  1. Seems like this road trip has seen some terrible ball/strike calls. If done properly, an automated strike zone wouldn't even be noticed by the fan. It would merely look like a really good home plate umpire making the right calls.
  2. I'll start: Maybe there should be three game threads: the grumpy one, the happy one, and the one where people want to talk about the game?
  3. Seems like the happy, jokey people don't show up in the game threads much anymore. I am not going to call the current regular posters negative. In fact I enjoy the potshots and dark, jaded humor as much as anyone so it's no skin off my back. I am also confident 99% of them want to see the Twins be a winner. Just seems like we're seeing another instance of the principle "the bad drives out the good" happening. Thought I'd point it out. Thoughts?
  4. It's an interesting idea. I don't think Perkins will take one of those spots in the immediate future, but he sure looks on track to come back some time in August. Also, I count 3 open spots on the 40 man, because you can add another one when Colon is mercifully laid to rest in his baseball grave.
  5. Double switch / reentry Tuesday night. Your thoughts.
  6. Fair take, I'm just not sure at the deadline that they can deal for that silver bullet we are all hoping for. Don't be surprised if none of these guys are traded, though it seems like people think Kintzler is the most likely. That makes sense. He can be signed back in the offseason if he has some desire to pitch here going forward.
  7. No doubt this will be a bittersweet moment, considering everything that Garcia has done for us
  8. I agree. I don't think Molitor is the right guy to manage but I would like the Twins to keep him around.
  9. Does anyone else think Kepler could have stolen home off of Kenley Jansen in the 9th inning last night? Didn't realize that Jansen had such a slow set delivery. I thought Mauer should have stolen home off Maeda Tuesday night too. Kepler would need to get a good feel for Jansen's move, and of course a good jump. I assume Molitor would provide cover if Kepler is tagged out. I think it would have been worth a shot.
  10. The national hot take is the Twins need to sell. There's no denying a deadline premium could be had for a mid season trade. However, I think the more strategic trade can happen over the winter meetings, and it needs to happen, and for MLB ready pitching, which I think the Twins will have trouble finding here at the deadline. I don't want to see one of their best players suddenly ripped away at a critical moment right now. Just my thoughts on it. I still want to see this team play. I think they win in Oakland, not get beat like they did in LA or Houston.
  11. Agree. It was a little cynical. I'm just wondering what the logical conclusion to this is, or what the discussion looks like a year from now, if the Twins are in the same position, maybe 10 games over 500 but still in third place and six games out like this season. More selling? Fire Falvey?
  12. 2017: 43 IP, 22 hits, 12 BB, 68 SO Not sure why anyone would part with that stat line.
  13. 2017: sell Santana, Dozier and Kintzler. Twins are out of it. No brainer. 2018: sell Rosario, Kepler, and Taylor Rogers. Twins are still not on the level of the best teams, these guys are valuable controllable assets, and you might as well get some good young pitching prospects for them. 2019: sell the big boys: Berrios, Buxton and Sano, before they start making the real money. Everyone knows the small market Twins won't be able to afford those big contracts, what with that bad television deal and attendance figures unexpectedly down. Compete in 2020!
  14. If the Twins play their cards right, they can wind up with another top five pick in the draft next June
  15. I was wrong. I will be handing out $5 dollar bills on the corner of Hennepin and 7th Street tomorrow at 5 PM
  16. Vargas hit two home runs in a minor league game #Falvey
  17. Honestly I'm ready for a steal of home attempt
  18. The Twins also cover bunts poorly, having no one at third when a force play is there
  19. $5 bucks says Granite comes up with RISP this inning
  20. here's the worst - that fly ball was so damn shallow
