  1. I think that would be Juliens best role for this postseason is bat off the bench (pinch hitter) — nothing wrong with that.
  2. Great point. It was a heck of a play by Correa and I think most shortstops have that instinct, but not all. And if Correa wasn’t playing over by second to start with, to compensate for Julien, it might not happen. And Jeffers finishing it. Super cool play.
  3. Lopez was great! The Twins made the plays, got a couple breaks, and Lewis provided the offense. 🙂 The fans were in it all day! Game 2 tomorrow!!
  4. Twins also finished with 8 grand slams, tied for third most. Not bad, considering their bases-loaded ineptitude at the start of the season. Royce Lewis hit grand slams in back to back days in August. This probably snuck under the radar, but Jazz Chisholm did the same thing for the Marlins in September. What may or may not be forgotten is that against the Astros in 2020, the Twins left the bases loaded in the first without scoring in both games. Sano batted sixth and grounded out in game 1, and Kirilloff flew out in game two. That's why I think Royce Lewis should bat sixth in Game 1 tomorrow!
  5. Like I said, I do expect a win tomorrow. But here is what is hanging over the fans right now: Current Postseason WIN/LOSS Streaks:
  6. I felt this way in 2019 lol But that's why they play the game. If the Twins sweep Toronto, Toronto will then be the owner of the longest postseason losing streak, at 7 games. (Texas currently sits at 6 losses, and Tampa Bay at 5, and they play each other)
  7. I think a big factor in deciding to use Luplow to pitch in a tie game in the last game of the season that meant nothing was, “whaddya gonna do about it?”
  8. I have been properly corrected about Toronto not having left handers in their bullpen. I knew about Mayza and the starters, but Genesis Cabrera was a new one to me. 🙂 I don’t know if Ryu as their fifth starter makes the roster, but I’m thinking Kikuchi absolutely will. The possible idea that people are discussing of Kikuchi as a lefty coming in to pitch for several innings, the way the Twins might use Varland, or even to start a game as an opener, is a very interesting wrinkle.
  9. But nothing. That's part of what makes him so special.
  10. Gausman / Berrios / Bassitt has been the sequence the second half. The lineup looks good on paper, but I am very confident the Blue Jays can be pitched to. The Blue Jays also only have one leftie in the pen. I have no idea if Ryu or Kikuchi, their lefty starters, will be moved to the pen for this series. This kind of works against Buxton being on the roster to pinch hit. I kind of think the Twins will load up on their young lefthanded lineup and let er rip.
  11. guessing they get the noon game. Miami at Philly is a nice primetime matchup.
  12. Oh, good to know. There might still be seeding implications, but I don’t think any of the teams involved would really complain if it’s cancelled. So is it an official game then?
  13. And Miami cancelling their travel plans to play a one inning game in New York tomorrow
  14. Second half dead arm, like we see so often and same thing Ryan and Ober went through most likely. Just got tired. Wells spent some time closing for Baltimore during his Rule 5 season, and closed out the AL East clinching win for Baltimore on Thursday night.
  15. Actually.. It’s still complicated!
  16. As wabene said, Framber Valdez may pitch tomorrow for Houston regardless. If Houston hangs on and wins tonight, they could catch Texas for the division, although Texas’s opponent Seattle would have nothing to play for. If Houston loses tonight, they will need Valdez to pitch and win to finish ahead of Seattle for the tiebreaker.
  17. Also tonight, Detroit clinches 2nd place in the AL Central. Alec Baldwin will deliver the set of steak knives in person in a pre-game ceremony sometime in 2024.
  18. I would be including Funderburk as a second lefty in the pen, but I wonder if those two home runs off of Thielbar makes the case too
  19. oh gotcha. yeah that would be a very nice perk.
  20. I beg to differ. If Texas wins the West, Texas would be the Twins second round opponent. I’d take that.
  21. Guy has gotten a bad rap. He started with the Twins on Opening Day until he came down with pneumonia in May. My biggest fear is that the Twins take the advice of posters here and trade him.* *actually that’s probably only my 7,810th biggest fear. Fear of Tarantulas would definitely be higher
