    Not sure I would characterize these moves as "go big or go home." That said, I am happy to see them back up their big talk and address some of our very real bullpen issues. The sick puppy in me is also chuckling as Yankees fans complain about their deadline moves. Yankees schadenfreude is real.

    Yes! Here I thought they were going to leave empty handed after getting Minter and Kremer. Now Pohlad is really walking the talk.

    Yes. Tough loss, and tough break for Lewis when he is still learning a new-ish position. Go for the series dub tomorrow. At least we're buying.

    Ditto. Side note: If he somehow, some way, accepts the QO, that's a great outcome for the Twins as well, in my view. You get a solidly above-average catcher on a one year deal for slightly above projected value, without assuming future risk (or blocking future catching prospects).

    I'll say it again: you don't say you're buying (and therefore contending) only to go out and trade your 2nd best hitter. I'm team "Keep Jeffers" all the way.

    Maybe I'm a bit too chill about Buxton being injured, but I'm not sure our deadline approach changes all that much with him on the IL. The FO has been clear that pitching is our top priority, and shown as much in their actions so far. And the offense has still been good enough throughout the season to make up enough for his absence (granted, you can never truly replace Buxton and his impact). Don't get me wrong -- missing Buxton in the lineup hurts, a lot. I just don't see his absence changing our deadline approach, at least to the extent that we part with top-10 or top-15 prospects to get a bat. Pitching is the priority, as it should be, imo. Someone call me out if I'm crazy or missing something!

    Quite agree. I would use the standard 5 man and mix in Prielipp and Rojas carefully (i.e. skipping a start or using Rojas as a piggyback) to optimize their usage while managing their workload. Might result in Bradley or Ryan losing a start, but better than a straight 6-man rotation imo. Prielipp is so good when he's right (i.e. rested) that you should be using him when feasible.

    Feels like a SP depth move, which we needed. I don't mind the move, especially for a prospect who might be lottery ticket at this point. Plus we get another year of control for Kremer. That said, we'd better not be done making moves, imo. Minimum one more reliever (on par with Minter or better), maybe even a big time starter.

    If the Varland trade is ever going to pay off, we're going to have to wait for a long, long time for that to happen. Rojas has looked better lately, but man, it's hard not to feel salty when we could have had Varland this whole time.

    Frustrating, but it's one game. I'm taking a chill pill and hoping we take the series today.

    100%. QO hopefully gets you either 1 more solid year from Jeffers (without having to pay for more years) or potentially a top 100 prospect.

    Imho, you don't hold a presser to say you're buying (in order to *presumably" compete) and then trade away your best (though not lately?) SP and/or your 2nd best hitter. Not putting it past the Twins to trade away either of them, but I think it would be foolish to do so. I bet they end up keeping both.

    I agree that the decision is puzzling, and even maddening. It does seem like the Twins prefer to wait on promoting prospects until they show extended periods of success (barring injuries on the major league squad), maybe to their detriment. Would def rather give Jenkins a shot over Gray, but maybe the Twins know something we don't.
