I think you misconstrued my thought process. In no way do I think this is a good idea. The Twins are competing for a playoff spot. We need Ryan for every out he can give us. I am just thinking out loud on why they wouldn't have pitched Paredes today since this would have been his scheduled day to pitch. If it did happen, Ryan would have 10 days off (minus a short outing in the ASG). If you are not considering trading him, it is a thought process to ensure he is healthy for the second half. Again, I wouldn't do it, but it is a discussion item.

I agree. That is a head scratcher for me. I had expected that he would come in today following Ober since they didn't use him yesterday following Prielipp. I guess he comes in this weekend for a short start. Would the Twins be crazy enough to give Joe Ryan a start off on Saturday and have Paredes make the start in his place? That gives Ryan extra rest prior to the ASG since I would expect him to pitch in that game.

We can at least have another segment for next year called "Denard Span says the darndest things!"

I'll say this again. It's easy to complain about a player's performance and say he needs to be DFA'd, sent down, or somehow shot into the sun. It's harder to come up with a reasonable solution to the problem. The only relief of any known quantity down in AAA is Bowman and he just arrived back in St. Paul. We can complain about Shelton's choices of bullpen arms or the FO not signing any bullpen help. Sometimes, we just have to accept our fate and try to root them forward.

I'm not sure he trusts his command yet. His stuff is so filthy that he can get swings and misses in AAA without having to adjust his approach. Cleveland has typically been a very patient hitting team and Rojas's current stuff doesn't translate to a patient approach. He will have to learn.

Yes. Losing because we had no hope is better than watching hope go by and not snatching it. Edit: It's the hitter's version of the bullpen blowing leads.

Here's a list of the moves today. Ober took the extra spot and Rojas is replacing Prielipp. Interesting to see if we see Paredes or Rojas making the starts for Prielipp.

I'll try to summarize all of the comments I have made about this the last couple of days in this thread. 1. I like this as a change of pace and, as @Riverbrian has pointed out, is the wave of the future and we need to embrace it if we want viewership to continue to rise, especially for the Twins are depending on MLB.TV for their production and distribution. As people have developed fatigue for the number of streaming services which they have to pay for, the ability to continually make a production more entertaining is a must. 2. The goal would be to tighten it up, so it is closer to the ManningCast that we see on Monday Night Football. A bit more analysis would really elevate this broadcast, such as a better explanation for why Lee was picked off 3rd last night would have helped. 3. Wednesday's broadcast was already an improvement over Tuesday's as they weren't all in the booth at the same time for much of the game. The idea of getting to have analysts in different parts of the stadium was a great experience to watch and listen to how they see the game from various parts of the ballpark. 4. We got to see first-hand the outsized influence that Plouffe has on the organization. His antic of handing out $20's got Tom Pohlad out of his suite to sit down with both Plouffe and Span in the corners and interact with fans during the game. I challenged this thread to find me another front-facing owner who has done this, in any sport, in the last five years. So far, I have not received a response on this one yet. This isn't to defend the Pohlads in what they have done to this team, just pointing out that he is willing to step down from his ivory tower, even for a moment, to interact with fans. I also believe Plouffe is the only person in the Twins organization with a pulse on the fanbase due to his position with Jomboy Media. Ultimately, this will be a win for future viewership. I would like to see Molitor in the booth for one of the games, maybe not all of them. I understand the concern of toning down the jocularity as they would defer to him as an expert. I think the broadcast would win though as we would get to hear from both a manager's perspective as well as a player. I think hearing from what the manager expects in a situation vs what the player is experiencing would be a great insight to the broadcast. There are two series which this broadcast setup would be perfect for: this series in front of the Twins HOF weekend and the upcoming Player's weekend, provided the Twins are at home.

I believe you're right about this becoming the wave of the future. Their ultimate goal would be closer to the ManningCast on Monday Night Football. A bit better mix of goofing off and deep dive analysis would make this a great broadcast. For example, a better explanation with video on why Lee managed to get himself picked off of 3rd or Keaschall's route running in CF for his first game back would have really helped. I hope they continue to tweak on it and maybe bring it back later in the season. Just thought of a tweak that I think could make this entire idea really stand out. Have Molitor in the booth as part of the all-analyst team. Having a former manager and coach in the booth would really help explain what is expected from the players as well as the player's experience of what they are feeling out there from the remaining former players in the booth.

Heard a report yesterday that seven umps are retiring after this year. I think the intended turnover is on. The umps that can't adjust are going to be leaving within the next few years. Our besties CB Bucknor, Laz Diaz, Lance Barksdale, and Tony Randazzo are among them.

I may need a shower after this, but I am on an island defending Tom Pohlad in this specific situation. I would assume that he was listening to the broadcast from his suite (since it's on all TVs at Target Field) and made the decision to get involved and show some love to the fans by visiting Plouffe in LF and Span in RF and participate in the cash giveaway that Plouffe initiated. It may not have been much from Tom. It may have been specifically to look good for the cameras. I don't care. He is making the appearance of interacting with the fans during the game. I challenge anyone to find another front-facing owner who has done that in the last few years at any stadium for any sport. PS: PLEASE SELL THE TEAM!!!
