  1. News tidbit that just came out today. Lance McCullers was just DFA'd from Milwaukee right after they just traded for him. Not sure he is worth it, but he is a warm body and that would give a little bit more depth in starting pitching. Especially since I don't expect the Twins to go get the type of pitcher we need to make a serious stretch run.
  2. Shelton did admit in his postgame interview that, had he known about the Ryan's day today, he would have started or got Jeffers into the game today.
  3. Oh for those that remember a world of manual transmissions, someone was riding the clutch too much and is now wore out.
  4. The A's have made the Lefty call into Jamie Moyer to start the finale. I bet he could still get through this lineup once even at 63 years old.
  5. I hope you are able to take a snapshot of that cheeky TBD fellow. He's more elusive than Bigfoot.
  6. Powerball jackpot is an estimated $600 million. Do you have any magic numbers for tomorrow?
  7. Zebby throwing a QS and not going to get a decision. We still have hope though! MLB's worst bullpen has entered the game.
  8. He found his Ouija board and channeled the ghost of Jamie Moyer to make the start against the Twins.
  9. That looked like some Twins baserunning there. Good job Homeless A's.
  10. I've been out all day, so I haven't read it yet. I'm guessing everyone with a workable pulse is supposed to be traded? Have they suggested resurrecting Big Train Walter Johnson back from the dead to give about 150 innings? If you think about it, it could be like Jurassic Park. Think of all the money the Pohlads could save by being able to clone and patent that technology?
  11. This is the correct answer whether we are willing to accept it or not. Our current rotation is Ryan, Ober, Bradley, Matthews, and TBD. Even though that TBD guy is a versatile as that Cash Considerations guy, I'm not excited about building a rotation around him. When Prielipp comes back, he still will only fill the TDB role and possibly need relievers giving long relief, so we don't burn our bullpen every 5th day. Of course, this gets even worse if Ryan is traded at the deadline. Right now, a 2027 rotation is based on hopes and prayers that everyone comes back healthy and is effective. I'm a fan of a backup plan just in case our hopes and prayers don't materialize. That likely means that Matthews stays in the rotation either at the ML level or in St Paul depending on his options available. At best for 2027, we are looking at a rotation of Lopez, Ryan, Bradley, Ober and one of Abel, Prielipp, or Matthews. Whomever doesn't make it to the rotation will have to be in St Paul with jet packs on to come on over if someone goes down. Ultimately, we cannot afford to have Matthews switch to a reliever at this point.
  12. Everyone keeps discussing giving Jeffers the QO. It seems I read somewhere that the MLBPA tried to get rid of this in the last negotiations and just didn't get the proposal to the finish line. The owners were actually willing to make this concession, but they ended up not having to in the end, probably because any concessions the players would have to make wasn't worth it. The MLBPA hates it as they feel it is a soft collusion tactic by the owners (they're not wrong) because it restricts where they can sign and how much money they can take because the signing team doesn't want to give up the draft pick or international bonus pool money. This puts the Twins in a sticky situation. The deadline to offer Jeffers a QO will be mid-November prior to the official end of the current CBA on December 1st. The QO may end up being eliminated as part of the CBA negotiations. This idea concerns me more than what the QO amount would be and if Jeffers would accept it. If the QO was eliminated as part of the new CBA, Jeffers could sign anywhere penalty free, and the Twins would unlikely bid for his services. We then look at the real possibility that we lost Jeffers for nothing. No trade, no draft picks. I'm not trying to suggest that we must trade Jeffers. I am saying is that this possibly needs to be part of the analysis built in on whether we trade or keep him. Hopefully Tom P and Zoll are getting reports from the owner's negotiators on where they stand with this as part of their analysis.
  13. Yep. Culpepper is a different story because, as we are seeing, the luster of the Man from Kreidler is starting to wear off. He is still the best option we currently have at SS. But, as you have said, they cleared the spot for him. He just needs to stay healthier longer than Czar Nicholas II's son with hemophilia before we can bring him up.
  14. Let's take more leaps of faith than Indiana Jones and suggest that Zoll and the team are self-aware of their predicament about the number of OF in the upper reaches of the organization. They could have a plan for Jenkins for 2027. Jenkins is currently not on the 40-man, which means that he can still report for spring training if there is a lockout. If you think the season is lost or that Jenkins can't help you this season, it could stand to reason to keep him off the 40-man to get the extra work in prior to the season and you activate him for the beginning of next season. That also gives an opportunity for Zoll to work through the backlog of OF's through offseason trades, which are easier to make with the quality of the OF we currently have. Trading Wallner, Roden, Martin, Larnach, etc. are all easier in the offseason than right now as, other than Larnach, none of them will help a contending team this season.
  15. I could see Shelton either doing one of two things. Running Morris/Gomez just because they haven't pitched since Friday night or seeing if Anderson can go two innings since he only threw 8 pitches last night.
  16. Halpin is going to demand to be traded to every team the Twins ever face. He could potentially be a HOF in 10 years the way he is seeing Twins pitching.
  17. Regardless of how this at bat turns out, Keaschall has probably done a lot to knock out Cecconi.
