    This road trip might be what sinks the Twins. Two brutal walk-off losses in Seattle - at least 2 out of 3 against the Royals - and then, the Brewers. They've been on the brink before only to steady themselves and get back into the mix. But, time is running short.

    Tristan Gray has turned into a pumpkin and then some. He's not playable right now. Same for Roden. Put me in the camp of, Culpepper and Jenkins can't be any worse but there may be some concerns about keeping them in the minors to maximize playing time. As for Jackson - Twins would probably lose him if they put him through waivers - and there's at least some universe where he has value backing-up Caratini in 2027 but...will there even be a 2027 season?

    Oh, and I wasn't in the game thread last night beyond one post - but, Joe Ryan. Woof! The fact that he has 6 wins and the Twins are 'only' 2 games under .500 is kind of crazy.

    Time is of the essence, boys. Need to start stacking wins. I need to do some research but IIRC, it was the 2001 season and the Twins started off on fire and were holding off Cleveland heading into August and it was the Tampa Bay Rays that proved to be their Kryptonite. At the time, the Rays were awful. Hopefully we don't look back at 2026 and say, but-for the Royals, the Twins could have grabbed the third wild card spot.

    We don't know what they have in Tait and Abel, and I would take Duran over those two every single time.

    We wanted the Twins to invest in the roster. And, they did. Jury will be out for a while, but I would prefer this type of trade deadline to last year's all the time.

    Two brutal losses on Saturday and Sunday. On the bright side, the Twins are a resilient group - they certainly keep fighting. On the flip side though, those are the games they have to win if they want to sneak into the post-season.

    Sh*t happens. Tough loss. But Lewis has been much better of late. Twins don't win on Thursday or last night without him. He hasn't gotten a ton of reps at first base. So, yeah, it sucks but move on and win tomorrow.

    I'm not sure Kremer can be optioned down again.... Tough for Zebby. He gave them some solid starts this season and I suspect he'll be back at some point before season's end.

    Why would Houston say no? Thank goodness they saved the Twins from themselves. I get trading Larnach but Abreu is pretty toasty right now.

    If 2026 taught us anything, you need all the starting pitching you can get. Abel's health long term is problematic.

    I said it before. Twins biggest problem isn't being cheap so much as it making bad decisions when they have the flexibility to add to the roster. Adding a starter makes sense. But, Kremer has been pretty bad of late. Some of it is bad luck and pitching in Camden Yards. And some of it is, he's just not very good.

    Yeah, starting pitcher hasn't been mentioned much but Prielipp, IIRC, is on an innings limit and he's quickly approaching it. Couple that with Zebby being up and down and Joe struggling at times, and they'd do well to grab a 4th or 5th starter to slot behind Joe, Bradley, and Ober.

    Sounds like the fastball, post-injury, might not ever be what it was - or at least not this season. But, it is something you can live with. He doesn't walk people and he knows how to pitch in a big spot. Gomez, Morris and Minter. Three arms that you can trust. In terms of what's next, they could use another righty to either replace Anderson or Adams - the latter has shown signs of breaking through and Anderson has intriguing stuff - but, if the goal is to sneak into the post-season, you probably need an upgrade over one of them. Regardless, it is a nice conversation to have. I believe it's been one year exactly since the sell-off and we all know how much that sucked and what it said about the Twins. To be at .500 in a year where they lost Pablo for the season, Abel for most of it, dealt with injuries to Buxton - it says a lot about the job Shelton's done and the chemistry in the clubhouse.

    Kudos to the Twins. Minter has pitched in a lot of big games over the years. No offense to Fundy and Rogers, but this is the kind of lefty you want coming out of the bullpen.

    Man, if there's ever a game that will have momentum carrying into the next one - has to be this. Just unreal. And, ahem, there were folks that wanted Kody DFA'ed in April.
