  1. That pitch that Fedko swung at. I'm reasonably sure that would have been a low strike for Paul Bunyan.
  2. I blame @krink. He promised itching powder in all their shorts, and I don't see the reaction of a team with itching powder.
  3. It's not just that either. It's the International pool money we traded away for Banda. It's nothing against Banda, but those are the players you can sign for $50K and potentially hit a home run. Andrew Friedman going to the Dodgers has been like a cheat code. His experience in the Rays organization spotting talent out of necessity just enhances their ability to stay on top now that Friedman has the funds to fill the gaps when needed. It also helps because they don't give their rookies a lot of time to figure it out. See Outman and Lux. They looked good for a while. Once they didn't, they were shipped off.
  4. Do you think Luke could hold up this glove and play it in the field?
  5. Nobody up in the Twins bullpen? With a day off on Thursday? I guess the Twins really are going to just S-can the game and try again tomorrow.
  6. Great news! Voth has lowered his achievement level back to a 9.00 ERA. EDIT: Spoke too soon.......
  7. Agree. Again, I refer to Plouffe's experience on this. He has stated that he needed lots of reps to improve his defense. I don't think Keaschall will ever be a gold glover, but we have seen crazy changes. Carlos Santana and Ty France were considered butchers in the field and became gold glovers. Luis Arraez is currently one of the year's best defenders at 2nd. Anything can happen with enough repetition. It's important that he doesn't take his batting out into the field and vice versa.
  8. Voth overachieved tonight. He was working on a 9.00 ERA coming into the game. He has now upped his game.
  9. Get the ladies up in the north country working on sewing little gift pouches together for them.
  10. At least it wasn't his first home run. Twins pitching have been experts at giving those up this year.
  11. Like Gameday suggests. If the Scots were here, they would be singing "I would walk 500 miles!"
  12. Mound visit by Caratini: Caratini: Can you see the little white thing in front of you on the ground? Rojas: Yes. Caratini: Try aiming for it next time.
  13. I'm not sure I would believe that. Of course, that's just watching the game and not with any sort of metrics at all.
  14. I'm going to defend Luke here. That was a pretty hot smash that, if he could have been able to make the out, would have been considered a good play. I've seen a lot of those balls go through and Luke at least got a glove on it. Maybe it would have turned out differently had he reacted a little quicker, but it wasn't an egregious play.
  15. I made that point last night after it was announced that Ryan would be pushed back a start. Seems strange push the start back due to illness the night before. I believe this has more to do with MLB wanting to promote a big game than it is a personal decision by Ryan. I'm not sure Ryan would care who or when he goes on the mound.
  16. I wonder if twin telepathy works in baseball. Tyler Rodgers line today for the Blue Jays: 1 IP, 3H, 2R, 1 ER, in 18 pitches coughing up the lead to the Astros. Didn't help with the catcher's interference for the second run though. Maybe we shouldn't find out and not have Rogers go out today. 😉
  17. Do the Twins have a boxer? Maybe we can send him on based on the Marquess of Queensberry Rules? I think we could stand a better chance of winning the game.
  18. This should help Prielipp's load management as well to push him back a couple of days. Hopefully a more favorable matchup for the young man against the Rockies.
  19. Ryan is the second-hottest trade discussion for pitchers behind Skubal. That's what he is to the rest of the country. EDIT: I would also add that, for those trade suitors, a Joe Ryan game against the Dodgers could be very important to his potential trade value. It's still essentially the Dodgers vs the field on who wins the WS. If you are trading to try to beat the best, you want this start to see how he measures up.
  20. Shelton also announced that Abel has swelling in his elbow joint again. No ligament damage. Seems we get to start over on his recovery. Too bad. I was hoping there would be reinforcements coming soon.
  21. I wonder if that means a Rojas start tomorrow? I could see MLB wanting to set up Ryan vs Ohtani for game 3 as a must-see game.
  22. Nice call by the ump. Live I did not think Pages went around.
  23. That looked like a shaky catch by Call in the OF. Would have been nice if that ball would have got passed him.
  24. I think that is the toughest part of the zone to call since you just can't lean over the catcher enough to see that pitch all the way. I know @mrtwinsfan hates it when catchers sit to receive the ball, but that's why, in order to give the ump a better look at that low strike.
