  1. "He was a disaster a year ago so it seems to me your stements make no sense." I'm not sure why you would consider that a dig. Your stements do not make sense. Stements by their very nature, never make sense.
  2. Assuming it happens this way, I love the move. I've always thought Deduno would be better in the bullpen due to his high pitch counts. Gibson has the best chance of being in our rotation if/when we are a contender. It's time to see what he has. Side note: I put a 100 bones on the twins winning the world series today. I'm a sucker for a long shot

  4. You can really see the different stages of loss in the comments:Denial, anger, bargaining, etc. I'm at depression. Why can't we have anything nice?
  5. Hmmm. That sounds familiar for some reason
  6. For me it's not really a question of leadership, but I really prefer to root for good people. When I find out a player I've been rooting for is a d-bag or a violent criminal, it makes me furious. That's why I like to see these kind of articles . I'm also happy to hear that Buxton and Meyer are quality people since they will be important to the Twins. I'm a little worried about some of the things I've read about Kohl Stewart and Eddie Rosario. They are still very young though.
  7. It sure is nice to see all the Twins on this list. A couple years back we didn't have much. The Cubs and Boston sure have a lot in the top 100. I'm suprised that I don't hear people saying they have the best farm systems. Pretty scary when you think of how could Boston now. I'm sure the Cubbies will find a way to screw up though.
  8. Man, I just hate the Yankees and what they stand for. I'll admit that a lot of that has to do with them dominating the Twins in the 2000's. Is this a bad idea for them? No, they can afford it. The problem is that it's like your playing chess against someone who gets extra moves every once in a while. Then you find out that half their pieces are taking steroids.
  9. It seems like a lot of money, but if he doesn't live up to the contract the Yankees know ways of getting out of it.
  10. I don't think you use the title "Finding Optimism" if you really believe the offense will be greatly improved, but the points are valid. Willingham just needs to move towards his career averages. With the young players you just never know. Most likely they will struggle. I think most Twins fans would be happy with a league average offense.
  11. I think they just need to adjust the dollar amount a little. It's better than the old system where teams would trade for players just to get the compensation pick when they left for free agency. Without a salary cap you just have to do something to help out the smaller markets. The problem is every team tries to subvert every system they put in place.
  12. I have always liked Deduno. He is fun to watch pitch. Unfortunately the injury and his high pitch counts worry me. I bet he would be great as a long reliever.
  13. Pencil me down for shocked as well. It may not be the two pitchers that I would of picked (what do I know anyways), but this is pretty much what I wanted them to do. They got two pitchers that should at least stop the pitching staff from being a total disaster and did not mortgage the future by giving up prospects or draft picks. I can not remember the last time the Twins did what fans wanted. Signing Joe Mauer I guess, but it's still rare.
  14. Dan likes this post very much. Dan can't wait to see these prospects with the Twins. Dan thinks we will be seeing the other end of the standings soon. Dan also thinks Rickey Henderson is hilarious.
  15. Not sure if I'm the only one, but I have to go into task manager and end task on the flash player to get the site to work properly. Otherwise it uses all my CPU and it makes everything extremely slow.
  16. Nice article! You combined two of my favorite things. Hopeful twins predictions and Game of Thrones. Maybe we should throw some wolves in the opponents dug out as well?
  17. I think Arcia has the potential to be a plus AARP player. Does he have a nickname yet?
  18. What if we just abandoned our starting pitchers and had all relievers? We would have to cut down the position players to ten, but that would just take away the opportunity for Gardy to screw up pinch hitting. Double win. You could have the best bullpen arms in the game with all the money you would save. Technically someone would have to start. We would just draw straws for it. I have to think we could have a better pitching staff that way. At the very least it would be interesting to see.
  19. I found this in and article about Micheal Wachas success this year on mlb.com: That is what is known as dominance. Well, at least that's what most people not named Wacha would call it. "I wouldn't say that," the rookie said. "I just go out there and try to pitch to contact." He would of been the perfect Twin! The 8 strikeouts per game might be a bit fancy for us though.
  20. I read some of the comments below the espn article. One of they was commenting on how idiotic the idea of the "Cardinals way" is. Apparently they talk about that a lot. I didn't know other teams did that too. From what I got from the comment it sounded pretty similar to the Twins way. Stability in management and developing prospects. Sounds like they are just doing a better job of it. I think the Twins need to realize that stability is only good when you are successful. Otherwise you just need to keep trying to get people who can get the job done. With that said, clearly the Cardinals have had some luck. They are very lucky that Pujols decided to reject their offer. They are lucky to of had their pitching prospects work out well and not have injury problems. Its kind of like poker. If you make the right decisions you will be successful in the long term, but success in the short term is very reliant on the cards falling your way.
  21. I wonder if Buxton leaving the league had anything to do with a few players hitting the wall. A guy with that kind of talent makes everyone around him better.
  22. I don't see how having a catcher who is worse defensively and offensively is better either. 80 games catching sounds about right to me. I wonder how switching to first would effect Mauers hall of fame chances. That would be a concern for Joe I would think.
  23. Is it just me or did the Twins Management say this same exact thing last off season. It may have been Terry Ryan who said it though. I'm not sure who you can get on this kind of deal who will help the team even get to .500 next season. I think the reason they say this is to explain why they don't get the better free agents. Like Anibal Sanchez last year. Well.... He wouldn't take a two year deal. What can we do?
  24. To be fair, that was written a while ago. I do agree with you though. Between Dozier and Rosario the twins should be good at second base. I wonder it Doziers improvement caused the Twins not to sign Guerrero. It would make sense to me.
