  1. He probably "battles his tail off", and "gets after it".
  2. And another prospect rots on the bench.
  3. So you are not looking for veteran, you are looking for quality. I think we can all agree on that.
  4. Seth, What part of the plan is calling up legit prospects to rot on the bench? First Kepler, now Polanco.
  5. It was 18 days, calf strain. That's it in 8 years as a professional. You are citing that as a lack of durability? In that case, can you list the starting pitchers we have who ARE durable?
  6. He has Gibson in the rotation.
  7. Thibodaux and Boudreau, and that's just in the last 6 weeks.
  8. How do they justify charging admission now?
  9. A quick Google search shows that 18 days around the Futures Game in 2014 seems to be the ONLY time he's missed due to injury during his 9 year professional career. That sounds pretty darn durable to me. Someone please point out any that I might have missed.
  10. The numbers actually disprove your second sentence, factually. He has, by far, his best stats from pitch 76-100 than any other pitch count range. If he has trouble going deep in games it's because his pitch count gets too high, not because he wears down physically.
  11. Can you list the time he's missed with injury please? I only ask because he was touted for his durability when we traded for him, and I don't recall any significant injuries since then. Plus, I can't find any missing chunks in his yearly stats.
  12. Yes, of course many of those guys will eventually contribute. But, a few things. You list 4 guys for 2 corner of spots. Mauer isn't going anywhere, and my suggestion to consider trading Park has not been met with enthusiasm. You also have to factor that some of those guys will be busts, and some will be injured. Also on that list is only 1 starting pitcher. I think we've seen that May will never start for this club again. If he can't get another shot on a 8-25 team with 3 starters out of the rotation, then he never will. This team has a ceiling of .500 as long as Hughes, Santana, and Nolasco are in the rotation. We've also seen Meyer will never get a legit shot at the mlb rotation. That means we are stuck with a mediocre at best rotation for several years yet. It's also a roster constructed with absolutely no regard for defense, and I don't see that changing much until we get a new philosophy in here.
  13. I think you must have May mistaken for someone else. I don't think he's ever had any injury issues, not even in the minors.
  14. Isn't there a college catcher who could be a top 5 pick in 2017? If we really want to draft for need, let's get him.
  15. POTY Nominee. Well said.
  16. This isn't the NBA. One or two players don't get you from dead last in the league to contenders.
  17. This team will finish with about 55 wins. Buxton, Berrios and a couple tweaks aren't going to add 35 wins.
  18. Our run differential is right in line with our record, and is second worse in baseball. This isn't bad luck. I'm sorry, the talent we thought was there simply doesn't exist.
  19. Ok, fair enough. I retract my statement that he's Nick Blackburn. I'm not comfortable with pitchers who don't miss bats, on a team that doesn't value defense.
  20. We are the worst team in baseball. Worse than Atlanta, who traded away all their players and isn't even trying to win. How can you think those few moves turn this into a world series contender? This team is light years away from anything even resembling a contender. This is what you get when you go half in and half out every year. It gets you nowhere.
  21. Is there a FIP+ or something similar to compare across different era's. You simply can't compare Radke to Gibson with FIP alone. The game has changed too much.
  22. What issues do Kepler need to work on? I'm not saying he doesn't have any. I'm certain he will. But he's never been given a chance to play in the MLB. Sitting on the bench 5 of every 6 games doesn't count.
  23. When is the magic date that teams can stop pretending they can still make the playoffs? Do they have to wait until they are mathematically eliminated? Because even the worst team in baseball is usually still mathematically in it into September. So many unwritten rules in baseball. It's hard to keep track of them.
  24. Sano leads mlb in line drive percentage. The only thing Sano needs to work on in AAA is his luck.
  25. Is that the one where he thought FIP was first innings pitched?
