  1. Good point Seth. Jim Hoey is a good example.
  2. Family members liked them so much at Christmas that I just ordered 3 more. People really appreciate the thoughtfulness that you went out and got something for them that they did not know existed. Lots of Twins' fans out there. So--got a few more--one for a friend, one for my boss and for a work colleague.
  3. Great job Seth & Company. I just ordered 4 as gifts.
  4. This is very intriguing. The following quote is on the Twins' website--using the same analysis what do you make of this? "We've gotten beaten up for three years now," Gardenhire said at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort on Tuesday. "You know you need pitching. We're trying to get pitching. We've done a pretty good job at this point. We're looking at position players. We said we were going to get better, and that's our goal is to get better. We started that process, but by no means is it done. We're still working hard at it."
  5. The Twins are now tied with the Cubs for 4th in the reverse standings. Stellar work Gardy and company! It doesn't look like we can catch the Whities but with 8 games left it is possible that the Twins could take 4th.
  6. Terry Ryan has been at this what 12 months since Bill Smith crashed and burned? Rebuilding is hard to do especially when your general manager failed to select pitchers with the high draft picks in successive years. Most folks in the know opine that the Twins are in rebuilding mode and the pitchers that have been signed are fillers until 2015 when it is hoped that the group which includes Sano, Buxton, Meyer and others emerge. Let's not forget how ugly the 90's were. It seems that only the Dodgers and Yankees can buy their way into contention.
  7. Can't we all get into a time machine and fast forward to 2015? This losing/no hope/watching our "Money Ball" coaching staff (the ones that don't get it) is painful and then having Carl's kids being as parsimonious as pa is almost too much.
  8. I agree that there is some team willing to give Slama a shot, especially after his performance last year. I believe he was eligible in 2011 for the Rule 5 Draft but was not chosen. My guess is that he must have spit (or is it spat) sunflower seeds at Gardy at some point in his career.
  9. John, so now what has happened to the "fun bunch"? Valencia was a key member of the group. Was Luke Hughes a member? Joe Benson?
  10. Heard they are considering trees to soften the black eye in center field but to the sides.
  11. The White Sox say they can make him better? May be he will chew even more gum--wasn't that the key to his most recent success? I hope the Twins light him up on Tuesday. Be patient, don't swing at the slider unless it is up in the zone then swing away.
  12. I love our ballpark until I take a look at our ugly batter's eye. It looks like someone rolled a plywood wall (the kind you practice hitting tennis balls against) with black paint. I understand that this is more complicated (some kind of honeycomb material) and that the Twins have spent a couple of million dollars on what we have right now. How about putting back the trees and if that is not a possibility putting some silhousette trees on it or even a TC logo? Truly Target Field looks like a beautiful person with a black eye. I heard that the Twins were looking at may be a couple of trees on the edges of it to soften the look. What do you think? May be Reusse wasn't wrong--bats are made from wood and where does wood come from?
  13. May be he could teach his technique to Mr. Willingham and Mr. Doumit.
  14. I agree on the bench; compare the 2011 Opening Day Roster's bench with 2012: 2011 Bench
C Drew Butera 1B Jim Thome IF/OF Matt Tolbert OF Jason Repko 2012 Bench OF Ben Revere IF Sean Burroughs IF/OF Luke Hughes C/IF/OF Ryan Doumit
  15. Tyler Kepner of the New York Times predicted yesterday that the Twins would finish last and so would the Orioles.
