  1. And this one of the few times it seems that a Carl WIllis mound visit didn't end with rally killing result for Cleveland.
  2. It would be interesting to find out from someone who has access to analytics. From my eyeballs, it appears that Lewis and Buxton have a similar problem which is that they both seem to expand their strike zone with RISP because they want to be the hero instead of making the pitcher pitch to them.
  3. The dream was for Ryan to get through the game, but it's looking like someone will have to come out for the 9th inning. Cole Sands possibly?
  4. I'm pretty sure that according to the old commercial. TC Bear is the only one who lives at Target Field. 😎
  5. I do like that tonight's game will be part of a double-header in September instead of burning the mutual day off the following Monday. I surmise that is the last day off for both teams as it is for the Twins for the season and would be nice to not burn out the bullpen before the end of the season. I'm likely crazy, but I would have liked to see Paddack finish the suspended game on Wednesday with the hope that he would be the only pitcher used and have a full bullpen for the scheduled Wednesday game. I'm not sure it would have hurt us to have both Paddack and Lopez go the same day as we have another day off on Thursday. EDIT: I now see that Ryan is supposed to be next in the rotation so that my idea could be that possibility as I do not see Ryan as listed as announced starters until his next rotation turn on Monday in TB.
  6. I think a more likely scenario had the opportunity been available would have been to play the series in Milwaukee. Both Cleveland and the Twins were in Milwaukee last week and there has been precedent for it before, albeit when Cleveland was trying to play a series in a blizzard!
  7. One thing I do enjoy about getting MLB.TV this year is the ability to watch and listen to other broadcasters such as Dan Schulman with the Blue Jays and Jon Miller from SF.
  8. I was actually surprised that they didn't look at the forecast for the week and try to reschedule the game earlier in the day so they could have stood a better chance of getting the game in today like we have seen with other teams already during the season.
  9. When I looked at the schedule earlier today, the other time Cleveland comes to MN is late in the season (Sept. 19-21). The good news about that scheduling is that there is an off day before AND after the series so you could end up playing a double header during the series without potentially killing your bullpen.
  10. I actually like it as I think it allows the color commentators to be a little more "honest" so to speak about the team in general and you don't hear the same 7-8 stories all season long.
  11. Gladden not calling on radio tonight. Perk is the color commentator tonight.
  12. I'll provide better commentary. We can pick up a game on the entire AL Central tonight.
  13. Provided they maintain this lead and get the win. I'm curious how much pressure will be on Zebby tomorrow to make sure he doesn't ruin the streak.
  14. Nice they got that next run across. Maybe open up for Funderburk, Alcala, or Topa to get some work in.
  15. And the ghost of Emilo Pagan strikes again! Pagan closes out another Cleveland loss.
  16. When these baby O's came onto the scene as AL contenders, it seemed as they were a year too early and management (and ownership) wasn't quite ready to push all the chips in. Where I do believe a good manager makes a difference is keeping the team even keeled and managing expectations. A lot of people questioned how the Tigers would respond this season after last season's surprising playoff run. The Tigers just have the best record in baseball at the moment and currently winning again this afternoon. You have to attribute at least some of that to the manager, AJ Hinch. As for Baldelli, I think he is closer to Hyde as a manager than Hinch. He can ride the highs like the best of them but doesn't seem to have many answers when the lows come in, similar to earlier this year before the 12-game winning streak. Pitching and defense does seem to solve a lot of problems though.
  17. The telecast was talking about Bader. My speculation was that it was down to someone reaching base.
  18. Ryan actually efficient if you don't count the 1st inning. Worst part is that this is probably his last inning so I hope the bullpen is ready.
  19. If Fitz does come up, that does require a 40-man move. Maybe Tonkin or Wallner gets shifted to the 60-day IL. Potentially, Gasper ends up getting DFA'd with the understanding he would re-sign a minor league contract. A 40-man move would also have to be made if McCusker was brought up to the Twins as well.
  20. Maybe this also gives CC a chance to rehab his other ailments depending on how serious the concussion is. Hopefully, it's just a couple days even though he'll have to spend the entire 7-day IL stint.
  21. Raya is schedule to pitch tomorrow in Iowa. I think we can leave him there for now. Matthews is scheduled for Friday. Festa for Saturday. Maybe possible to push Lopez back a day (Saturday to Sunday) since they have no starter currently listed for Sunday and bring up Festa for Saturday. I believe you are still stuck with SWR and his next scheduled start next Monday against Cleveland. A couple other things to consider. Any pitchers sent down must stay in AAA for 15 days unless brought back up because of injury. Also, I am unfamiliar with what options many of these relievers have left and most of them are too good to just DFA and pray no one else picks them up.
  22. Rent the Clemens family a home in Chanhassen and keep him in the lineup the rest of the year?
  23. You would have to wonder if Coulombe or Duran are available in an emergency since each of them only used 11 pitches.
