  1. Very efficient from Sands. 2 innings, 21 pitches. Maybe some other pitchers on the team should take some notes.
  2. But he is the pride of Forest Lake! He's a Minnesotan so he will need at least another half dozen chances after they finally DFA Outman!
  3. Crap. Too many men on base for Wallner to hit a home run in this AB.
  4. The camera person zoomed out and I got to see TC Bear over the dugout. At first glance, it looked like he had a paper bag over his head. Just turned out to be a blanket due to it being cold.
  5. I just looked it up for tonight. He does have 1 minor league option remaining.
  6. I am just disappointed that I am not watching the game with a bottle of Jack Daniels near me.
  7. This may not be what the fans want to hear. If the game gets anymore out of hand, you can burn Kent or Funderburk to save the rest of the bullpen. Kent still does have one option left.
  8. The announcers keep quoting the stats from the minors last year. We will see as the year goes on. Even many of the misses have been less than 1" off, which I believe is allowed when the umpires are being graded on their strike zone.
  9. You want to hear the family friendly answer or the dark humor answer?
  10. I guess the good news is that Altavilla in St. Paul hasn't pitched since the 31st so he should be available tomorrow when some poor reliever will have to wear the stain of Abel's bad start.
  11. I understand that Bell has been pretty good with ABS challenges. I still think there needs to be a decision tree on when it's appropriate to challenge, whether you think you would be right or not.
  12. Outman getting the start is not a surprise to give Buxton a day off. I'm curious how long Wallner will get to stay in that spot in the lineup. He's quickly becoming a Bermuda Triangle for rallies.
  13. I brought this over from last night's story. Given this chart, it almost looks inevitable considering yesterday's short start from Ober. Abel may have to be hung out there for a while to just get outs if it goes bad for him right away tonight. You would expect Orze, Topa, and possibly Kent to still be down tonight. Laweryson and Banda are likely not going to be your first choices unless they are finishing an inning and not coming out for the next inning. That leaves you Funderburk, Rogers, and Sands. A short or a bad start likely means someone is making the St. Paul Shuffle. Another reference point is that they have already been planning this inevitability as Altavilla has been pitching on multiple days in a row in St. Paul, assuming that he will be the first player called up.
  14. I think Royce picked up the skill of bouncing balls to 1st from CC. Correa did that a lot but obviously had quite a bit more control over the delivery than Royce. Seems like I remember the TV broadcast covered that last year as way to improve Royce's fielding. I'm not sure he graduated from the class before CC was traded though.
  15. Outman did his job and got into scoring position. Runner on 2nd with nobody out. Someone smell out an RBI!
  16. My only issue with Caratini would be that he would clog up the bases and be a station to station runner.
  17. This is where I hope that Keaschall is able to get to. He looks like he still can run into one, but he also looks like he has the skills to be a more consistent hitter than anyone they have had in leadoff so far this year.
  18. Let's assume that Jeffers will at least be shopped if not traded by the trade deadline. It makes sense that Jeffers would get a large majority of the starts as the Twins as teams that may want to trade for Jeffers want to make sure that he can actually handle the workload. As some others have opined, Caratini will get the majority of the starts if Jeffers is traded mid-season.
  19. My first concern would be the brain trust in developing prospects. We are seeing in real time the consequences of not adequately developing prospects in Lewis, Lee, Wallner, and Larnach. The two teams given as an example in the article, the Mariners and Brewers, have proven that they are better at developing high draft picks into viable major league players than the Twins. Top players from Mariners drafts since 2017: 2018: Logan Gilbert & Cal Raleigh, 2019: George Kirby, 2021: Harry Ford & Bryan Woo, Top players from Brewers drafts since 2017: 2018: Brice Turang, 2021 Sal Frelick, 2022 Jacob Misiorowski, 2023 Cooper Pratt Although not mentioned in the article, there are rumors that the Pirates are working on a similar contract for Konnor Griffin. Even the Pirates have had a better draft and development of players than the Twins. All of that to say that if you have a proven record of draft and development, the risk of locking up these young players may be worth it compared to a team like the Twins who does not have the same record of success
  20. The Twins are so dysfunctional that they can't even get sound to the postgame reaction from Shelton.
  21. That has been my thoughts ever since they signed him in the offseason.
  22. I have found the answer to all of the struggles of Keaschall, Lee, and Outman! I finally paid attention to the stupid Carshield commercial and they are all in dugout answering the phones for Carshield instead of focusing on the game!
