  1. Wasn’t interested in Diekman myself, but he was certainly one of the good pieces that figured to be moved.
  2. THIS TEAM CAN”T WIN BY 7 RUN.NO CHCE TEAM IS BAAAAD HUSTON NY CUBBIES THESE TEAMS /WILL SWEEP U GARANTEE
  3. Ok well, this isn’t quite accurate as presented here, the Cubs traded him before he threw a pitch for them,, but maybe another thread is a better place to go into it
  4. Sorry I’m late! I hear chicken dinner being called!!!
  5. It’s your last two words that resonate with me. How would you like to be told you are moving, every couple of months? I know it’s part of the deal right now. Minor league promotions are one thing; feeling like your career might be over is a little different, I would think. But maybe the players see it different.
  6. And, what wasn’t mentioned in the link spycake provided, was that Mejia pitched three scoreless innings in extra innings the previous night. The next night he was DFA’d. Similar to what the Twins did with Smeltzer. This to me is a really sad practice, because it seems to be becoming so much more common, hopefully players will come up with something to protect themselves from it. (full MLB paycheck for the whole season once called up, I don’t know..)
  7. Go online (if you aren’t online already) and watch some of his post game interviews with the Cardinals.... eventually you might conclude: “no thanks.” He’s doing well in Texas. He doesn’t seem like a guy who would want to be disturbed and uprooted from a good situation he’s got going.
  8. Yeah I was trying to remember exactly what the mood was surrounding that decision. Sano was injured but healthy again, but I also recalled him being in one of his strikeout funks. Could be wrong.
  9. Sano is valuable, but so darn streaky. Keep in mind, the latest Yankee series notwithstanding, Sano could be vulnerable to a postseason-caliber pitching against him (as opposed to just “get ahead, attack the zone” strategy that we see from the Detroit-type teams in the regular season). Sano can be pitched to, and the front office left him off the roster against the Yankees in the wild card in 2017. I like Sano and I think his teammates do too. Would be hard to trade a piece like that right now. I think the Mets would happily take him in a Syndergaard package. It would be quite a gutsy call.
  10. Why does this feel like a trap
  11. My gut says Arraez and Sano are being asked for. (Also I heard something to that effect on WCCO recently.) I agree, that would be tough. I think the Mets would take Rosario or Kepler in an instant but I don’t think the Twins would consider it for even a moment.
  12. I get it. It’s also a serious question.
  13. Then my question to you both would be: Would you consider including someone currently on the 25-man roster in a trade?
  14. I think Game 4 of the 91 WS was the extra inning game (they lost)
  15. Game 5 of 2002 ALDS was intense, especially the ninth
  16. Honestly I’d feel better if Rooker or Kirilloff was drawing the significant attention.
  17. Heard an interview with the Pensacola broadcaster last month, and he mentioned Navaretto as a sort of clubhouse leader for that team.
  18. Pineda is not under contract with the Twins next season, so the front office will be more than happy to run him into the ground. I’m going to go out on a limb and say Perez will regain his first half mojo and has a chance to be the best starter going forward, after Berrios.
  19. Good point. Almost at this point, just call him up and hope he catches fire.
  20. Correct correct correct. Even the 2014 season alone was probably worth it, let alone 2014-2015 together. World Series championships: 12-year-olds love them; and championships make scheduling old timer reunions so much easier.
  21. Yes but that is changing. Baldelli said as much in a recent postgame. “I’m going to use Rogers any time it’s close,” or words to that effect.
