  1. Bump. That is a good point. They won at least one championship. Too much talent not enough teaching?
  2. At least when Buxton makes a throw to the infield it hits the cutoff man hard and on the fly. The other guys we currently have in the corner outfield spots, their throws just kind of come in aimlessly on several bounces until retrieved by the nearest fielder. Not good.
  3. Does seem odd that an age 25 guy is in this sort of thing, regardless of injury time lost
  4. Well, sure. That data would be interesting to see if it was readily available. Do you have it? More than the actual stat lines, I just can't get on board with the prevailing idea that Hu has so little going for him while the other guys are so highly regarded.
  5. Agree, and of course the high draft picks will naturally get more hype. But I really like Gonsalves amd how the Twins have pushed him up. We might even see him next year.
  6. I've moved on from Hu, but it's just weird how people reflexively dismiss Hu and yet salivate over the other guys, when you could argue they are all basically the same. Why is that?
  7. The same can be said for any of our starting pitchers in the minors. They are assets but not great prospects, and probably not vital to our future. See stat comparison above just as an example.
  8. Ha. I haven't seen any of those guys in person, but at some point performance on the field matters?
  9. I'm ok with trading prospects but I will respectfully disagree with you on this one. Hu's stat line this year is virtually indistinguishable from Gonsalves, Jay, or Kohl Stewart's, and if Ryan had traded one of those other guys, the internet would have crashed. All four are having good seasons this season. I will show you. Of those four, try guessing which is which just by comparing stat lines Games pitched, IP, H, W, SO (includes all levels, per bbref) 12, 70.2 inn, 49 hits, 24:72 BB/K 14, 77.2 inn, 75 hits, 23:72 BB/K 12, 65.2 inn, 60 hits, 20:66 BB/K 14, 77.1 inn, 68 hits, 29:58 BB/K
  10. Seems like Sano has his timing back and is back up to full speed. Do you know how the Twins approach rehab assignments?
  11. Shoulder surgery. Out for year. http://www.twinkietown.com/2016/6/28/12055794/phil-hughes-to-have-season-ending-shoulder-surgery Or, as the TwinkieTown writer aptly put it: meh, might as well.
  12. I was wondering what sad soul might bid on that thing, whatever it was* *no one is a sad soul
  13. Kershaw actually hurt his back in his last start. Nothing serious, but Terry still turned down the offer, not wanting to trade for an injured guy
  14. Berrios tonight: 7 innings, 1 hit good pitching is contagious
  15. So it is both sides keeping this game alive. Good to know, good to know What you would hear from the Twins broadcasters, if that was Grossman instead of Arcia, is "ball was hit incredibly high with a lot of backspin, tough catch to make looking up into that ceiling after a long run like that." But it's Arcia so it's just a big misplay.
  16. Try the 1992 expansion draft for the Marlins and Rockies. Some better players, including a future Hall-of-Famer (more likely than not but no guarantee) and some other interesting guys, like a young Joe Girardi. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_Major_League_Baseball_expansion_draft
  17. His round of batting practice was awful. Swinging for the fences.
  18. It makes no sense to me to continue cycling through pitchers like Neil Ramirez to see if he sticks. I am very much in the camp that says the Twins should have let a reliever go, instead of Arcia. Hoarding too many minor league free agent signings in the MLB bullpen also has a cascading effect on all the college relievers we have drafted, who in my opinion need to be promoted through the system at a much faster pace.
  19. This makes sense. Then from the original 15 you could consider exposing maybe Chargois, Rogers or Pressly, or some combination, though I would still protect Burdi.
  20. Ahh got it, thanks. Hopefully Ryan feels he is past the point where he needs to put out fires or shake things up or turn this around for 2016. Can't complain about Buxton, Kepler, Berrios right now but it would be nice to put a plan in place for guys like Sano, May, Polanco, and whoever else isn't being served well right now.
  21. Arizona pitcher throws complete game shutout, 122 pitches. Playing for title Tuesday night.
  22. I'd keep Nunez. His glove and arm are generally suspect (which depresses his value) but he can back up several positions and occasionally does something amazing out in the field. And he has spark as a hitter and base runner. Good complementary player and good find.
