Another sign of good news. NBA finally approved the sale of the Wolves and Lynx. Only took 4 years to do it. Let's hope that it doesn't take the Twins that long to get sold.
In this instance bringing in your closer in the 9th inning of a tied game when you're the home team is exactly what you would do as a closer. Just didn't work out as Duran didn't execute. Every other team has their closer out in that exact situation.
I don't think Raleigh was up the line far enough to beat the throw at the plate. With that being said, this team should be desperate and taking chances to score. Much like Larnach's hustle double, Wallner probably should have been sent.
80 pitches for Paddack. I don't understand why Rocco seems to be terrified of bringing in a pitcher in the middle of the inning. Is he getting a pace of play bonus if his games are in the top 10% of shortest timed games all year?
Another thing to consider as well is that players like Bader, Castro (when not hurt), Clemens, and others may see where the team is trending. If they perform well, maybe they will be traded to a winning team come deadline time.
As bad as the pitching is now, I'll take it over Kyle Gibson's 4 starts this year: 0-4, 12 1/3 IP, 16.78 ERA. But for you advanced metrics people, he has had some bad luck as his FIP is only 10.53 this year.
Today was only 5 runs in the third. Improvement over yesterday's 6 runs in the third.
But don't you worry! We will get to see at least another year of this now that Rocco has been extended and Falvey's excuse will be "Just wait until we are healthy!"
Whew! We just dodged a bullet. Whit Merrifield just announced his retirement. I'm sure if Falvey would have known he was still out there if FA land, he would have signed him already.
In principle I agree with you. With Correa discussing this with the FO without the manager, I don't see where Correa is going to respect any of the potential coaches that would be the interim replacement for a fired Rocco.
Look at the Seattle manager tonight. He took over for Scott Servais and went 21-13 the rest of 2024 and missed the playoffs by 1 game. Certainly better than how we finished 2024.
I'm reasonably certain that I screamed that very thing when the Reds hired Tito. We could have had Tito!!! AJ Hinch with the Tigers would be another manager that would have been nice to consider when he was available.
