  1. I really hope Wimmers can come back and re-establish himself as a high-end prospect. We could use all the help we can get when it comes to pitching.
  2. Wish that article by Parks that was alluded to in your article was open season; looked like a very interesting read to me.
  3. That is true. That would be a deadly combo in the back of the bullpen (makes me wish that we had that combo; just imagine how good our bullpen would be then!)
  4. They don't have a large number of available trade chips. Their three most talked about trade baits are Josh Willingham, Glen Perkins, and Justin Morneau, with a few other rumors mixed in here and there. Willingham is currently on the DL, and won't be available again until mid-August at the earliest. Perkins, according to the Twins, is staying with the team. Morneau seems most likely to move along, but who could the Twins get to take his salary and decreased power potential? Let's face it, this is a fairly terrible year for the Twins in needing to be sellers instead of buyers, because they certainly have a prospect or two they could dangle for a sizeable return (not that I know who would that would be) if they were in the position to buy this July.
  5. Anorthagen-They already have Joe Nathan to close. Why would they need Perkins?
  6. On a talk show yesterday (I think it was 100.3), there was actually a lot of discussion about this exact topic. They said a good comp of the type of player the Twins could get from trading Perkins would be Nick Castellanos (sp?) (Top 5 prospect in Detroit's system) plus another fairly good pitcher in the system.
  7. He was threatening to play serious hardball last year with whatever team drafted him, and the Astros didn't feel like doing it.
  8. Good to see Rosario contributing again. It's been a while since I have seen his name pop up on these reports.
  9. So we just have a bunch of AAAA starters sitting down in AAA right now? What to do with a pitching surplus......
  10. Did the Twins give a reason for the release of Perez?
  11. Yeah, not sure if avoiding Lester is such a good thing with the way Buchholz has started the season (looking at non-sabermetrical numbers, anyway).
  12. Wow, hard to believe that as well as they have done that the Kernels and Miracle are only 4 and 5.5 games apart from the second-place teams in their divisions. Must be quite the start these teams are having.
  13. I now know that I have spent too many time on Vikings' discussion boards when CP is more closely associated with Cordarrelle Patterson and Christian Ponder than Chris Parmelee in my mind.
  14. And I thought the NFL replacement refs were bad. Seriously, what is up with the quality of the MLB umpires over the last month? Two badly missed calls within the last three days, and even before that umpires were getting bad. That ump in Tampa forced an argument and then ejected several players. CC screamed the f-bomb at a younger umpire because the ump yelled something first. Then, there was Hirschbeck who tossed Bryce Harper all the way from the 3rd base bag and was really seeming to want to toss him, as he was definitely what I would call aggravating towards Harper.
  15. What's up with the score from the Ft. Myers game? If the final was 4-2 Miracle, why does it read 8-2 Yankees?
  16. I know I was gone from this site for a while. So could someone give me some info on what we are dealing with for our new Director of Minor League Operations? I haven't heard anything about him.
  17. Pelf seems to have gotten a little better at wriggling out of trouble.
  18. Dozier had one of those low pitches called a ball.
  19. I think Gardy and Ryan are trying to bring back the Piranhas with Escobar, Florimon and Dozier. I certainly like the approach.
  20. Seriously, Joe Mauer has been hot-and-cold a lot this year. Currently on a ridiculous slump (for him, anyway) after batting like .400 for a week
  21. The one thing Pelfrey has going for him right now is the speed variation between his fastball and curveball- it's a full 20 mph difference between the two.
  22. My question is, is how Pelfrey hasn't given up more runs to these guys with the lineup they have.
  23. As a baseball player myself, attacking the ball means that you charge the ball and take it on the hop that you want, not the hop that the ball chooses for you.
  24. @Alex: Less than we are, that's for sure.
