They said last night on TV, they have used the same lineup 4 days in a row, the first time this has happened since 2014, Justin could hardly believe it.

I would argue being buyers is a stretch, sure they attempted to approve the very, very back of the rotation, and brought in a couple capable bullpen guys, which would have been a decent/good improvement for a team that was 5 or 10 guys over but it was a .500.

Isn't a bit early to say the Twins have collapsed? I mean they have pretty much been a sub .500 team all year. They could go 15-7 and still miss the playoffs, but looking back would anybody say the team collapsed the second half if that happened? I think the only way to define a second half collapse this year is to end the season with less than 9 wins in the last 22. Any more wins than that and they will have finished better then they played all year. @chpettit19 comment should have been the last one, because he hit the nail on the head.

All night I kept telling my son, the twins are going to come back and win this game, that is until Culpepper and Jenkins struck out in the 8th, then I told him, now we will probably lose. It sucks losing this game when Detroit was trying to give it to us.

As of right now IMO they should start with a 6 man rotation of Ryan, Bradley, Lopez, Prielipp, Abel and Ober or Kremer (keep one the other should go), Matthews an Rojas start in the majors and are the first two starters to fill in for injury. Let that go a couple of times and see how it shakes out. If they trade Ryan, which they should if he comes back and pitches well the last few starts (if not you don't trade him)you move Matthews or Rojas to starter and hopefully get a arm that is close to be depth. Zebby will be 27 next year, Prielipp 26 and Rojas 24 there is no reason for them to be in the minors. They have Gallagher, Paredes, Armstrong, Lewis, Culpepper as depth (not saying that is great) and if they feel the need sign a veteran type with some options to pitch in AAA.

Envisioning the 2027 Twins Starting Lineup
MapleGroveTwinsFan replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Before they sign anybody, they have to figure out what the heck they are doing, if they bring in an outfielder, they have to figure out what to do with Keashall (because if Buxton is healthy, him and Jenkins have to play), does that mean they are getting rid of of Bell, Larnach, Wallner, and everybody else (beside ERod) that doesn't have options left, or do they suck it up with Keashall at 2nd until Houston is ready? If I am in charge, I reach out to Arraez and Lowe to see if either are interested, and at the same time I am calling Colorado and seeing if Erod or Tait could be the start of a deal for Goodman, (Maybe they would have interest in Laranch/Wallner/ or Lewis (not sure they have a place for him, but it is the Rockies so you never know), with maybe Festa or even Adams, Winokur or Mercedes or someone in that range and some young, young prospect if needed. I would overpay and maybe a big way if I needed to, you know to win and show the fans you really are taking big swings. Sign Arozarena for left.. Arozarena (LF), Buxton (CF), Jenkins (RF), Lee (3B), Culpepper (SS), Arraez (2B), Keashall (1B), Goodman(C), Bench: Caranti, Erod, Kreidler, Clemens, GG (or Lewis if nobody wants him)- 165 replies

Envisioning the 2027 Twins Starting Lineup
MapleGroveTwinsFan replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Next year is the year to go for it and Jeffers at 20 plus million and Bell at close to 10 million are the guys to go for it with? IMO there really isn't a FA that is worthy of signing and continuing to block prospects. They need to get creative and trade away some guys even if it is an overpay and for middle of the order type of hitter.- 165 replies

Envisioning the 2027 Twins Starting Lineup
MapleGroveTwinsFan replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The brewers traded Caleb Durbin after is rookie year at age 25, and is the definition of league average hitter, and Andruw Monasterio 29 and is utility player who at his best is a league average hitter and in return got a 24/25 year old Kyle Harrison who has been in and out of the majors since he was 21 and is 10-3 with a 2.79 ERA and 127 K's in 103 innings and David Hamilton who plays good defense but can't hit (but not much than Durbin) That is a win in my book, imagine the Twins trading any of the 24/25 year old rookies for a pitcher like that (Lewis, Miranda, Julien, Larnach, Wallner, Martin, am I missing anybody else)- 165 replies

Maybe a post for another thread, but what would a trade for Hunter Goodman look like he is locked up though 29, Would some combination of Erod/Winokur/Festa or Soto and Wallner get anywhere near?- 165 replies

My hope for Jenkins for this year is to put up numbers somewhere between what Culpepper (.907 OPS ) and Max Clark (.681 OPS) have done this year, and my fingers are crossed he doesn't look like Jackson Holiday when he was called up the first time (Completely over matched). But I am excited he will be getting big league at bats this year no matter how he performs this year so he can hit the road next year with some experience. What I am saying is no matter what he does this year, it was right move even though it is too late. Watching the kids (Culpepper, Jenkins and Keaschall, Lee and hopefully Erod ) makes this team more exciting no matter the game outcomes and you can possibly, maybe see the FO actually has a vision going forward. Hopefully attendance increases and the Twins get up Lackey earlier as well (Not calling for it now, just saying I don't want to go though this again with him)
-
absolutely, lets ignore he was traded for a 26 year old pitcher with 8.6 WAR and Byron Chourio, then traded from a 62 win Marlins to a 93 win San Diego team that lost 3-2 in the Division series to the eventual World Series champion for 4 minor league players (one being Jakob Marsee), Then traded from a terrible Giants team to Philly who moved guys around just to get him into the lineup for one of their top prospects and other one.

absoletly ridiculous take. The guy that just turned 24 with a career WAR of 3.1 (oWAR) 4.8 .in 174 games, OPS+ of 115, 29 SB and was 9th in the ROY (after 49 games) isn't good enough to play for a sub .500 team or possibly the league? Are you kidding, after the players the Twins have run though here? He didn't have a good game last night, the one over is head was like watching beer league softball players. The one to wall was no where near as bad, and I have seen many, many guys not make that play, still not good though. But him being in CF is just as much on the Twins as it is on him. Having him in LF and Erod or Jenkins in CF, they maybe, likely, possibly win that game. After watching some of the guys on other teams that look absolutely terrible at the plate you don't think they would love to have Keashall and figure out what to do with him offensively?

Leaving a pitcher in too long no doubt has hurt a couple of times, but how many times have they gotten an extra inning from starters (meaning less innings from lesser relief pitchers) that hasn't happened in the past. MAtthews just went 7 with 105 pitches in a win, give me that over pulling a guy rolling after 5 or 6 with pitches still in the arm.

So you want to the replace their best hitter with a lesser hitter so we can complain how not how poor the offense is but how terrible it is? It would be a different story if really anybody on the team was actually hitting but they are not. I will take what we get with his defense over what the rest of the guys on the roster give us with the bat. Maybe one or three or four of them turn it on and then we can discuss taking him out of the lineup.

Yes, lets put the guy with a .909 OPS and over .300 BA the last two months in the minors so we have another thing to complain about. (His BA and OPS are both better than Bell, Larnach, Clemens, Jeffers, Buxton, Lewis, Lee, Roden) Christ I could have just said everybody on the Twins Roster! When a guy is going like Keashall offensively you play him and either live with the defensive or DH him. Is having Bell at 1B so he can DH better or worse than having him in CF and Lewis at 1B? Or do like somebody else mentioned stick him in left and put a real center fielder in CF.

What team of the past? They are projected to win 78 games, last year they won 70 (trading away players not for them), 82 in (2024), 87 (2023), 78 (2022), 73 in 2021 and this year they are playing against one of the worst collections of AL team in decades? And it is very likely they are about to run out basically the same team next year, because if anybody has looked isn't a lot of mid to top end free agents. (Arozarena, Seiya Suzuki, Brandon Lowe,Luis Arraez) Maybe they could sign one of those 2b and move Lee and Clemens (Basically their two highest WAR guys) to super utility roles

They got with their pants down a few years back (2022) with no depth and they have decided that won't happen again at the cost of developing players. IMO

My predication (If Buxton goes on the DL) is they call up Wallner and only play him against RH pitchers and he puts up an OPS of .800 plus and hits a few bombs, The Twins decide to give him one more chance next year as starting RF, they offer Larnach Arb, they pick up the option on Bell and they go into 27 with the team that has played under .500 ball for multiple years.

Jenkins isn't up because of poor roster construction, injuries (him and Erod)and Erod having no options. If they Twins call Jenkins up before Erod is just another bad decision in line with other bad decisions. As much as I would love Jenkins to be up, Erod needs to be the next guy up, for reasons others have said (40 man, next year possible lock out, and Erod would need to play less than Jenkins). This FO can't seem to get out of its own way. I have said it before but as of right now the Twins go into 27 with the same issues they have right now, I believe Jeffers is the only free agent and his active roster spot must be taken with Erod. two catchers, Lewis, Clemens, Lee, Culpepper, Erod, Buxton, Keashall, Larnach, Martin, Kriedler, and Bell. With Wallner, GG, Fedko, Mendez and Roden still on the 40 man. So I can't see how they possibly put Jenkins on the 40 man until Buxton injury happens. 27 looks a lot like the last few years of .500 baseball.

Not sure I get the logic of going to arb with him likely getting 7 million or so or paying him to avoid arb , then turning around and trading him. Why not just spend that money on the type of player they want or need? So far the picking up of the 10 million option on Polanco hasn't worked too well, but lets give it another go? Neither did paying Farmer 6.3 (plus the 250k buyout in 2025) to avoid arbitration. If the Twins don't have a minor league player/prospect that can give them under 5 WAR over the next 6 years the FO should be fired.

Actually he is saying hello, because his OPS hasn't dropped .200 points not because he is 21 or because the Tigers don't have better options. The idea that a player 23 or younger has to out perform guys in their late 20's in AAA is crazy talk. If those guys in their late 20's weren't doing that they were would selling insurance or playing overseas not playing in the minors. A 21 got to AAA because they have the skills to be a superstar someday. By that logic the Stevensons, Keirsay and Wallner's of the world would be getting all the chances and the young guys would just wouldn't and the league wouldn't have the JROD, Merrill, Tatis, Chourio, Acuna's and others.
