Funny, because the Indians are usually the Yankees kryptonite, and the Yankees are the Twins kryptonite, and the Twins are the Indians kryptonite. At least for tonite. And life comes full triangle.
FWIW this guy now pitching for Cleveland was a 23rd round draft pick, rocketed through the minors, and was never demoted after his debut. I say this as a Cleveland fan who does not want to jinx him.
The following posters like this photo and want to buy him/her a steak dinner: Fernando Valenzuela http://m.mlb.com/assets/images/9/9/6/138028996/cuts/Valenzuela1280_nwdgomqi_4jf9epv7.jpg
It was in Cleveland 22 seasons ago when Ron Davis and the Twins blew those devastating leads and games at the end of the season. Why do I mention this? No idea.
Do you believe that in a short post season series, the results are a crapshoot or do the better teams have the advantage? Given how the Twins accidentally stumbled into the postseason race last year, I'm not sure any team should ever completely concede a season.
I think Sano's so called disastrousness has been mitigated by his above average range, and his rocket arm. He definitely needs work but it's possible he can hold the position well enough in time. Given that Plouffe is on the wrong side of the third baseman age curve and Polanco is completely untested there, Sano still has to be part of the conversation.
Agree. Also, interesting that Meyer will go to spring training in 2017 with a chance to win a starting job. That will be something to watch. He was not given that chance here, for whatever reason.
How to tell if this is a good trade or bad trade: A week ago, if someone had suggested Antony should package Nolasco and Meyer for a potential mid rotation starter, would you have taken that seriously?
Nolasco grew up in LA and seems like an LA kind of guy. I don't think it's possible for him to be pitching there against his will. Best of luck to him - I doubt the smile has left his face yet.
Hey huhguy- Way to support your argument with data. For real though, would you suggest moving one of the 1B guys for a trial run at third base? There is some logic to it and I would be open to it, though I still like Sano. Which of those guys would you try at third?
He will claim it was rigged, his followers will believe him, he'll throw some more insults, and that's basically it. But...he's more worried about the NFL and says nothing about the MLB postseason?? That's it! He doesn't get my vote!
