  1. I suppose Cheers and Fraiser references are a little dated -- although that is usually not a problem with these threads.
  2. Your wife is kind of the Vera or Maris of Twins Daily.
  3. I think it was his invite to the next Twins Daily pub crawl. He wants to make sure he doesn't lose it.
  4. Could you technically call them pants? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_BrpAgJQelyA/Suit2kB8TfI/AAAAAAAABys/hsea87_loe8/s320/Screen+shot+2009-10-28+at+3.24.35+PM.png
  5. Sadly I think my 1000th post was in the 2016 season. It seems like such a waste of an important milestone.
  6. [start of Mauer homerism] I know Mauer is not playing like people would like and he had a horrible April and has deserved a lot of the criticism he has received, but it does seem like he is starting to get a little offensive life the last few weeks. Still not where people would like him to be, but his bat seems a bit more productive and not as much of a black hole. [end of Mauer homerism] I suppose I could look up some stats, but that seems too much like math for a game thread.
  7. The Mauer portion makes me feel a little old... I was probably close to his age now when he made the big game.
  8. I suspect they do tell him - but he tends to think he knows best. I am guessing he ignores a lot of advice. I also think his attention span is pretty much shot and combined with his impulsiveness, he gets caught up in the moment and forgets much of what was told to him earlier. He has so many questionable business dealings and financial arrangements, they might eventually be able to bring him down even without establishing the Russian connection.
  9. Comey found out he was fired by seeing it on the news as he was out giving a talk about the FBI in Los Angeles. Trump called him after that. He is the epitome of class..
  10. I always thought this had a sad ending when I was a kid. Bugs could get a little dark and was probably a sociopath..
  11. Technically rectangular - but this is what I think of with square pizza - except my school cut dish-washing and went to Styrofoam trays and plastic sporks (which were not that useful). The pizza was usually shiny from the extra grease (which I am sure added extra flavor). Sometimes we had taco pizza which was octagonal in shape for some reason. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UtMBepj-m1U/TvEjvN6h2mI/AAAAAAAAB94/R-8dZXf-f4Y/s1600/square_cafeteria_pizza.jpg
  12. You might want to switch to AOL - plus you can instant message. You get a number of free hours every month.
  13. I missed Sunday's game thread. Is it worth going to read the ninth inning comments or did people just lose their will to live and/or type comments?
  14. Don't worry - I think he has assigned Jared to take care of that problem, so it is in good hands. The Republicans really do need to stop pretending their is a competent adult in the White House and put the long term good of the country (world) in front of the agenda they are trying to get through before Trump completely goes insane.
  15. I think he has already been working pretty hard and de-legitimizing the media. Not that they have not done things to make this a little easier for him, but his "fake news" meme and basically endorsing Fox News and their views any chances he can get shows he values being a "winner" over the truth. I heard one of the agencies was told their TV should always be on Fox News.
  16. Nixonesque is the first thing that came to my mind when I heard that.
  17. I think every President should have a webpage where he can put out his alternative facts and collect money and sell merchandise at the same time. I don't think I need to state I think he might be a little ego-driven. I guess you have to given him credit for not displaying false humility. "Donald J. Trump is the very definition of the American success story, setting the standards of excellence in his business endeavors, and now, for the United States of America." https://www.donaldjtrump.com/
  18. I wonder if they come with a complimentary copy of Ivanka's new critically acclaimed book,
  19. He does make things seem better when things are looking grim.
  20. All this wish list is missing is a pony and world peace and it is perfect.
  21. I am pretty sure he gave you a subtle look of disappointment and quietly shook his head (which is his version of giving you the finger and shouting M&&&&&%% F&&&&&&&& from North Dakota!!!)
  22. I missed most of the game - actually turned on the car radio just as he was getting in the batting box. Home run aside, did I hear that his earlier single was another pulled shot to right field? If so, that would be the third time in a couple of weeks. If he can do that from time to time, that will do a lot to lessen the effectiveness of the defensive shifts teams have been using against him. Home run was great, but was also happy to hear about the right field single (if I heard that correctly). When I saw clips of the hit later, that might be the most animated I have seen him after a home run although there did look to be potential for disaster for either him or Sano with the victory carry. This is a pretty easy team to cheer for -- they seem pretty enthused and engaged. I suppose it helps the morale not to start 0-9.
