I don't understand the Neto infatuation. Not just for the Twins but Boston, and Tampa were mentioned as destinations as well. I get that he has good power for the position but that K rate is a rally killer. I' don't know why we would want to do a deal. There must be something teams think they can fix or that he is undervalued in some way? He's had a lot of steam, but if it were me I'd stay away as we have good options that aren't even arb eligible on the way and they might be better in the end anyway. If they want to focus on something it should be arms as they get hurt a lot and are in short supply.

Never says never, but it feels like Jeffers is off the market as several teams that were looking for right handed bats went out and got them. Seemingly indicating they know Jeffers is off the market. I mean since the Twins have the QO to fall back on it will take a hefty price to pry Jeffers loose and he is also a rental. The Yankee's seem like the only team desperate enough to pay a high price and be able to sign him in the offseason so you never know, but it seems it would take a blockbuster type deal probably somewhat similar to Skubal to get Jeffers. I just don't know that a team would do that or not. Especially if they don't think they can sign him. A little surprised on Larnach as he has been such a big part the offense, but if they think Jenkins is ready it makes some sense. It was a MLB for MLB offer so the Twins don;t seem inclined to move him unless it helps this years team in some way. We'll see if someone gives them an offer they can't refuse, but I doubt it. Ryan just isn't as tradable with his poor second half stats and the fact he hasn't pitched well leading up to the deadline. For what it would cost to get him I just don't see a team feeling comfortable doing that right now so I think he stays. Not much else to trade unless from the farm. I have Gonzalez, Diaw, and Mercedes as movable at the deadline for the right deals. Gabby doesn't really have a place to play other 1st base\DH. Lewis is there now and he has more versatility and athleticism. I don't see a spot for him in the outfield. He is still a major league bat IMO so there is plenty of value there which leads me to thinking he could be dealt for the right piece not a throw away rental. Diaw still has a chance to be a catcher though he has had trouble staying healthy back there. It's a really good bat with some serious questions about power, but that typically comes in time. I'd think there is good value there and the Twins invested heavily in Lackey and Tinney who likely aren't that far behind and better defensively anyway. He could be moved. Other players they could move would be Kyle DeBarge,KALA'I ROSARIO, Ricardo Olivar, Enrique Jimenez, Dameury Pena, Yassar Mercedes, Adrian Bohorquez, Jose Olivares. Guys I'd like to keep but again for the right deal I'd be willing to move are Hendry Mendez, John Klein, Ben Ross, Quentin Young,, Marco Raya, CJ Culpepper.

Tinney has some serious power. Nice to see him get to it. It's a small sample size but he has a pretty hefty K rate, but a nice walk rate rate as well. Will be interesting to see how much contact he can make. They said Turner has a hot bat at Michigan and he has the highest OPS in the early going. Surprised at how well Scholvin has done as well with a 1.000 OPS. Nice to see these guys hitting well right away. My guy Fragoza continues to mash as well. Congrats to Merit Jones.

If he keeps the .900 OPS I could see him getting around 20M per year. Keep in mind Jeffers is not a great defensive catcher. .900 OPS right handed bats seem at unicorn levels these days so his value as a catcher, 1st baseman or DH could be close to 20M per. He'll need to keep it up though. If he falls to say the low .800's so does his monetary value IMO as his worth is tied more to his bat than defense. Durability behind the plate remains a question as well as I don't believe he has ever played a full season behind the plate as the primary catcher. He has when platooned 50/50. 25M seems high to me given he has only had one .800 OPS season and we'll see where this one goes. Usually guys that get those high dollar value amounts have a proven track record. Still some team could be a believer. You never know.

Like most things it depends on what they would get back. Though it seems they have already decided on one reliever and starting pitcher. So not sure what Jeffers could bring back that would help the current teams run. There is also a limit teams will pay for a rental so not sure there would be enough there for the Twins to bite or not. No question Jeffers deepens the lineup and it looks like the Twins are going for it as they solidify the pen. So I doubt they trade him, but we'll see if the returns are just too tempting or not.

Oh boy, not really, but only because I see Mendez taking Larnach's place at some point. I thought about Gonzalaez as well, but that seemed too steep too. So I see what you are getting at. After thinking about it more I can see Zoll's calculus to some degree. He still has Duran from the FCL who is a true center fielder but with lessor power to sort of replace Reyes, They have Fragoza who isn't as athletic but hit';s the ball hard and Holman in the DSL who looks like he might be similar to Rodriguez so he probably felt he cold afford to move Reyes. It's just that Reyes appears to be the best of them right now. If he could have sold him on some sort of Enrique Jimenez, Rosario, Olivares package I would have been fine with that. I might have been ok moving on from Mercedes, but that would have been my high water mark for Kremer. I get other teams don't necessarily want to take what you want to give up. Still I think the gamble by Baltimore here was a really good one. If the Twins could get deals like this in the future I would love it.

I think that's about right. Prospects fail at extremely high rates. We've seen several Twins players struggle out of the FCL at A ball. I don't think Reyes hit the ground running there either. Still his lean body type with power is very reminiscent of someone like Tatis. He doesn't have quite that type of athleticism and or wheels, probably a notch below. If he does hit at A ball and or High A next year even close to what he did this year he'll be a top 100 prospect. He was already climbing boards based on his athletic projection. I just don't think that's a gamble you take to get Dean Kremer. If you look at the what the Twins got back for Paddack and Bader they were both lower ceiling players with good bats. That is what Zoll should have tried harder to do IMO. If Reyes doesn't work out then all is well. If he does that's the type of deal that get's GM's fired.

If the Twins can add a a another late inning type reliever that would lengthen the pen quite a bit. Giving them a better shot at the playoffs. I do wonder what the cost will be though.

I always felt Houston would hit. If you read the draft grades his bat mainly got dinged because they didn't believe the swing he had would produce enough power. So my biggest concern for him was would there be enough power there to make him more than a utility player. It seems at least in the minors that he is getting to his power just fine. If that remains the case he could up his profile to All Star potential as his defense is very good to great. BA was high man on his defense as they felt it was top notch and showed several highlight real plays of Houston's defense. He needs to stay consistent, but he is looking really good right now.

So how does this work for next year? Ryan, Bradley, Lopez, Ober and Kremer? No Preilipp, Abel, Mathews, or Rojas? Not sure I get why they needed another year of control. Kremer wasn't even deemed good enough for the Orioles starting rotation this year and got there due to injury. Also I don't get the infatuation this team has with injured arms. He's just coming back from a right quad strain and has a velocity dip. It's another head scratching move IMO. I already don't like Zoll as GM. Friedman would have got this done for Jimenez or Rosario or Olivares. prospects with lower ceilings rather than Reyes. Once Zoll is done with the Twins I don't see him in a GM chair if he is making move like this.

Giving up a potential star player for Kremer is why I hate deadline deals. Reyes with a batting line Jenkins would have been proud of. Yeah it's a long way to go and he might not get there, but young players that produce well against older competition have a better chance than most to turn into star players. Obviously the Twins scouts disagree or Zoll just doesn't care as much about the future as he does the present, but I fail to see given Kremer's recent performance how he is going to help this team? I get you can't hang onto to every prospect and you have to give to get and maybe I cling to prospects too much but I don't like this deal. I think the Orioles scouts did a marvelous job here. It might take some time but Reyes is clearly worth giving up Kremer IMO.

I had both Amick and Agbayani on my OK to trade list. Still I think those are solid pickups for the Mets. While Amick does struggle to make contact he does barrel the ball when he does hit it. It's a gamble as MLB pitching is good in and out of the zone. I think Agbayani is the true headliner though. His hit tool looks for real. He is young and while currently not ranked that high I think he has the tools to be a solid player. Hard to say if he can make it all the way as it is so hard and we just haven't seen that much from him, but a good get for the Mets IMO regardless of the current rankings. That being said these are players the Twins could afford to lose, Amick is a 1st baseman DH type if he even makes it and the swing and miss make him quite a long shot to make it. Agbayani isn't an up the middle prospect and those are generally easier to find. I think this is good deal for the Twins especially for a deadline deal. I'm guessing the Mets weren't getting a ton of interest in Minter and felt fine pulling the trigger. As noted Minter isn't a top of line K type reliever so not sure how many playoff bound teams would have been interested. Still given the state of the Twins pen this is a good get for them.

Baseball is crazy., Twins had no business winning that game and yet they did. Still it felt like the Royals did everything right in this one. Starting pitcher goes 8 and gives up 1 measly hit. All their bullpen has to do is not let more than 2 runs score and they win. They managed two quick outs and got to two strikes multiple times to try and get that last out. They brought in a lefty, lefty matchup to try and seal it and it all failed. Fair or not it just goes to show you can play the odds and have the lead until the last out and still get beat. For as much as I doubt this team there does seem to be some baseball magic with this group.

At least they are acknowledging trading from surplus makes sense. With Ryan slumping it would seem Jeffers and Larnach are the only pieces they could legitimately sell if going for it or not.

Yeah all those years I was behind Randy, just one more year and he'll be back to the ground ball machine. All the people that laughed at me and he waits until he is no longer a Twin to get there. This is the arm the Twins thought they were getting when they bought out his arb years. Not an ace per se, but a junk ball ground ball pitcher that could eat innings. It's fitting that his best game or one of his best as a pro is against the team that believed in him the most.

I don't see playoff teams being all that interested in Caratini. He's had one good month in June with a 1`,000 OPS. April was .680, May was an abysmal .475 OPS not OBP. June he had the 1.060 OPS and now in July he is back down to .586. I don't think there's enough consistency there for him to be all that much better than what teams have right now. Even if a team were interested I'm not sure the return would be worth it., It's certainly one way to get rid of having three catchers, but the Twins don't seem inclined to mess with the mojo the current team has. I'd be surprised if they moved him for a marginal return. I don't see them moving Jackson. He's currently hitting over .300 with a .789 OPS and is cheap the next three years or so. That is a good find if he can hit anything close to that as a backup catcher and should bridge the gap to Lackey. Also remember the Twins don't have any decent catchers even close in the minors. They need Jackson. If they are keeping Jeffers then they seem committed to three catchers IMO. They never did utilize the last player on the bench most of this season and I think there are enough players with options that they can maneuver if needed., If it were me I'd trade Jeffers, but if they want to go for it and not be afraid of the QO I can live with that. The 2027 Draft is supposed to be deep so they should have a chance to find someone decent if they can't or don't want to sign Jeffers long term.

Yeah Povich did not pan out but he was borderline top 100 prospect when they traded him and made top 100 lists while with the O's. Still they moved Cano to make room on the 40 man for Lopez and to give the O's another MLB arm to replace Lopez. In the end they mis-evaluated both players. They didn't think Cano would ever be that good and they thought Lopez would be very good. It ended up being the other way around. Baseball is a crazy game. Can make all kinds of right moves and still fail. FWIW I was as guilty as the FO on that trade. I praised them at the time for being bold and going after long term Setup\closer type reliever. He had made the All Star game that year. Still I'd think it has to sting some. I don't think they'd want to go back there, but you never know.

Just for the right handed bat and Raleigh has been having a down year. Sitting him might not hurt. They very well might not want Jeffers there just aren't many if any .900 OPS bats available beyond Jeffers though and it seems every team needs right handed bats. They could play him at first and DH when he is better than the alternative.

You might not, but I bet the org does. When is the last the Twins have traded for a player they have traded away? I can't think of one.

I agree it shouldn't, but just think about the PR mess they would have to face every time Cano came out to pitch. The announcer's from from both telecast's would recap the amount of capital it took in the Cano deal. Would you want one of your biggest mistakes as an organization out their in the public every time that player came in to pitch? A trade that makes the organization look like it doesn't know what it's doing? I'd think you would want that buried and hope no one remembers it. For an org that is trying to win fans back I don't think that's a look they'll want to have regardless of what deal they can get from Baltimore.

Man it's hard to believe how bad the Tigers have been this year. I had them winning the division and now it looks like they won't even be in the wild card race. Baseball is so crazy unpredictable.

I don't think the Twins would want that level of egg on their face. They gave him away in a deal that turned out to be one of their worst trades. Trading even more capital to get him back would be a delicious indictment on what a poor decision the FO made and how much capital they had to spend to get him back. I don't think the FO could handle the stories that would come out if they traded for him (i.e. they would have given up Cade Povich, Juan Nunez, Juan Rojas and Cano plus whatever they trade to get Cano back). I'm sure Orioles fans would get a good laugh out of it too as that would be quite the haul for Jorge Lopez who was a complete bust. So to sum it up. He might be a decent target just not for the Twins.

Yeah there is a reason he is the one they are willing to trade. I like Abel, Prielipp and Rojas better. He's also 27 and doesn't line up as well for 2028 when I think this next core should be established or establishing itself. I'd think big bucks Mr. Pohlad could find something similar (i.e 4th 5th starter) in the offseason for just money. I wouldn't be opposed to getting him. If the price was right. I just don't think we have what they need especially if we are going for it.

I'd think the M's would want more proven players than that to deal Hancock. Maybe Jeffers plus one of those two would do it. We'll have to see where the M's are at the deadline. They have a 3 game set with the Dodgers and then Twins before the deadline. They could be quite a ways back by then.
