  1. I say cut in half all major league salaries. then you can cut in half the ticket prices which are crazy. unless you're sitting in the upper deck, then more people can come to a game instead of selling season tickets that could cost as much as $100,000 for a family of four. however, if you're in New York Yankees with tickets has had $1,600 or more, how much is that for 81 games? it's unbelievable but I seem to be the only one complaining about. it's like paying $10 a pound for bananas and people do. as for extensions, I have seen a number of times a player gets a huge extension and the next year he's not as good. you know he knows he doesn't have to be but hopefully he doesn't really think like that. just doesn't work as well every year. The other team gets to understand players weaknesses at the plate and take advantage of it. but then you have to make adjustments and sometimes they are able to. maybe Lewis is a case in point on that. as for the pitching how many guys in a season have arm surgeries? throwing a ball like that your arm wasn't designed for that. those ligaments and tendons break down. super nice guy Mr. Lopez gets paid what 23 million dollars. this is why I certainly don't recommend fat salaries for a guy who's only going to play 15% of the team's games. we traded the best hitter in baseball for average for a guy that plays 15% of the team's games. go ahead and tell me because I don't understand that. Rod Carew would come just to watch Arraez hit.. I think a player needs 3 years on the major League level to get a large contract. based on the crazy money today, look at Joe Ryan. I think he's making around 6 million million and next year isn't it going to be about 13 million so we finally starts to get the big money but look what's happened to him in the second half. how is he even worth the 6 million when he can't pitch the second half of the season? I just say start taking a chance beginning in year four. The tram will have a lot better chance that way.
  2. I would like to do a quick comparison. the most money Harmon killerbrew made in a season was $110,000. players were being paid $10,000 for the season like. Jim Katt made $13,000 one year. with today's economy, let's just add a zero to that. $110,000. 1,100,000. you see the rate of inflation isn't even close and that is how ticket prices have gone also. Mr. Lopez, what a wonderful person! $23,000 to play 15% of the Minnesota twins games. that's crazy. I hope the twins don't decide to put crazy money in the pockets of the dudes that pitch the ball because their arms can go down very quickly and they still get paid.
  3. I don't proofread my talk texting and this Google stuff is just ridiculous. it'll put a period in the middle of a sentence a? where it doesn't belong. no question marks where they do belong. it's crazy. I have decent pronunciation but I don't worry about it on here. Yes, I realize what you said. part of that mostly is true. Jeffers would like to stay but if someone offers him a lot more money naturally he's going to take it. the players association wanted 3 years instead of six which would absolutely ruin baseball. they want it so they can leave the team that drafted them in 3 years. so yes, what you say is very true. there's no loyalty. it's a business correct sir, but it's not exactly like a regular job. when a fan goes to a New York Yankees game and they've had $1,600 seats for quite a while. when I saw that I thought now we are exceeding football crisis which only have 10 games a season. this sport has 81. why do you need to charge $1,600? we need to understand that baseball is much more difficult to rate a potential draft pick over other sports. what's his name to catcher from Seattle? who was so fantastic last year this year? he's nothing. you just don't know when a guy that's pitching that baseball plays every five games. he's maybe because they don't pitch the whole game so he's probably pitching about 15% of his teams games and making over $20 million. who wouldn't want to be that guy. he can watch his fellow workers work 85% of the time and he doesn't have to do anything on the field. I try to make the point with people and I've yet to find anybody who understands so maybe it's just me who's stupid. who is worth a million dollars to play 162 ball games? who is worth $70 million to do the same? are we crazy or what paying these people that kind of money? it makes no sense. if you cut the prices by 70% pay the players 70% less. they'd still come out if that was the going rate because they're still making more than most anywhere else. if you want to pay a million to somebody, give it to the doctor who just saved your dad who has heart issues or give a heart transplant pay them $2 million. that's where it comes in worth it. not a ball game. 1999, I saw the Vikings play the Ravens in Baltimore. I sat in the corner of the end zone halfway up next to the next section. the price of the ticket was $35. that's reasonable. whatever it is now is not reasonable and seeing Minnesota twins tickets behind home plate. very few people get to sit there because the price is extraordinarily high. this needs to stop. it's never going to end. when are we going to have the first billion dollar a year player? you see how crazy that sounds. don't go. I boycott all major League sports. I will never go to another game. I have my big screen television. it's the only way I'm going to do it and if everybody would do that. we might get better prices and the players wouldn't be laughing at our faces.
  4. this is how it's been now for several decades and Bryce Harper is one of the leaders. he is not a team player. he is a most money player. was he drafted by the Phillies? no, he was bought by the Phillies as he left where he was drafted from. I mean pretty much anybody will do that. the way things are now. he would not shake the commissioner's hand. he spent a hot dog since minor leagues when he hit a home run and he looked at the pitcher and laughed as he tried it to first base. he makes $30 million a season and if and of course it's late in his career. this won't happen but if somebody offered him $40 million he would take it and to heck with the Phillies. I obviously don't like this guy because he's not a credible person on and off the field like people are. that is the reason I'm a twins fan. we have harm and killerbrew we have rod carew we have Tony Oliva Justin morneau latroy Hawkins Joe mauer and the list goes on and on but Bryce Harper is not one of those type people. Harmon's son Cameron said at age 14 everybody knows the ball was not a strike but the umpire and he was fussy. Harmon took his sign and went home. Harper does not act like the names I just mentioned. he wants to win a world series. that's why he moved to first base. and I hope he never does. he would not shake the commissioner's hand because he sees salary cap coming which would be huge money just like with basketball and football. how much money does one man need to take care of his family. how much money do people need to buy a season ticket? it can easily be $100,000 if you're sitting near the field. Mr. Harper doesn't care how much you have to spend
  5. I think he did a great job considering the situations he was put in. I'm sure he learned a lot from Mr. Johnson that he replaced. sometimes people get fired just because team had a bad year. when seeing him on the television at the games he looked calm. confident. I don't think he should have been let go.
  6. what the front office does like you say is they look at the potential and it's three four five years later and you've only seen a little bit of that potential yet they keep the guy. they think it's finally going to happen. if Royce Lewis goes to another team and hit 60, home runs fine. it's time to go in a different direction please.
  7. Yes, I hope so. let Hawkins be the pitching coach. I remember seeing him pitch when he was still a starter in Baltimore and you see the speed 98 and 99. Tom Kelly helped him be successful better by being a reliever and he is very thankful to Mr. Kelly. she's such a respectful, knowledgeable, young man.
  8. absolutely correct and thank you for that additional information. spin rates are incredible. some of these guys do
  9. Not sure but it seems as if the Twins want as much speed as the guy can do but as you say velo is an arm killer. I recall the Orioles with McNally, Quellar (bad spelling), Palmer and one more with a 4 man rotation each getting 20 wins and no arm issues. They didn't throw as hard back then. Im going to guess 1966.
  10. Its all fine. hoping for much better Twins team next season.
  11. as for Lopez, I'm not sure the exact date but it seemed like it was the Middle of April that he had the operation? if it is somewhere around there, you may not be ready at the start of the season. I know there's some differences in how the operation is done to try and make it not take quite as long.
  12. what starter did I say move to the bullpen? Yes, I'm where people that throw the ball is hard then as they do now. and I did not know anything about the different way of measuring the speed.
  13. maybe I'm a little different on his velocity. you know Frankie valola the 1987 world series started game 1. I think his fastest pitch was 88 mph. Ober has been doing somewhere around one every five strikeouts over six innings. he knows how to place the ball but unfortunately he hasn't been able to place it in the right place this season. all that much if he had we wouldn't be concerned about his velocity.
  14. The twins evidently have just caratini that they think is Major league ready next season if Jeffries leaves. that is very likely to happen. was his defense terrible when he did catch? was he not hitting when he went to bat while Jeffries was injured? he definitely hit the ball over 300 average. I thought he caught fairly well. frankly, I don't know why he didn't get more playing time because he showed himself to be a good player. not a superstar but a good player and a great attitude. I'm going to go out on the limb and make a really stupid statement. that's what everybody thinks because I think next season until the first round pick is ready. this guy can take up the slack. I think that's why they keep bringing him back.
  15. making changes towards the eight players in the field. suddenly there's some good AAA coming up. it's not just one or two people. so what do you do with everybody else? they are still pretty young players say the last 2 years the same guys mostly.. caratini makes a nice team effort but improvement is needed like throwing people out and hitting the baseball. first base in my opinion needs to be traded. I love Mr. Lewis's enthusiasm but you have to hit the ball. I'm surprised that is defense at first, not perfect by any means, but he's made some real good plays over there. the second base you know Mr. Clemons is hitting in the 230s but he has decent amount of home runs and RBIs and he can play most anywhere adequately. shortstop Culpeper definitely makes some errors, but he looks good at the plate. doesn't he Houston? I think he gets a lot of stolen. bases hits the baseball really well and plays extraordinary defense. so maybe around August. if we get lucky he could come up then Culpeper would move to second. what do you do? sit Clements on the bench. third Base I look for more next year out of Lee because he's improving everywhere the game requires. then there's the outfield Rodriguez. made an extraordinary catch last night and he really got excited but you can't get excited about his play at the plate. so far he is below average strikes out too much. we do not want another Sano. but Rodriguez must stay on the team. so there needs to be a lot of improvement before spring training starts for his hitting. If Bell does not return then at such a young age but Keaschell I can't get to be top top quality outfielder. that's the DH and try not to be so aggressive on the basis. He's made outs doing that. he is phenomenal to watch out there though. sometimes I have read complaints about Bell Daddy's just not that good or whatever. well, he leads the team in RBIs everybody. I think he's at 93 right now. if I could have a team of 90 RBI people I would certainly sign everyone up to play. who can do that. That's a super successful season. of course we have Mr. Roden. fun guy to watch at the plate. maybe he would be next in line for outfield. certainly should make the team. not the best player but I really like Mr. Martin. he was hitting 333 when the decision was made to have him play against right and left-handers. when you have like 50 extra left-handed hitters so to speak that are all good. you should be able to get some good pitching in a trade. that way they're not all down there wasting away in AAA. seriously on Mr. Lewis I don't think the twins are going to get a lot for him in a trade. oh yes, I must mention Mr. Jenkins attempt in central field. honestly, I did not think he was going to get to that ball but he over got to the ball because it hit him in the heel of the glove. that's a hard play to make when you're moving that fast and you're in the air, but it would have been incredible if he could have caught that. some players are going to have to move on in order for these younger players to take their place that we need to do. we have Mr Mendez waiting. we have Mr. Gonzalez been sent back down twice waiting. you know I really like Mr. sabato but he may not be able to hit well enough. defense is not fantastic I understand, but wouldn't it be great if he could play a little defense and hit 30 home runs. then you got a good first base situation.
  16. The local Richmond news probably 30 years ago talked about going to Baltimore and a family of four. would have to spend $200 to see a baseball game that that was excruciatingly high price. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a game. it's not a doctor giving you a transplanted heart. how much money should the doctors have made when rod Carew got a new heart and a new kidney all in one operation? what is that worth? He's not going to get probably $350,000 for that day's work is he? let's take how people dress up at the football games. yes, I'm a Vikings fan also since 1968. players see all this nonsense grown men or out on the field wearing like Oakland raiders fans grown men looking stupid. why? because the players are laughing at them all the way to the bank, it's not high school. it's professional. they play for who gives them the most money. they don't care about Oakland when they play there. we need to wise up and boycott all Major league sports to make it feasible. nearby is the lowest level of Madeline ice hockey tickets. average $100 a game. it's pretty close to that with AA baseball used to sit behind home plate in Richmond when the Minnesota twins AAA team came to town $11 behind home plate. that's $100 now. it's minorly sports. what is it? you don't understand. it's breaking my heart. you're willing to give up all this money.
  17. okay let me try to do this. seemingly a lot of people don't care what the prices are when I talk prices on here. prices are crazy and 75% of the stadiums. if you sit way up high you do okay. living in Virginia. my closest team was Baltimore so for about 8 years I got a seat like the third row right at the beginning of the upper deck behind home plate. you really aren't that far away up there. if you're in the third row, the price was $20 for 8 years in a row. The cheapest place to see a ball game as far as I know during all those years is the Baltimore Orioles because the owner said he did not want to buy players that cost so much and didn't make it too costly for the clientele to come to a game. so what do you want him to buy the $50 million a year player? or just put a good product on the field so you can afford to go to it whoever you are? The very first free agent I think was Jim catfish Hunter in Oakland. the person who started all this heavy money was George steinbrenner and he paid Jim $350,000 for one season not even ever heard of before. I think a lot of guys would play for that right now
  18. it was supposed to say Culpeper is a above average shortstop I don't ever proofread and you have two other messages. when I read one message the others are gone.
  19. I think Jackson got DFA'd again but I really like the guy. I think. Houston when he comes up will move Culpeper to second base because Culpeper isn't above average shortstop and Houston is from what we know. A+. He's also hitting pretty good.
  20. we have a problem. I'm talking about all of baseball. Bryce Harper would not shake hands with a commissioner because the commissioner is talking salary cap yet. Harper makes $30 million a year for 10 years. how many tickets do you have to sell to give this guy his $30 million? and what's this? jerk complaining about salary started to escalate in the 1980s. you know the first $6 million player was Kirby Puckett not a New York player or a Los Angeles player. it was Kirby Puckett. if the cost to pay a player averaged $1 million a year, the players would still jump on that because they're not likely to make that much not even close in a year anywhere else. Derek Jeter a really good guy was on David Letterman and he was asked about baseball and his reply had to do with money where he said crazy money and he was making 15K. why do people think it's okay to get screwed at the ballpark basketball football? there are a lot of $2,000 seats in the national basketball association. wouldn't you like to sit close to the field just once? take a family of four pay $1,200 plus concession in parking. you want to do that? because if people don't they wouldn't be baseball salaries like this anyway.
  21. Yes, even the New York Yankees have a cheap seat way up in the upper deck. but keep in mind and this was some years ago that it cost $1600 behind the Yankees dugout to watch one regular season game. that's what I was referring to things like that and I think the Minnesota twins back seat behind home plate. I'm not sure. I think it's roughly $300 maybe. so when I look at the fans with the view around the stadium less people sit behind home plate than anywhere else
  22. I'm thinking how to say this. all the major sports are about spending money to put a winning team on the field of play. with baseball it used to be how well you can evaluate your draft picks and how well you can determine what you think. a player is going to be like next year by trading for him. no sport is harder to do with that than baseball. but now it's become more about how much personnel to put on the field you can buy instead of using your brain as a general manager to decide who to trade for who to pick in the draft. most of the time money will make a difference, but don't ask the New York Mets that. this all started with the New York Yankees. George steinbrunner was willing to put out whatever he had to to win baseball games. I don't think he even thought about with the farm system was like let's just buy a championship. personally, I don't think winning that way. is any fun at all but today if you depend on your draft picks and your trades with $100 million team salary to get over the hump, it's not going to happen. so you have to go out there and put out these millions and millions of dollars. we need a salary cap like the NFL has in every baseball. player wants to run to the hills and not play next year. if there's a salary cap well it's not going to put you in the $95,000 a year range for income. the salary cap is still going to pay you crazy money just like the NFL does but it might put a few more people in the stands cuz maybe the $300 single game seat could be $150. players don't think about your greed so much as the people that come to see you. you're still going to make tons of money. yes, I want to see the Minnesota twins win a championship since I've been filing them since 1965. it's been a long time. but my two vehicles used to have twins on their license plate here in Virginia. I have removed that I don't have any interest in wearing twins clothing to a ball game anymore because of the greed. seeing grown men dress up like they do at a football game. I think the players are laughing at them all the way to the bank. this isn't high school. please fans understand that that wear that stuff. okay, when I try to read replies they pop up there. if I read one reply any other replies or not located can't locate them. but thank you for your replies irregardless of whether you agree with me or not, but it was really nice paying $4.50 for a box seat at RFK stadium when I was 17. I don't know for sure but I think that amount of money today would probably be maybe $100? The rate of inflation does not apply to Major League sports and we need to boycott unfortunately but we're not going to do that
