I wish someone in the media would ask Rocco the question because there's no reasonable explanation.

Manny Margot leading off! This is getting ridiculous. At least put Kepler in the lineup so Jeffers can catch. You will not convince that this team is better with Vazquez in the lineup and Max on the bench - I don't care if its a lefty pitcher.
  3. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
Yeah, Max is on the biggest hot streak of his career and Rocco still wants to play the lefty-righty game. Zero feel and stubborn beyond belief.

You're not alone. A lot of head scratchers from Rocco.

As for Buxton, I don't know - he might just be a sunken cost at this point. He definitely looks to have lost some bat speed and the elite athleticism that made him so special in CF is starting to wane. His best years are behind him.

The other problem when evaluating Correa's bat - if I'm an opposing pitcher - I'm not giving him anything to hit. Rarely are guys on base when he comes up to hit and more often than not, he has someone like Manny Margot or AK hitting behind him.

This. People don't appreciate how good Correa is. And I'm willing to bet that he's the one that organized the players only meeting and spoke up the loudest. One of the best leaders in the sport.

Yasmani Grandal effectively ended Anderson's career. There was some type of altercation in the White Sox clubhouse last year and Grandal did to Anderson what Jose Ramirez did. He never recovered from it mentally. As for Smeltzer, absolutely. Easy to root for him and hope he finds a spot on an MLB roster.
  9. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
Yup. It was probably music to Rocco's ears. Analytics!
  10. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
Yeah, pretty much. I did drink the Kool-Aid but I shouldn't have. Other than Duran, Jax, Stewart and Sands (maybe), would any of these bullpen arms find a ML job outside of the Twins?

Not to beat a dead horse but Popkins just seems like such low hanging fruit. His resume pre-Twins never lent itself to being a MLB team and aside from a hot streak to end 2023, the offense has been generally ineffective if not completely overmatched. But alas - if it is more of an organizational philosophy as opposed to a lack of competent coaching, we're stuck with the status quo for at least 2024 and likely longer.

Varland isn't that much of a surprise only because the rotation is razor thin and there's a good chance we'll see him starting again. Alcala is a mystery. Not sure if there's some issues with him and the coaching staff, or the performance isn't meeting expectations. I'm extremely skeptical that is the latter because if performance was a motivating factor for this team, there's a handful (if not more) of players that I'd call out before Alcala.

    Best bullpen in baseball.

I've been wondering if his hands are tied - is the front office the one that wants Popkins and is pushing whatever this hitting 'philosophy' is supposed to be...
  15. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
They have to start somewhere. They should be pissed off and ready to play. We shall see...

This team isn't any worse than last year's team - at least not currently. The problem is Cleveland and Kansas City are playing lights out. I keep thinking they'll fall off, but maybe they won't.

Players only meeting last night per ESPN. Also have Rocco for what seems like the 4th or 5th time this year come out in the media questioning the Twins' approach at the plate. I'm just dumbfounded that they haven't made a change among the trio of 'hitting coaches'.
  18. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
Correa needs to set the tone.
  19. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
    Something has to change.
  20. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
    Just a really bad team.
  21. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
When they forced Tingler as the bench coach, I thought Rocco was on the hot seat.
  22. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
Correa is the only one that cares.
  23. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
They have to do something to shake this team up.
  24. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
    This team is checked out.
  25. Twins_Fan_in_NJ
    This one's over.
