Great summary. I have the same feelings; you would think that the Twins would be aggressively pushing towards deals now with other pitchers to have a good shot at them now that teams that were interested in Greinke and Dempster have run out of luck.

Yeah, of the position players the Angels want to move, an infielder isn't one of them. They have a serious outfield surplus with the addition of OF Josh Hamilton, and I can see them trading at least one or two players.

According to MLBTR, he is open to resigning with the Brewers. However, he has been linked to teams including the Twins, Royals, Cubs, and Padres within the last few weeks. With their recent trade for Shields and Davis, I don't see the Royals as a contender for Marcum anymore. I see the Twins, Brewers, and Cubs as his most possible destinations, because all of them need a pitcher of his caliber, and I don't see him bolting the Midwest to play for the Padres unless they make him an offer that he can't refuse.

Who would the Twins trade him for? Derek Holland? Not exactly the star starter they are looking for, but I guess better than Correia.

Puck, he is indeed 35, and he was indeed recommended to the Twins by Gaetti. The thing I am wondering is if he is a relief pitcher or a starter?

The thing is, and this is something that I heard in a discussion on the radio recently that I completely agree with. How many big, free agent deals are realized with the player playing at the same level as previous years over the contract? Not many. Kinda the reason why the Red Sox made that trade with the Dodgers, because they had made some huge signings and none of them were working out. To be honest, the signing of Josh Willingham by the Twins has been probably one of the most underrated and yet one of the biggest FA signings over the last few years with how it went during the first year.

Just saw on MLBTR that the Twins are closing in on a two-year deal with Correia. Hope it works better than the Marquis deal.

Pretty close. Gotta have a few bad performances in a row over the next three weeks from Dallas, Washington, and Chicago to get in, as all three are in front of us in the standings. Extremely possible with Chicago with the kind of turd they are laying the second half of the season. With the injury to RG3, the Redskins are seemingly vulnerable at least next week. I don't know who Dallas is facing over the next three weeks, but let's hope these three teams lose out and the Vikes can win at least two out of three.

6. Twins 5. Jays- They dealt Marisnick and Nic to the Marlins, but still have Sanchez and Syndergaard. Also have D'Arnaud and a lot of HS talent that will b developing this year 4. Rays- 6 of their top 10 are Pitchers. Guerrieri has potential to be an ace . The rest of their system is built up with pitchers/young hitters. 3. Diamondbacks- They have 3 ACES in Skaggs/Bauer/Bradley with Skaggs being the best, but the rest of their system is weak. 2. Rangers- The System speaks for itself. Profar,Olt, Perez, and a seemingly endless supply of top Latin American talent. I was considering putting them at 1, but their younger talent is about ready to play their first Full league season this year, after this year when Walker and Zunino make their Debut's, the Rangers will be #1. Texas lacks a real ace in their system as well, although Perez will be a good 2. 1. Mariners- Walker is an Ace, Paxton and Hultzen will top out at #2's (which is very hard to find these days), Zunino is a a star behind the plate and his bat backs that up. Maurer is regarded very highly in their system after his breakout year. Seems like most of the systems that you rated in front of the Twins have more weaknesses than the Twins' system. Your assessment of the Blue Jays assumes that their high school talent will transfer well to the bigs. The Rays I agree with. I would put both the Twins and the Rays in front of the Diamondbacks if they only have three highly regarded prospects in their system. The Rangers do have a strong farm system, but the Mariners at #1? Wow. With the teams you have ranked in front of the Twins, I would actually put the Twins in the Top 3 on this list behind the Rays and Rangers.

There was a discussion on either 1500 AM or 100.3 FM today, and the guys on there thought that we had jumped into the Top 5 with the new additions. I definately have to agree, and when Sano jumps up a few levels over the next few years, we will probably have a system in the Top 3.

I agree with you, BUT if teams take too long, their prices might drop to 10% higher than this (and by their I mean Sanchez.) I am now thinking that you would have a real shot to get the first two at those prices/years.

Revere was a class act and a guy I would want to play baseball with any day. Really sad that the Twins traded one of the best smiles in baseball, but for the return they got, hey, can't complain too much. I find it very interesting that several broadcasters thought he stole a HR, where the replay clearly shows he was about a foot from the top of the wall when he made the catch.

Even the Yanks this year have some serious holes in their lineup, especially with the A-Rod injury. I also agree, I have a feeling that Ryan has a move or two still up his sleeve.

How in all that is holy is this a bad lineup? I think any team would take the 2-5 hitters in their lineup just about any day of the week when they are healthy, which they managed to do last year. Parmalee is also coming along with his hitting ability, and if Plouffe could hit like he did in June and july last year, this would be one dangerous middle of the lineup with on-base guys (mius Dozier cause I think he has shown as much talent as Valencia in hitting) in front of them. While their rotation still needs improvement, I am feeling good so far about their moves so far this offseason (minus having to trade Revere cause he's awesome in my book).

When have the Twins done anything to blow FA's away in the way that you are suggesting? Not that I don't think they can't, but it just hasn't happened before. While they do have payroll space, it probably won't mean that we will be spending that much money to splurge on McCarthy or Dempster, especially since Dempster is 35, and only getting older. Not exactly the way the Twins want to go if they are trying to build for the future.
