  1. Have to earn that $10MM...
  2. With even a mediocre hitting team, Twins are around 10 games over .500 with 6+ game lead right now. Sigh...
  3. Take away Joe Ryan's first inning and the pitching has been stingy against one of the best line-ups (if not the best) in baseball. Makes the futility at the plate all the more infuriating.
  4. The pitch Lewis struck out on - was almost the identical pitch he fouled off right before it. Farmer's clueless right now. Guy's confidence is shot. He could use a stint on the bench.
  5. Popkins is going to get fired soon...right?!?
  6. Yeah, thought his last start in Detroit was smoke & mirrors but he's been tough today. A shame that the first run was the only one the Braves needed.
  7. Props to Kenta. Battling against an elite line-up.
  8. Braves going to get to Kenta here and put this game on ice.
  9. If they don't fire Popkins after this road trip...
  10. Maeda battling against a loaded line-up and the offense can't do squat for him. I said this before, when you're a pitcher taking the mound and you know that 1-2 runs means a loss, it has to be quite the mind f***.
  11. Considering their record in one run games, there's nothing wrong with getting the 'easy' runs on the board. They have squandered so many opportunities this year.
  12. Popkins graduated from St. Augustine High School in San Diego, California where he was named first team eastern league in 2007 and 2008. He was Eastern league player of the year in 2008. Popkins graduated from the University of California, Davis, where he played college baseball for the UC Davis Aggies. He was named All Big West First Team for two years. After going undrafted out of college, Popkins signed with the St. Louis Cardinals, and made the post season all star team in Advanced A in the Florida State league for the Palm Beach Cardinals in 2013. He reached Double A in 2014.[1] He played in independent league baseball with the Washington Wild Things, hitting 35 home runs over two seasons. He retired as an active player in 2017.[2] In 2019, the Dodgers named Popkins as a hitting coach for the Arizona Dodgers of the Arizona League.[3] In 2021, he coached for the Great Lakes Loons.[4] After the 2021 season, the Minnesota Twins hired Popkins to be their hitting coach.[2][5]
  13. Based on his resume and experience, Popkins being the hitting coach at St. Paul would be a reach.
  14. Leadoff double and another goose egg. This is maddening.
  15. Through last night, the Twins have struck out 824 times are batting .232. FIRE POPKINS
  16. Lewis and Kirilloff - who else?
  17. 2 runs means this game is over. Hell, was over with 1 run. Just can't take it.
  18. This is something I've noticed. The looking up at the jumbotron, completely exasperated and confused as to what happened. Popkins needs to go. I don't care what he did last season because even that was mediocre at best. This team desperately needs a different voice and different approach at the plate. The strikeouts are on a historically bad pace.
  19. The team is completely lifeless, you can see the body language. Rocco's not inspiring any type of confidence. If you take 2019 off his resume, and that season was an anomaly across the entire league, he's done nothing to earn the benefit of the doubt. Popkins is the other elephant in the room. I am simply baffled that any major league hitter would look as overmatched as some of these Twins hitters do. Something has to change and if either one of those two were fired today, I wouldn't shed a tear.
  20. This line-up is disgusting.
  21. How often do Falvey and/or Levine address the media during the season? I'd love for someone to ask why Pagan remains on the roster.
  22. For the life of me, I cannot understand how Pagan continues to be on the roster. JFC. The guy's broken. Whatever the Twins are hoping to find or fix, it isn't happening. In a division race that will likely go into September, Pagan costing you games looms large.
  23. Rocco sitting Royce tonight. Makes perfect sense 🤬
  24. Castro always seemed to kill the Twins when he was with Detroit, or at least he did last season. I was happy when they signed him and he's done way more than expected. Best part if he's under team control for a couple more seasons. Twins need to keep him around.
  25. Props to Falvey and Levine. When they mess up, they get a lot of criticism and rightfully so. But, when one of their moves pays off, they deserve the credit and recognition. Seems like pitchers like Stewart have been their MO for a while - hard throwing with some control issues - hope being if they can tweak something to cut down the walks, you'll have a hard throwing, high-leverage arm. That's Stewart to-date. This is also what makes the line-up woes so frustrating. With Stewart, Jax and Duran at the back-end of games, the Twins' pitching staff has the makings of one that could make a run in October. That's hard to do though when 3 runs might be too much for your offense to overcome.
