  1. I agree, but I still have stock in Ryan if they can get his conditioning sorted out. Especially if we're looking for a mid-season trade. The caveat is, I'd like him to stay as a Twin, in top shape.
  2. All due respect, that year, I wish we would have retained Sonny.
  3. Damn straight! What if they "shake out" good? How many of our Twins have been with us for five years? None, except for dead weight. That's a dream. Specially in a small market team. Unless we sign stupid contracts. Keep contracts short and sweet, and we'll land our feet.
  4. I trust him more now than last year. He's learned how to accept what he has and does the best he can with it. We should all learn the same lesson, and accept it. BTW, he has been pretty filthy at times!
  5. They made it to the majors, give them a break! I know it's the end of the year, and we're all disappointed, but at least this group is giving us something to look forward to. That's something!
  6. Thanks RC, I always respect your posts. Check this out while he was with the Twins: Butch Wynegar Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More | Baseball-Reference.com
  7. But has anyone gotten better beyond a "teach to the test" improvement like France? I said this before in a previous post; Clemens was five defensive runs saved at first base at the end of May leading all major leaguers. We only moved him out to give the streaking Lewis a place. How'd that work out? We could have had a threepeater gold glove at first base. Our coaches are doing great!
  8. Trial by fire; Lackey. It worked for Wynegar. Why not? Give him plenty of opportunities in Spring Training and see how things shake out.
  9. When the Twins went 1 & 2 for catchers in the draft, and we already had Tait and Diaw, I was impressed. Besides athletic SS's, there is probably the greatest shortage of hitting/defensive Catchers. Talk about an inventory for future trades and internal competition to get to the Twins! Please, make sure they are brought along properly so we don't waste their given talent. "God did not give us dreams, without also giving us, the ability to make them come true." In other words, don't hinder them, help them. Just saying.
  10. Careful what you wish for, one of our TD contributors was asking/hoping Larnach would be placed on the IL, before he was injured just to make room. Get well soon Trevor, and best wishes for your future. As for the contributor, keep your eyes in the back of your head.
  11. BTW, Wallner's arm is way stronger than Keaschall's, how did that work out?
  12. Target field's right field is smaller than left. Sure, move him to left in larger ballparks. How often does a right fielder throw all the way from right to third base? He has been on target for hitting the cut-offs. He knows the limestone. Plus, he's righthanded.
  13. BTW, the loss to the Yankees last night must have been too depressing to write about.
  14. If there is to be a blame game, I would put it on the trainers. Too many strains and pains. An off-season training program needs to be monitored. More emphasis needs to be on endurance conditioning, Blyleven used to run and nothing else (Ryan can't even make it past the All Star break). Less weights, more flexibility; too many lat, hammy, shoulder, and lower back strains. All can be prevented. We need to be much more proactive. It frustrates me that when there is an injury, they never address the root cause, which always leads to a setback, or a repeat.
  15. Keep Keaschall in right field. He's an athlete, plus his defense has been trending upward in right field. The dirt would be a disaster again, and I don't think with his energy level he could sit on his hands waiting to DH.
  16. When we are playing again, with both of them in the rotation, we will cash in. Hopefully cash in even more when their value goes up!
  17. Spring training with an infield of Lee 3B, Houston SS, Culpepper 2B, Clemens at 1B. Just to see how it plays. Houston has hit adequate to great wherever he played. BTW, back in late May Clemens was leading all of baseball in runs saved at 1B. Maybe he could have been the Twin's threepeat of a gold glove.
  18. I kind of would like them to bring back Hank Conger as some kind of a bench coach. He was responsible for our aggressive and successful running game at the end of last season. With the call-up of some of our new speedsters, we could have a very exciting team.
  19. Playing for draft lottery position now. Cross your fingers.
