  1. I would guess that the pitchers worth lower whip/bb/oslg higher ks, would also blow up less and not have to deal with inherited runners coming into middle off innings, etc. I guess you don't know unless you calculate it out.
  2. Anyway, my point is that power is easier to add than contact. If you have great hand-eye coordination, it transfers well to hitting the ball hard and far. HR and double right on cue. Stance and swing is very reminiscent of Eduardo Escobar.
  3. Really nice crop of rookie position players. Still think Arraez will need more pull power to keep teams honest. but dude's a magician with the bat. power is a natural add to the skill set. count me as hopeful. I believe Law had him away 19 or 20 preseason, highest of any lousy I saw.
  4. Who comes in to face Yelich in a big spot? Smeltzer, Perez and Rogers are our only lefties and 2 are starting.
  5. Free Duran! He has to be added next year. Graterol doesn't and he'll need to be on an innings limit next season. I'm not sure I'd call on him. Don't forget Trevor Hildenberger. If healthy his change up is super legit. Andrew Vasquez could refind his form as well. To me, they'd be the best options, but certainly not options you can bank on.
  6. DL, tied arm. Throwing harder may have some consequences... otherwise he could throw pre game batting practice...?
  7. agree. of course Jay and Gordon were no. 1 picks... still would have been nice...
  8. I believe that was the year Gordon tore up the 1st half, granite was named our MiLB hitter of the year and Jay was a no.1 pick? Still... grrrr...
  9. I guess that makes sense... I was thinking he was around longer before midseason rankings. It would be cool to see where he'd rank addy the time of graduation. I'd think higher. what a meteoric riser.
  10. Ehh... we expected to be good last year, and this was supposed to be the year we're could add even more. my point is you have to tru to get better whenever you can, because you can't get it all done by waiting for 1 trade deadline.
  11. http://twinsdaily.com/blog/877/entry-9214-on-acquiring-yu-darvish-or-gerrit-cole/
  12. Fans should be mad. We've pointed for this year: after Mauer after Hughes and Erv.. and yet went in tentative. it's not the deadline, it's not last offseason, it's several years. if we add say Cole or Darvish (apparently good again) before last year, men's own Brad Hand last deadline, keep pres, extend esco instead of going 3 years of marwin... the inactivity adds up and we were left with too much to do and too few opportunities to get better. starting next season, fielding even the same team we have now will be much more expensive, probably prohibitively so. We're very likely to be worse next year, imo.
  13. Wait is Darvish good again too?
  14. Not to relive this but... we said no. Astros said ok. The player was Garret Cole.
  15. if you told me that our opponent in a 7 game series scored between 4 and 5 runs every game, I'd take my chances with our bats.
  16. Graterol with 101 innings last year, 53 innings do far this year. They'd like to get him to 120 this year is think.
  17. I'd rather look at the actual deal that went to the end of the the end of the deadline. It's not like a bunch of teams got their relievers and dropped out of the auction. This was the very best deal they could get. 3 lottery tickets with somewhat limited upside.
  18. I really doubt he's hurt. Every pitcher has a sore shoulder after they pitch. This time of year especially. it's a mistake to rely on him going forward, imo. Addison Reed 2.0. There's a reason no one else wanted this guy and he came on the cheap.
  19. There's a 4th explanation... his pride hurts mor than his arm. He wasn't good to begin with. Oracle illusion.
  20. It's apparent all 3 have slid down national rankings just this year.
  21. Ok, I was a bit meh on the move prior to seeing him interviewed. After hearing his take on the trade, I love this move. Dude has attitude and charisma coming out of his ears. Type of veteran personality who can keep things loose when the race gets tight. Like now. He's really energized to join a winning team, and open to any role. Awesome attitude.
