  1. Man, as much as I love the Twins, I don't know crap about this year's draft. Been spending WAY too much time reading up on what the Vikings might do about their draft that I don't know anything about who the Twins might take.
  2. I have good feelings about this series in KC. Even with their own retooled rotation, the Twins have been making rubes of the Royals over much of the last decade, heck even last year they still managed to win the season series against them.
  3. Okay, call me crazy, but does anyone else see the similarities to the Vikings in the Twins current situation (as early as it is)? They had a high draft pick last year, they have been pretty bad over the last two, they have had a good amount of production from a position of weakness the last few years (pitching from the Twins, secondary and QB for the Vikings), their players are having comeback years (Pelfrey, Harden, and Perez, even though the second two haven't pitched much yet), and their development of young players is coming along fairly well (not much of a minor league to speak of in the NFL, but the rookies did well this year and several Twins prospects are starting off their minor league seasons on a tear).
  4. It's too late, anyway. Harang was traded to the Rockies a day or two ago.
  5. There is no such thing as another Nick Punto. Punto is pretty much the Twins' idea of the best weak-hitting, great fielding utility infielders that I have ever seen. Nobody can stand up to his legacy and survive (except for Cuddy, and he did both fielding and hitting well, so he doesn't count.)
  6. It's great having one of those shut-down closers again. It has been a few years; really, since the last time Nathan was healthy. How long ago was that? And yeah, he's definitely several steps above anything Capps was bringing to the table as a reliever.
  7. I didn't really have a problem with the Twins sending Robertson down. I didn't exactly jump for joy every time he came out last year, and only the fact that better bullpen arms were injured kept him from being put in AAA to start the year. Anybody know the timetables on Harden and Perez? I have a feeling our bullpen could use a few more quality guys in it.
  8. I have been quite pleasantly surprised about the results so far this year. Could this be the Twins' turn to play the team that turns it around after a few bad years (ala the Vikings of this year)?
  9. Nothing about Colabello in AAA? He's hitting just as well, if not better, than Arcia is right now. If the Twins didn't have Parmelee and they traded Morneau, they could do worse than Colabello.
  10. Been a little while since we have heard from Danny V. Then I found this story while looking around on Bleacher Report. Interesting that he is one of the people connected to the youth clinic in Florida. Report: MLB is ?actively going after? any players linked to the Biogenesis clinic | HardballTalk
  11. I thought I would post a thread with the stats (so far) of all current Twins in the WBC (not counting tonight's stats). Australia (eliminated): James Beresford-.182 BA (2-11), 0 HR, 1 BB, 1 K Canada (Pool play): Justin Morneau-.714 BA (5-7), 2 2B, 3 RBI's, 1 BB, 0 K Andrew Albers- 0-0, 3 IP, 6.00 ERA, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 K's Dominican Republic (Advancing to Rd. 2): Sam Deduno- 1-0, 4 IP, 0.00 ERA, 5 K's Italy (pool play): Drew Butera-.250 BA (2-8), 1 HR, 4 RBI's, 0 BB, 1 K Chris Colabello-.500 BA (5-10), 1 HR, 4 RBI's, 0 BB, 2 K Netherlands (2nd round): Shairon Martis-0-0, 3 1/3 IP, 0.00 ERA, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 K Tom Stuifbergen-0-1, 3 IP, 15.00 ERA, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 1 K Puerto Rico (advancing to Rd. 2): J.O Berrios-No stats available (weird!) Eddie Rosario- .000 BA (0-4), 0 HR, 0 RBI's, 0 BB, 0 K USA (pool play): Joe Mauer-.500 BA (2-4), 0 HR, 0 RBI's, 0 BB, 2 K Glen Perkins-0-0, 1 IP, 9.00 ERA, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0K Venezuela (eliminated (soon-to-be)): Deolis Guerra-No stats because he is now injured and out of the WBC So far, Justin Morneau, Colabello, and Mauer are doing fairly well. Go Twins in the WBC!
  12. I have always kinda wondered to myself about that. And if all those Yankees are suspended, they should be totally doomed for this upcoming season.
  13. If you were tracking guys like Morneau, Willingham and Mauer, how would they be doing?
  14. After his outings so far, I can't entirely believe that DeVries is ranked too high. He hasn't allowed an earned run yet this Spring. I am pretty sure that the Twins, if they could, would CG Blackburn, too. Maybe it would improve him somehow.
  15. He also appears to have no need for glasses (yet.)
  16. After seeing both Mastro and Hicks so far, I think the best thing for the Twins to do would be to have Hicks start in CF and keep Mastro on as the 4th outfielder. It would give the Twins a good defensive replacement in the late innings to Willingham/Parmelee.
  17. I would've thought that you would've gone with Wild Thing. But I guess that's just a personal preference.
  18. It's good to see that Hendriks is working on making himself a better pitcher. He has the skills to be a #3-#4 type guy; he just needs to realize his full potential against MLB hitters like he has against AAA hitters.
  19. So, did you notice that Hicks is currently leading the Twins in HR's? Yup, that's some power for yah! (Even if it is Spring Training)
  20. Personally, I think Provus is better than Gordon ever was.
  21. When did Dick Bremer move to the radio, and is Provus still with the radio team? I just tuned into the game, and it was a little surprising to hear Bremer on the radio.
  22. Any idea when (or if) we will get to see these two pitch for the Twins? Are they still rehabbing their respective injuries? Or have they just been pitching in the B games?
  23. No Thome? He seems like a guy who could just play forever.
  24. Former Twins: 1-11 with 2 K's. Not a good line for them. The three CF candidates have so far done a good job at making the decision hard for Gardy. It will be interesting to see how this battle continues to play out over the next month+.
  25. Looks like Morneau is on fire so far this season. 3-run double? YUP!
