  1. Can we quit the Gasper experiment already? its a good story and he plays the game right, he is just so overmatched and it looks like we are mailing it in.
  2. Watching Julien taking massive hacks with RISP is his downfall as a hitter.
  3. I grew up listening to John Gordon on the radio and Dick Bremer on television and I'm nostalgic for the old times. As time wore on Dick and Bert became tougher to listen to as they both reached the golden years. Love Cory Provus in the booth, and Justin provides some interesting insights. As much as I loved the Hawk as a twin, I cannot stand his color commentary.
  4. The fact that Byron ran into the wall going full speed yesterday, and is in the starting lineup today is the biggest ray of hope for a healthy Buxton. Rocco (the overly cautions, helicopter manager that he is) historically has taken him out of games or sat him the following day any time BB had some sort of physical altercation with the field of play, so I'm glad to see he's leading off for us today.
  5. That's exactly what I was thinking. Nobody is upset with the guy getting hit on either team. Everyone knew it was coming.
  6. I do think its funny that they hit the guy who came in for the guy they should have hit. Had to do it with one out in the 9th, didnt want to hit a veteran like Joc.
  7. No, but mostly because I'm not a big "wear a jersey with another man's name on it" kind of guy. My financial support of the Minnesota twins is therefore fairly negligible. Maybe I am the problem. If I had only bought one more souvenir we could have signed Blake Snell.
  8. It's not the criticism that is an issue, it's the attitude of disgust towards a team that is giving fans enjoyable baseball to watch (most of the time). I am as cynical as the next Minnesota sports fan, but I do appreciate that the Twins are a young, exciting team to watch and have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs, despite the best efforts of the FO.
  9. Generally speaking, I traditionally buy-in to the theory that the AL Central is historically, and remains the worst division in baseball. The typical format we centralites live by is 3-teams who are so incredibly mediocre (often fighting for an 87-win division title), then two teams who routinely battle for the crown of worst team in baseball. Miraculously, that is not the case in 2024. This year, though we still have a team fighting for the worst team in baseball (Sorry ChiSox), we have something else as well. We are the only team in baseball right now with 3-teams with 40+ wins. In fact, only one other division (the AL East) has two teams with 40+ wins. Is it time to reevaluate the Central?
  10. Because we batted around, and his first at-bat of the day was a K. Not often that a last inning pinch hitter gets two bites at the apple.
  11. 2-outs in the same inning is even better, productive none the less.
  12. Kepler getting two at bats as an 8th inning pinch hitter is nice
  13. In the immortal words of Rob Fornasiere, "successful teams can hit the ball the other way in crunch time situations". 3 straight opposite field hits from CC, RL, and JM... then Buxton tries to pull an outside fastball on the first pitch. I want him to start smashing the ball to right center soooooo bad, He is out front of everything.
  14. Just let Duran go one more inning... We need another high leverage reliever, yesterday.
  15. What was originally a pleasant afternoon, where I wasn't stressing about the game at all, now becomes "If we lose this game, our season is over". I have never felt the Minnesota sports fan pessimism as bad as I do right. this. second.
  16. Ye of little faith. Final Score, Twins 7 - Yankees 5. We just need to load the basis up for RL one time and we are all square.
  17. I don't mind the early pinch hitting situations where Rocco will make sure its a R/L or L/R matchup in a big spot. What I don't like is doing it en masse. It's happened to many times where the better hitters are on the bench at the end of games, with no flexibility for matchups then. If you bring in Farmer for Julien, Margot for Larnach back to back in the the 6th inning, the 8th or 9th looks like Farmer and Margot against statistically most likely a righty. I understand the theory, I just would prefer best hitter period, especially at the end of the game. The problem is the "best hitter" is a toss up for 50% of our lineup.
  18. The Twins broadcast had his 4-seam at 99MPH for almost all of his pitches, then his splinker/splitter at 93. Maybe there was just a discrepancy in the broadcasts. I didn't actually see the HR pitch so I can't speak to that.
  19. I know I'm complaining about a 99 MPH fastball, but where did Duran's velo go?
