  1. The moderators are good here. It's important to keep things civil so people aren't afraid to post their opinions. I once even reported a post by a moderator and they deleted their own post. That was a great day. Calling someone a racist without concrete proof is a mistake. It's an assertion that is impossible to disprove and many people will believe it without any kind of evidence. I can understand that this would be difficult not to do if you are sensitive to racism. Certainly racism is still a problem. I was shocked by it when I moved from Minnesota to Florida.
  2. This is a good article/video from the Washington Post. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/nationals/bryce-harper-bravely-stands-up-to-baseballs-foolish-unwritten-rules/2015/09/30/8408de26-677f-11e5-9ef3-fde182507eac_story.html . Wish I new how to change the name of links on the mac as well
  3. I agree with you, but they did help him hit free agency faster. That will be good for him. Of course they risked his chance of being a mlb player by hurting his development. Everything seems to have worked out perfectly for him now.
  4. Couldn't help but notice Carew used the qualifier "Since we've been down here". (hope you can appreciate the irony)
  5. I see the future being Gordon at SS and Polanco and 2nd. Think of the speed we will have by then. There's not really any one else that I think can make it as a full time starter. I think we should trade Plouffe this offseason and Dozier next offseason for MOAR prospects. Keeping the farm system strong will make the Twins competitive for many years. Unless they could get a catcher of course.
  6. They have been pretty competitive in those games they lost. It is great to watch meaningful baseball again and seeing our long awaited prospects play well. Go Twins!
  7. I take it you did not see this years hard knocks. J.J. Watt works out more in a week than Mauer does all year. Makes 9 million less annually too.
  8. I always root for Joe, but his work ethic has irked me these last few years. If he was doing well it would not bother me. This is his job that he is paid well to do. He has lived to easy of a life. To be fair I always did like Hrbek and he was not known for his work ethic either.
  9. I would agree with the article that bringing up Mauer into unrelated discussions gets annoying. Other than that he deserves all the criticism he gets. Mauer is a bad first baseman with little hope of improvement that we can't get rid of. Also for a first baseman who makes 23 million a year, I would expect them to hit the weight room a bit in the off season.
  10. Lucroy would be the best. I don't think we could get him for Plouffe alone though. I liked how there #1 priority was a GM who can develop pitching prospects. Good to know other clubs have that problem. Oops! This was already covered. I liked the "No backsies"
  11. I would say Rosario is the best pure hitter of all our prospects. If off the field problems don't get in the way he will figure it out.
  12. I think they have a chance. The O's have Joseph who is better defensively, cheaper, and has been hitting well this year. Weiter has really not had that great of a year, has an injury history, and is tall for a catcher which can be a red flag for many teams (probably should be for us too). The Twins have a good young nucleus and a nice new ball park. This should make them fairly attractive to free agents.
  13. I was actually pretty against this trade. I thought the Twins were such a fringe contender that I didn't think it was worth getting rid of any prospects this year. Looks like I was wrong. Good move by Ryan and I'm glad he didn't make any others. While I'm admitting things I'll mention that I never thought Hicks would hit major league pitching either.......
  14. They could move Travis Harrison back to 3rd. I do realize he hasn't been doing that well, but you never know with prospects.
  15. When Plouffe started playing 3rd, the best thing we hoped for is that he would have trade value when Sano was ready. I actually happened! They should trade him and take the best deal they can get. Even if it's just for prospects.
  16. I don't understand this move. Hu like most pitching prospects has a high risk of busting. That is why you need a lot of them! Really this is not the year the Twins should be getting rid of prospects. Maybe next year when we have a better idea of what players have a future with the Twins. If you're going to trade prospects for relievers you better be one reliever away from being a World Series contender. Even then it seldom works out. Look at how Detroit traded away pieces to try to fix their bullpen the last couple of years. At least in their shoes I could see the reason for it. Most teams in the league seem to realize this. I think it's time for Ryan to start looking for a successor.
  17. Why is Buxton aways running around so fast. Act like you've been there before. You don't see Hunter doing that. Clearly he has no future in MLB.
  18. Did you post something about Parmalee on an Orioles message board? I noticed he's done pretty well since his call up.
  19. I have always thought the All Star game voting was a joke. Remember when the Yankee's were dominating it? I hated that. It bothers me a lot less now that it is the Royals. They do deserve to have someone to root for. I decided just to embrace it this year and voted for all Royals and Cardinals players. At least I'll get to see my guys win for once
  20. I still think the trade was a good idea. Span was not enough to make the Twins a winner the last few years. When you take risks and/or gambles you can't judge them by the results. You can only judge them by the information you had at the time and if the gamble was worth the risk you were taking. It clearly was to me.
  21. oh.. well that makes more sense. It's a pretty confusing article otherwise.
  22. From what the way I read the article he said that if buxton does well in AA ball they should bring him up. I think thats what the title implies as well.
  23. I'll agree it's a weak league since I won it last year. It's a basic format for hitters:runs, rbi, home runs, stolen bases, avg, and on base percentage. Mauer only has a chance of doing well at 2 of those categories. Up to 4 if he goes crazy. Recent history does not show that as being a likely scenario. Sorry but he's just not that great as a first baseman. Could of been in the hall of fame as a catcher though. It just didn't work out.
  24. I've never been against Mauer, but he did not get drafted in my fantasy baseball draft. I think that says a lot.
