  1. I agree we probably hang onto Morneau until the dealine and hope he stays healthy and then get a bigger return. Unless they get a great offer this winter this is what probably will happen.
  2. Ok....for the 10 millionth time...the Twins are NOT trading Joe Mauer!!!! and porobably couldn't if they wanted to. Why do people continue to concern themselves with things that have little or in this case likely NO chance of happening. BTW what Sanchez are you talking about...not the one who failed with K.C I hope??
  3. agree!!!
  4. Well for one they did'nt lose Carson so they can still re-sign hin to a AAA contract and add him at a later time or recall him next season if they need a 4th OF. Plus Willingham is VERY unlikely to be traded so....
  5. Can you screw up 1B coach????? no waving guys around there. Really it's no big deal!
  6. LOL!!!!! if the Yanks paid ALL of his salary and our worst prospect in return I'd take him...
  7. Gardy has only one more yr left so it's make or break for him next yr....again not that big a deal. The Twins don't have the talent up and down the roster especially the starting rotation.
  8. Jim Souhan ‏@SouhanStrib I've heard Brunansky new hit coach,Gene Glynn 3b coach, Bobby Cuellar new BP coach. Paul Molitor should be on staff, but not sure will be Retweeted
  9. Not really a big deal is it??? He's a bullpen coach and the pitching coach still works with ALL pitchers so not exactly the sole reason the bullpen was improved...after all it sucked last yr and the same guy was there. I have no problem with these moves and I'm sure more will come. I would like to see Bruno as the hitting coach also and Glynn and Cuellar work as well if that's what they do. What isn't happening is Gardy getting fired so get over it.
  10. Rick Stelmaszek first to go... http://www.startribune.com/sports/twins/blogs/172663381.html
  11. I think the Rays will pick up the option on Shields..
  12. YES! and I think they pretty much decided they want to to try, and I think Baker will accept a VEY reduced salary. He and his family like it here and are comfartable and that goes a long way in these players decision. Now if he's blown away by a multi million dollar offer(which is less then likely) then i think he returns and I would welcome him back.
  13. He'll get a fair shot at 3B and unless the Twins can upgrade significantly this offseason he'll more then likely be the front runner. The more reasonable approach will be to get a defensive 3B type who can back him up but I'd think the Twins want his power potential in the lineup and if he can hit .250 ish and 30 HR's which is possible over a full season then I would take that and so would the Twins. I just really think the thumb injury really derailed his season.
  14. Hendriks will get a shot if for nothing other then they really don't have many other options...that of course depending on what they do this winter. That said he's proven he can pitch in AAA so that leaves the Twins, now whether he improves enough this offseason is the big question but he's definitely in the mix as well as DeVries and Walters..If i had to guess i'd say 1 of those 3 will be in the rotaion come April 1st.. That leaves Diamond and 3 ??? for the rotation with Gibson and I believe Baker as mid season cadidates.
  15. But that's not the argument, is it? You claimed "no impact prospects ready to contribute". By that reasoning, it's impossible for any prospect "to be ready to contribute" until they've actually done so. Gibson should be ready to contribute by the All-Star break if his rehab goes as expected. Parmelee is already contributing. Arcia and Hicks have a good shot at contributing. No one is claiming certainty about anything, we're simply refuting your statement that "no impact prospects are ready to contribute in the majors next season". There are several who should contribute at some point in the season. I'd be suprised if he's not pitching with the big club by early June at the latest.
  16. So barring any trades for an upgrade to our "middling" infield it could be Pedro at SS and Dozier at 2B where he'll most certainly be better defensively...assuming of course he gets time there in winter ball and in ST. Would that decision affect the Twins decision to try and trade Morneau..which btw I don't think is happening, but my point being with two relatively light hitting IF at SS and 2B and Plouffes inconsistecy can they afford to trade Justin??? You don't know what Parm is gonna do over a full season and they can't really afford sub par production at all 4 infield spots. So IMO you keep Justin, trade Span put Parm in RF and Revere in CF which is the likely scenario.
  17. Don't think you now give up on Plouffe just yet...his thumb injury really set him back and you have been this patient so far why not give him every chance to come in next yr and keep the 3B job?? and learning a new position at the ML level is not that simple, if Morneau is still here next season Parm will be the RF...if not he'll be the 1B but either Span/Justin or both will most certainly be gone cuz Parm will be in the lineup.
  18. I just think you wait and see... . See how he gets thru AFL and what he looks like in ST. Maybe keep him in extended ST til the weather warms up but I don't think any specific pitch limit should be thrown out there just yet, way too early right now. I don't see him throwing 200 innigs obviously but once a week as someone suggested makes NO sense for anybody.
  19. I don't think Hicks or Arcia not being called up has anything to do with Span...I still think it's very likely he gets traded this offseason.
  20. I agree Justin would probably bring more at the deadline next yr but you are banking on him being healthy then but they only have him for 2 months and may not give up the prospects..on the other hand it's half the salary. If they get even a decent offer this winter they could trade him.
  21. Except the Twins keep throwing money away year after year. Decision making on personnel has been spotty- at best. Yeah but that's the Pavano's, Capps, Blackie's etc...not Mauer. It's not the good players they have trouble with, it's the bad ones they think are good.
  22. Yeah, and we would have to get that top P prospect back plus a bunch more and since pitching is also Boston's biggest need I don't see it.
