  1. The Dodgers see something in Berrios like they know what pitch is coming. Of course it doesn't help that the pitches are all in the womping zone. I'm sure Castro's got this
  2. Please no balks on pickoff attempts
  3. Right, after Berrios, there is no Twins starting pitcher right now significantly better than any other. Given that Colon is a fact of life right now, I'd like to endure only one more of his starts before the Twins part ways.
  4. I also think they probably promised Colon x number of major league starts, but honestly, who cares. The Twins shouldn't worry about their rep taking a hit in this case. Colon is completely disengaged and could care less about the Twins. At least that was my impression watching his interview and reading about his at bats from posters at the game. If the Mets wanted Colon but the Twins promised Colon more, then the Twins should just trade him back to the Mets at this point and keep running Gibson out there, or call someone up.
  5. Statistically speaking, Santana, Gibson and Mejia are virtually indistinguishable since May. The Twins have even won more games with Gibson on the mound than Ervin.
  6. The picture is coming into view, and Meyer is having a decent season. The Angels really couldn't have asked for more. Meyer also has a interesting home/road split, which the Angels might consider when they line up their rotation for 2018. Oh well.
  7. I agree, but he was signed by Ryan, not the new guys
  8. On the other hand, Verlander is almost never hurt, and can still dominate at times. Being on a new team might give Verlander a shot of energy. If Detroit is motivated to move him, they will have bidders.
  9. I thought maybe Rosario/Kepler and some prospects going both ways, for balance. I still like Buxton, too.
  10. Those suggestions are a little lighter than I would have figured. Maybe Detroit really is motivated to move him. With the elder Ilitch passing away and leaving the team to his family, we may see some Detroit cost-cutting like we saw with the Pohlads.
  11. what do you think is a fair exchange, or what do you think the Twins might give up for him?
  12. Not sure why Kintzler was brought in, a day after pitching the 8th and 9th. He should still be available Tuesday and Wednesday before the day off. Also, Joe Mauer needs to play all three Dodgers games this series, even though the Twins will face two left-handers. Otherwise, with Vargas unavailable and Mauer on the bench, a whole host of infielders are playing out of position. Either Vargas stays on the team, or Mauer needs to play 1B every day he isn't. Should not be news by now. It will be good to get Buxton back, too.
  13. I wonder what it would take to get the last two and a half years of Verlander. Of course, with Jim Pohlad demanding veto power over tiny salary moves like Jaime Garcia, I think the chances are pretty close to zero that any halfway decent free agent pitcher is ever signed here.
  14. Beeker pitched six shutout innings in a Cedar Rapids 8-5 win over Lansing yesterday afternoon. (Lansing scored 5 runs in the 8th off of the bullpen.) 6.0 IP, 4 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB, 3 SO Beeker also hit a batter. In the following inning, Lansing beaned the Cedar Rapids batter who had hit a grand slam earlier, leading to some ejections against Lansing.
  15. I believe you. It would also be a bit annoying to haggle over cash.
  16. Garcia is healthy. I wonder if by "medicals" the Twins were only raising his medical history in order to get a better deal. Garcia has missed a lot of time in the past to injury, which for the present would be irrelevant, because he seems to be healthy right now.
  17. Pay the salary and send Atlanta the lottery ticket, ferpetessake
  18. More like what the poster above said. The Twins aren't likely to raise their offer because "other teams" are interested. I doubt Garcia on a 2-3 month rental is that valuable.
  19. This player would be a nice add for the Twins, but I don't think the player is so good that Atlanta would expect a bidding war over him. Just my opinion.
  20. Maybe. If so, the proper Twins response is: "not interested."
