  1. What would the strategy be, start a discussion? I'm not sure I understand your angle. Could you explain? I will throw in that there are some pretty big egos on that board, and that MLB broke the previous umpire union like a twig. If a digital strike zone was implemented correctly, no umpire jobs would be lost, umpires would in fact do their jobs better, and nothing would look different on the field to the fan. I'm not sure what the downside is to calling balls and strikes better. edit p.s. I also like the idea of a uniform fixed strike zone proposed by the other poster, though clearly it has some issues to work out, if it can be worked out at all
  2. You are making good points, but the ultimate "fairness" we are looking for is the ball/strike calls.
  3. Punt. I think we'll see some minor league starting pitchers get a lot of starts later this season. It's almost inevitable.
  4. Calhoun has put together a pretty good season (if you want to go by stat lines ).
  5. Fair enough. Industry prospect rankings always remind me of investment analysts all chasing each others opinions, but fair enough.
  6. True, but Tyler Wells strikes me as a good comp to James Kaprielian, an over aged low minors guy who strikes guys out but can't stay healthy. Kaprielian is the only arm New York gave up in the deal. I wonder if Wells and then Gordon would have been the basis of a trade. I wonder if the Twins even talked to Oakland.
  7. Gladden was ranting about that same thing. Interesting. He also mentioned how Gimenez and Pressly were not on the same page with pitch selection. With too many shake offs and resets.
  8. I hate to say it, but this looks like a good trade. As for 2017, I guess we're going to roll with some combination of Santiago, Gibson, an AA-AAA call up, and see what happens.
  9. Do you think that would help?
  10. Correct, according to this writer the Yankee are/were facing luxury tax penalties https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2017/7/30/16064814/jaime-garcia-trade-twins-yankees-zack-littell-dietrich-enns-strategy-buyers-sellers-deadline
  11. Rogers and Kintzler both look cooked right now. This would have been good time to try out Hildenberger in late innings. Or Belisle who was fully warmed up and waiting to enter.
  12. I'm out too for the night, been fun all bullpen's got this
  13. Youre an ump, you know that was outside
  14. Have any of these umpires ever umpired before?
  15. Take him off the radio, and there will be blood!
  16. The most perilous lead in baseball is the 5-0 lead.
  17. Maybe St. Cloud is more of a state of mind?
  18. A look at the color scheme inside the Oakland A's clubhouse:http://uglyhousephotos.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/090923g.jpg
