The Twins might find capable starting pitching. I don't really care who they trade or what they pay....but it MUST be done if they hope to become relevant again and keep fans interested.
  5. Maybe the Twins will score some runs for him and he'll get the win?!
  6. Way to go bottom of the lineup!! Frankie needs some more runs!!
  7. PLOUFFE!! Love this!!
  8. What a great trip! Have fun!! I'll be watching the TWINS on FSN.
  9. I like your lineup. I'm hoping for a Dozier resurgence.
  10. Four shutout innings for Frankie Futility.
  11. I think Ben is an exciting player. He'll get better. Seems to have a great attitude.
  12. I agree with you...especially if we could get a capable pitcher. Mauer and/or Parmelee are our future first basemen. With his salary the second highest on the team, and his health issues, it makes sense to dump Morneau if they can get pitching help. I love the big guy, but I could see him playing in Canada.
  13. I went to Scheel's a few weeks ago and wanted to buy a Dozier T shirt. The manager told me that he wanted to be sure Dozier was going to stick before ordering a bunch of shirts with his name on them (he'd been stuck with a bunch of Hughes shirts). I like the guy, and THIS is the year to let him play and see what happens.
  14. I feel more hopeful about the team--why? They aren't losing every game--there were a few weeks where I thought we'd never win a game again.....it felt hopeless. Lately they are getting some hits, sometimes even timely times, pitching is definitely better. I like our bullpen. Weird how a year ago it was SO BAD. I give EVERYBODY some credit for making me feel more hopeful. Scott Diamond would be at the top of my individual list.
  15. I loved the trees. I thought that there were at least a few other parks that had them. Ours were uniquely Minnesotan. I agree that our current batter's eye is an eyesore. Although it is better this year than last. Last year it was hideous. There has to be a better solution.
  16. Love the Hammer. But, seriously, the Twins need a decent starting pitcher. They need one BAD. They must listen to all offers to get one. To be respectable again, or even .500, we need a good starter. Only problem, one might not be enough.
  17. I watched the game. He threw a lot of balls nowhere near the strike zone. The A's hit a lot of balls hard and far. The Twins defense came through for him. He hugged Rick A. in the dugout after his six innings were done. I want to view it as a positive, but past history prevents me from doing so, and even though he didn't give up any runs, it wasn't really that strong a performance. I know, baby steps...and I guess it was that.
  18. I agree with this totally. I don't understand why they are messing around with Thomas/Komatsu/Mastroianni--just let Revere play. Find out if he is a big leaguer this year. This is the perfect year to give him a test drive. He is an exciting player, fun to watch, always hustling. Work with him to improve his walks, bunts, steals, etc. Let's find out!
  19. I keep hearing the Nationals want Span. Do they have a pitcher we could get from them that would be a #2 type guy?
  20. Willingham!
  21. Third hit for Butera.....where are the haters now?
  22. SERIOUSLY? Where did you get this information? Doesn't MLB have pretty tight drug testing? I don't believe for one second that Joe did drugs.
  23. Last year our bullpen guys stunk and this year they are surprisingly good (except Perkins seems to have taken a step backwards.) Our starters are a mixed bag to say the least, although MAYBE Diamond and TJ will pan out. No one thought Liriano would become even MORE of a head case, or that Baker would be out for the season, or that Joe would lose his MOJO. I also thought Morneau was going to have to retire but MAYBE he'll be okay (the jury is out on this.) I'm really confused about them giving up on Revere and replacing him with an assortment of WHO ARE THESE GUYS? Nishi--let's not even go there. What happened to the promise we saw in Parmelee and Plouffe? Who would have thought that Danny V. would get so bad that he'd even struggle at AAA? Willingham and Doumit and even Jamey C. were good additions, and Dozier is an EXCITING player. So where does all of this leave us?? In BAD SHAPE to answer this thread's initial question. I ordered good, expensive tickets from stubhub in Feb. for several games. I was lucky enough to be there April 12 for the slugfest that we won against the Angels, and unlucky enough to be there yesterday. My son said, "Mom let's go to games early in the season cuz the Twins are going to be out of it by June 1." He was right. I LOVE the Twins, been a fan since 61, but I am not going back to beautiful TF until we have a team that can at least score some runs. Yesterday was pathetic. Heartbreaking.
  24. I was there today. Beautiful day, beautiful stadium, terrible performances (except for Brian Dozier) who is my new favorite Twin.
