    I support Tom for out of necessity cleaning house, starting with his brother, Joe. Tom probably doesn't know much about baseball, but he knew enough that Falvey wasn't getting it done. Falvey should have been canned from the start, that cost the Twins from doing much better. We need to face reality that most owners are in it to make a buck & Twins aren't a big market. So, Twins have to copy themselves more like the Brewers, TB, & CLE; to better spend their money by drafting, player evaluation, development & smart trading. Not coping NYY by throwing big money around unwisely & ignoring what is important. I'm willing to give Tom Pohlad some time to prove himself. So far, I like what he's doing.

    BP games or some variance of them are looked down by many teams like bunting, baserunning & defense, But teams that overcome these negative mindsets & correctly incorporate these practices will find success.

    I love the OF eventhough there could be injuries, we have depth. Although we are still weak at 2B & catcher. IMO it won't be long until Houston will upgrade tremendously the INF. Although Lackey will highly impact the team, he's still a ways off & we'll suffer until he gets to that point. Pitching will be much better to start the season, So the team will be very interesting team to watch, with an eye on the near future. A promising young MLB-ready catcher with options has been on my wishlist for a long time, to be the 3rd catcher to help uphold the position in what could be a long season there.

    IMO, to talk about a catching pipeline, we need a coaching staff to develop them. Do we have one? Lackey is our most promising defensively & closest to the MLB. Still he's still a little ways off. Having hope in a bunch of catching prospects that can hit doesn't matter much unless they can stick there. Keep Lackey at premium catching & let him focus there, he's the real thing.

    Twins need someone who has a better idea on how to manage the rotation & BP. Overextending the rotation & burning out short relief is a constant result after many years. Prielipp should have been placed in the BP a long time ago. There are many elite SPs who started out in the BP. Their reluctance to do so is their down fall.

    I've been hopeful, but after the lost series with the A's, it'd take a series win against CWS to regain my faith in them this season. It has been too little too late to over take the last season deadline & nothing burger offseason. It wasn't surprising they lost to CWS but for them to make a move this was the time.

    The time is right, bring up Emma & play him. They should have brought him up when Martin went down.

    I'm all for LH hitters but the main point here is that there have been a logjam of them at the cOF position by collecting & hoarding them. Therefore as you stated, the younger ones aren't getting the opportunities & we have no idea in what they are capable of doing, not building their value & know what to do with them, plus delaying players like Jenkins to come up. We are forced to trade young players not knowing (by a long shot) their full potential. IMO. that's poor management.

    Independent what happens; IMO, FA isn't the answer. We need to develop our own. There is a youth movement & we need to fan that flame. There will be needs but we have players who we could & should traded to fill them.

    What gets me is how some say those who can play several positions well, as having no position. Yet saying those who are experimently put in various positions, because of their bat & play poorly, as super-utility. That's absurb. In the past & maybe a little bit yet today, Twins have hyped-up defensively challenged players as good defenders. CF is a premium defensive position, how can they keep putting Keaschal there when Buxton isn't there? IMO, Twins will be better with Buxton, Jenkins & Emma in the OF (when they are all healthy) & Keaschal is the worst option there & is destined for DH. Don't get me wrong, I love his bat & want him in the lineup; but I've advocated to keep him at 1B/DH from the beginning.

    IMO, we can't have too many pitchers who can give them 2-3 quality MLB innings with options, to give relief to the rotation & BP. Instead of wasting their bullets in AAA, trying to extend them & end up getting hurt.

    Twins seems to have had problems to draft & develop draftees into high end SPs. Our greatest success stories so far are Ober, Matthews, Festa & Prielipp, together with many failures, some have had success elsewhere. Twins have had much more success in obtaining other young pitchers. who have had a foundation in teams like MIA & TB, & tweak them. CLE, MIL & LAD are other teams that develop good pitchers but don't like to trade them to us. So I concure that Twins would be better off to focus on positional players & trade them for promising MLB-ready SPs with good foundations & tweak them. MIA have had problems with developing hitters; Pablo was a good start of a probable relationship that was made in heaven, that didn't materialize.

    Twins finally improved their BP this deadline but SD, IMO, has the best. Twins are finally concerned about defense but still need work. The game was a heart break but not surprising, considering the conditions. To change the topic a little. Baldelli liked to go to his short relief early, Shelton likes to stick with his rotation longer. Who's wrong? IMO, they're both wrong. I'm not crazy how either use their BP. Many didn't give CWS much of a chance to get out the basement this season. I really liked what they have done & expected them to do much better than many expected. One thing I really like is that they put their promising pitching in the BP instead of wasting their bullets in AAA. CWS's BP was expected to be one of their greatest weakness but they turned them around to be one the better BP in MLB. Johann Santana started out in the BP & became the most elite SP of his time. I don't buy the philosophy that if you put someone in the BP, you lose him as a SP. IMO,the best way to get our SPs feet wet in the MLB is put them in the BP. To keep both the rotation & short relief fresh & healthy, you need a heavy dose of long relief & spot starts from our young SPs. I'd like the Twins start doing this, IMO, they'd be pleasantly surprised.

    Good take Sam. Larnach is one of the many who Twins targeted to model their philosophy. That philosophy was a failure & many (Sano, Julien & Wallner; to name a few) couldn't readjust to the league. Larnach struggled but gradually adjusted. IMO, Larnach will continue to adjust & will continue to contribute.

    I suggested Lewis at 1B when we still had Correa but Twins had a thing about getting a 1yr FA 1Bman & camp him there & inhouse candidates never get the opportunity to grow at the position. Lewis is a natural there, keep him there, better 1B now & in the future & save some money for the time being. I like Clemens but his best position is the crowded cOF.

    Jenkins is suffering from Twins' fetish of collecting & hoarding LH hitting cOfers. Outman was a lost cause but we still have Rodon & Emma ahead of him to find out what they have & what to do with them. I don't like this situation & I'd love to see Jenkins take that next step but until these two are given every opportunity to prove themselves, he'll have to wait.

    Buck has battled a sore hip for a good part of the season, so his defensive stats would indicate that. Even with a sore hip, he's not that bad & does not justify moving him off CF, especially when we don't have anyone, yet who can replace him.

    We need all the pitching we can get. Ober provides MLB innings & who knows, his velo may return. Larnach is expendable, yet I wouldn't trade Larnach unless we can get a good return.

    Twins' fans are usually low key. Sometimes it gets frustrating, they seem like they really don't get into the game, I'd like it more if they did but that's the way they are. That doesn't necessarily mean that they don't care.

    We got some fantastic athletic prospects, Some really like Jenkins & Culpepper because of their bats, I'm more excited with Lackey & Houston because of their gloves.

    The deadline drastically changed the BP, why wasn't something done earlier? Nevertheless, Twins in the past, often showcased & elevated acquired RPs to the closer role. IMO, that was a terrible move, a RP getting used to a new team while dealing with the pressure of that role, usually is asking too much. They are going slower with Hoffman. Another shortcoming is overusing the BP which ended up burning them out. In turn, burning out the rotation. When the postseason came, our pitching was shot. Hopefully, that won't happen this year. I normally not a fan of a 6-man rotation but IMO, this season, it would be a good idea. Rojas, Morris & Prielipp would be very good candidates for long relief/ spot starting (I'm not talking about mop ups) who'd help save arms.

    Martin played a very big role in tonight's victory; He hit that big HR to start the game & kept on hitting to keep fueling the rallies. He was shy a 3 bagger for the cycle. OBP & baserunning is more important than most people give credit. His job is getting on base & scoring runs. OPS is important for those who drive in runs. For me, Kremer was the pivoting point on how well the deadline went. IMO, Zoll did well, far better than this recent long drought, Now, let's go on a long tear, for the division.

    For some reason, the Twins seemed uncharacteristically unmotivated after the deadline. The KC series was very disheartening, they played much better ball against, at the moment, the best team in the MLB. With a little bit more grit, they could have swept them. Without Buck & Ryan, after losing many SPs early, they keep fighting back. IMO, they are trending in the right direction. Let's see. New young blood seems to help; Let's keep it up & see what we have.
