  1. I think you should interview Ervin Santana. He is a big addition after all. We tend to forget that.
  2. I can't believe anyone would give Rosario and Turner the same grade for hitting! I do like games though. My guess is: Kepler-A Rosario-B Walker-C Turner-D Harrison-E
  3. Does that include interpretive dance? I bet John would kill at that!
  4. This really is a great site and the moderators are a big reason for it. Thank you. Always good to hear from Mr. Bonnes too. Hope you get into the college you want
  5. He really could. Remember when he was drafted? That's exactly how you should start your career in professional baseball. You can tell he appreciates everything he has and works hard to get more. That's the kind of player I like to root for. It would be great to see him on the Twins this year!
  6. I like Dozier well enough, but I would just hang on to him through arbitration. The Twins will not miss much if he leaves at that point. He is in his prime now.
  7. I was thinking about the importance of the different tools and I would like to hear what the members of Twins Daily think. We've had some toolsy guys flame out, so it is interesting to think about what tools are really important. One thing I got out of moneyball (the movie) was that the hit tool is underrated. That and walks are good of course. If you could give Aaron Hicks that tool he'd be amazing. Rosario could be a major leaguer with that tool alone. Perhaps we can meld them together. I'll let Mr Swanson do the photoshop. Here's my opinion on rating position prospects: Hit tool 50 %, fielding 18%, power 17%,speed 10%,arm 5%. Of course some of these tools generally go together. How would you rate them?
  8. I also prefer smart people in management, but this has not worked out for the Houston Lastros yet. I think you need to have some balance. Time will tell of course.
  9. Anyone who does not think Hicks is a bust at this point is delusional. Hitting is the hardest part of baseball. He does not have that. Never did. The fact that the has had any success at all says a lot about his work ethic and intelligence. I'll give him credit for what he has done, but he is not a major league baseball player and never will be one.
  10. If Molitor wasn't the front runner the whole time we would all be very happy with this hire. I agree that Kwak nailed it. The thing I like about Molitor is he just seems smarter than Gardy. Managers usually can't win games with their decisions, but they can definitely lose them. If you haven't seen that, then you haven't been watching Twins baseball. I also can not see how having a strong relationship with ownership is a bad thing. Anytime you want someone to spend millions of dollars it's good if they like you. Which he probably will do. He has to care more about winning than anything else. He wouldn't be in the HOF otherwise. That may cause some tension with Terry Ryan though.
  11. I can't believe you threw down the "c" word for that. That's out of control It really doesn't make sense though. As far as Pinto goes, I don't know what I'd do with him. With where his defense is he can only be a back up catcher and bench bat. Gardy doesn't like to play him that way though. The only option is to trade him or get a new manager.
  12. That really is true of all sports. When you enjoy playing in the rain, it's because you love it. Glad you are having fun AJ.
  13. Easy there jinxy mcjinxerson . I do agree with you though. Berrios has been the best thing about the Twins system this year. Hopefully he can keep it up! Great article Seth. Love hearing the analysis that does not show up in the box scores.
  14. This year was all about seeing the prospects start to play. Once I found out about Sano's injury I lost all hope for the year. Looking back on it, I should of been counting my blessings. Every major prospect has been injured or underperformed. Trevor May did do better than I expected until he got injured. I guess the lost year gives the pitching a chance to catch up with the position players. Although it might be the reverse situation once we can actually contend. Really my hope was that guys would start to figure it out in the majors this year and get close to contending next year. We can push that back a year. Hopefully we don't turn into the Royals. I have to give Ryan some credit in loading the farm system. Just got unlucky. Hard for me to give Gardy any credit for anything though. I am a little tired about the complaining about Kubel and Bartlett. They were place holders for Sano, Buxton, and Rosario. It just didn't work out.
  15. That's too bad! We had a lot of hope for you once Mr. Roberts.
  16. I'm not willing to do any research, but I'm willing to bet that how injuries work is an evolutionary or intended process. It really wouldn't make sense in the wild for injuries to instantly take you out. You need time to finish beating up the other cave man and take his woman. I've had the same experience in sports as you guys, especially the part about getting older. Pretty sure I was injured running to first base playing softball last year. Total BS
  17. I do not ever remember reading this kind of article on Twins Daily. Do I have the wrong website? I guess I've only been checking it for 4 years or so. Unless...... never mind. I don't want to get to optimistic
  18. That guy sounds pretty good. The Twins should try to trade for him
  19. Great article. My favorite quote is "Optimism is not a strategy". That is probably the worst problem the Twins have. Outside of Gardy. I think Terry Ryan does a good job of his own version of Moneyball. Clearly the Rays have a different strategy, but have been successful with it. It will be tough for Oakland win a World Series without dominant pitching. Although that is not really an option. The main thing I took from the article is do not listen to fans. We are to reactive. You just need to have a plan and stick with it. That is why I like Ryan. Gardy has does not seem to have a plan. It's all from the gut with him.
  20. Very few people have as much success in sports as you have. I know most of us would of loved to have been in your shoes for a few days. I always enjoyed your post . You seem like a genuinely good person. Keep us updated!
  21. I agree. I do not ever remember Boras backing down. Who knows, maybe the cubs didn't like what they were hearing from him either. Not to mention that most of his clients hit free agency once they can. I will trust that the twins made the right decision. It will be nice to have a top shelf shortstop prospect to follow on Twinsdaily for the next few years!
  22. Seems like a solid pick. Passing on a guy like Jackson is the kind of thing you can really regret though. I would of been surprised to see them take a Boras client. Guessing that was the deciding factor.
  23. "How do you spend your days when Alex Meyer starts? Do you turn the lights down and listen to Kenny G? I only ask cause if you did, that would be really weird." That is great! The rest of the report left something to be desired. Not your fault though, everyone just had a bad day.
  24. Pfft! Sellouts I remember when they cared about the music.
  25. Typical Twins. Always keeping their prospects in the minors too long.
