Awful ABs by Castro and Lee there, almost unforgiveable lack of execution. Lee swinging at a pitch at his eyes there, is incomprehensible.

Bader taking advantage of that infield in! Would have been an easy catch by the SS if not for them being pulled in.

I'm in shock, they just keep finding ways to win. It just goes to show you what can happen when your bench (Keirsey, Clemens, Vazquez) can put together competitive ABs. Takes pressure off the big guys. Hat's off to Larnach and Jeffers, a couple of guys who were really struggling 1-2 years ago who are now essential to the heart of the order. Brooks Lee has shown new life. Was nice to see Royce Lewis get that double. He is getting closer, but still seems to be just missing some balls. He's not quite full speed yet and maybe that's OK.

Chase Petty came to the Reds from the Twins in the Sonny Gray trade in 2022. He made his MLB debut with the Reds this year on April 30 and gave up 9 ER in 2.1 innings vs. STL. His next start he lasted 3 innings and gave up 4 ER. Petty lost both games. In order to try and boost his confidence, the Reds will have Petty work out of relief on Saturday, May 17th following an opener.

My thoughts mirror these - the guy looks serviceable but he really labors to get through 5 innings. It seems like a typical box score from him will be something like: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3K. He seems to escape getting throttled (except yesterday) but never really tosses any gems. He's certainly good enough to pitch in the majors and the fact that the Twins SP depth is deep enough for them to casually send SWR down to AAA says good things. He'll be back later in the year, injuries and needed rest for others will make him a nice piece as the dog days of August start to give wear and tear. Having a reserve arm like this is nice insurance.

There was recently a parody article suggesting Miguel Sano was re-signed by the Twins. It was a "joke" post making fun of the former Twin. Miguel Angel Sano ranks 12th all time in home runs for the Twins, right behind Tom Brunansky and right ahead of Max Kepler. He finished 3rd in Rookie of the Year voting in 2015 and was an All-Star in 2017. Sano never made a ton of money, or signed a contract that affected the Twins' plans or the roster alignment. He made some errors at 3rd base but also made some dazzling plays which go undiscussed. The guy hit some huge clutch home runs, including this legendary grand slam on the road, late in September in Cleveland to ice the division in 2019. He was never called a bad teammate or a problem in the clubhouse. By all accounts he was trying his best, even during his struggles. To see Miguel Sano being made fun of in this manner? It kinda misses the mark for me. I know some people enjoy making fun of ballplayers for various reasons, but I never understood the hate for Sano. The guy was a real star for this franchise for a couple years.
