  1. Offer him a minor league contract with a $1.5M salary if he plays in the majors.
  2. He's not young for a major leaguer. His needed role will be to come up to the Twins and play CF (instead of Austin Martin) when Buxton and Emmanuel Rodriguez are both injured. That should give him somewhere between 50-100 games next year with the Twins.
  3. Those "team records" Keirsey Jr set on offense are based on 4 seasons of Saints baseball. The record book goes back to 2021 when they entered AAA. This org doesn't draft "bat first" players. Their top 5 picks this year were SS, SS, 3B, LHP, C. Last year was Walker Jenkins (is anybody upset about that pick?!), Soto, Keaschall, Winokur. 2022 was Lee, Prielipp, Schobel, Morris and Ben Ross. The only "bat first" player on that list is Walker Jenkins and it would be dumb to pick someone else in that situation. If you want to complain about their minor league defensive development then I think there are a lot of valid criticisms. They keep way too many players at positions they are unlikely to master for way too long. Austin Martin shouldn't be working on his jumps in the outfield at age 25. They wasted a year of his development playing him at SS when everyone said he wasn't going to be a SS.
  4. Keirsey Jr is 28 next May. Why didn't the article list the name of the minor leaguers with similar stats? The list of major leaguers with similar stats is completely irrelevant. I looked them up. Kameron Misner, Andrew Velazquez, Samad Taylor, Dustin Harris Brewer Hicklen is one hit below those totals. Ryan Bliss is 6 hits too low. Pedro Leon is 1 SB short. Jordyn Adams is 2 SB short. That is DaShawn Keirsey's cohort, not the major leaguers.
  5. Is this service time related? Alcala came into the season with 4 years and 14 days of service time due to all the time he's spent on the MLB injured list. Keeping him in the minors more than 14 days should add another year of team control.
  6. If defense is a low priority then explain why their two big contracts are to Buxton and Correa.
  7. Dobnak is mostly using up innings that should go to other pitchers. I think I might demote him to Double-A if I was in charge.
  8. That's not fair to Milwaukee. They tend to go for it when they have a chance.
  9. He's a bargain. He's a top of the rotation pitcher at a price that is half of what other top of the rotation pitchers are commanding. 3 years, $64M is an absolute steal for a top of the rotation pitcher.

    Imagine if he had pitched!
  11. I expect ownership would say "We can finish in 4th place without paying Correa".
  12. With the benefit of hindsight, the Twins should have traded Max Kepler at the deadline. They should have traded Carlos Santana as well, his production was mostly in June.
  13. I think there is a possibility that Correa requests a trade this off season and the Twins accommodate him. The Giants (for example) would be happy to take the next 4 years of Correa's contract.
  14. All that proves is the Cleveland Guardians are a lot better at baseball than Pittsburgh's AAA team.
  15. Or he could throw one pitch and suffer a career ending injury (if he hasn't already).
  16. Pitchers get injured often and you only get a 40-man roster to start the season. Most organizations are scrambling to find warm bodies to fill the 14th spot on the pitching staff at the end of the season.
  17. All sorts of benefits to the players to get experience in playoff games. All sorts of opportunities for them to shine on a big stage. Playoff baseball is fun. Why do you hate fun?
  18. Other posters have called him the clutch god MVP of the team. You don't pinch hit for the clutch god MVP of the team.
