  1. I know it was considered a wild pitch, but Caratini could have at least made an attempt to block it.
  2. I just turned on the game. Looks like we got ourselves a pitcher's duel.
  3. Another name that fits your criteria: Sandy Koufax. Prior to his 1961 season, his lowest ERA in a full season was 3.91 and as high as 4.91 with a WHIP of 1.619 in 1956. His average SO/BB ratio during that time was 1.70, nearly a full strikeout lower than Hill at 2.65K/BB. I had to look up the numbers but had heard this recently perusing though a mini doc about how Koufax defended a young Nolan Ryan because he went through the same issues early in his career.
  4. To answer the question posed, here is the order that I would keep the list of players mentioned provided that all of them are supposed to be defensive specialists. 1. Kreidler - Mainly due to his ability to play CF if Buxton needs a day off. Unless the Twins are willing to promote Fedko while Jenkins, Roden, and the remainder of the patients in the hospital ward come back quickly as I do not know how the rehab is going for any of them. 2. Gray - As previously mentioned, he is the only player of the three who can provide a platoon option. 3. Arcia - This leaves him as the odd man out. Kreidler or Lewis could fill in for Lee. They want to give Lewis as much time at 1st or 2nd as they can. Clemens can field 1st or 2nd and we can even use Bell in a pinch at 1st. One more idea not asked in the article. If they are thinking on a Keaschall reset, they should do it now. Let's hypothesize there is a real trade market for Clemens. Considering the number of positions Clemens can cover, they will need Keaschall to cover 2nd if he is ever traded. They should try to reset him now, before the trade deadline, so he can come back and be the regular 2nd baseman like they have done with Lewis.
  5. This certainly doesn't help with Laweryson being this terrible. I would guess he was expected to go 2 innings and save the bullpen.
  6. Matthews is still pitching because the bullpen is as dry as LA's fire hydrants before a fire. If you can believe it, they labeled the Lewis misplay as a hit.
  7. We have to be approaching some kind of record of Twins pitching giving up an opposing player's first home run of the year.
  8. And Zebby just has to eat it as he needs to log in at least 2-3 more innings to try to save the bullpen.
  9. Next week on Unsolved Mysteries. Cody searches the organization for the mysterious pitcher named TBD that suddenly appears than disappears from lineups from time to time.
  10. Like I said in yesterday's thread, results may vary.
  11. I was going to suggest that he has a wheel in the dugout named "Wheel of Regrets"
  12. Including one by Wallner. According to the Royce Lewis path back to the majors, he is now ready to be recalled.
  13. This is why I hate bullpen games. The script has to be perfect in order to win the game. If one pitcher falters, we are toast.
  14. Don't worry Morneau, we still heckle you here in the threads. You just don't get to hear us.
  15. I may end up watching the Saints game. It looks like it will be a better pitching matchup at least.
  16. Looks like our winner of the bullpen sacrifice fund (starter) is Paredes. Bradley has seemed to be back to not being able to put hitters out. How many hits did he give up with two strikes? As Sam Caulder mentions in his article, he still possesses swing and miss stuff. It just looks like that teams are laying off the stuff out of the zone and making him try to miss bats in the zone and he can't do it. It is tough to blame pitchers for blowing up games when your defense looks closer to Little League than a professional baseball team. Lewis allowing the ball to clank off of his mitt and roll all the way across the infield didn't help. While the Tigers didn't score that inning, it did cause Bradley to throw an additional five high stress pitches with runners in scoring position. I know there were other miscues/lapses on defense, but that one was the most egregious and Lewis did not get an error on the play.
  17. I have found the clip that the Twins should have in their pregame show. Instead of the MLB.TV lead in, play the old Hee Haw comedy bit: Gloom, Despair, and Agony on Me.
  18. Well Cory, I can tell you how the pitching situation will go tomorrow. Just play the song Highway to Hell by AC/DC and you'll be pretty close to answering your own question.
  19. I'm not sure why I'm still watching this game. I could be watching Brewers/A's being played in the bandbox which is Las Vegas Stadium this week where the Saints racked up all of those runs. They scored 29 runs last night in 12 innings.
  20. Definitely could up Clemens' value. He could be marketed as a 2-way player, like Ohtani.
  21. We are just a grand slam away from Kody Clemens pitching time!
  22. I hope Clemens has his pitching arm warmed up. He can go back to his roots in Detroit when they score 4 more runs and we can bring in a position player.
