    You know we are all in trouble when Kepler actually does something productive and its a pleasant surprise. It kind of feels like the old NL days when a pitcher randomly cracks a double. Expectations are so low at this point, its laughable.

    I too am a lover of someone who puts the ball in play, doesnt strike out, and does the little things at the plate. However, this brave new world we live in where the long ball is king and strikeouts don't matter seems to be the norm. If we had other players I was confident would do that, my feelings wouldnt be hurt by getting rid of Gallo.

    I am not ignoring how he is playing this year, I just don't believe that his performance this year is as strong as the 10-game sample size that you referenced. I am all in favor of giving Jeffers more time, as I think he is a more dangerous hitter than Vasquez. A platoon system at catcher seems completely normal, given it should be (given our talent) our least productive hitting position. Carlos is a different animal because he has performed every year for the last 5 and we paid him a bunch of money. My whole point is that I'm not a Kepler fan, he hasnt consistently played well the last 2 years, and I think we have some other players who could fit into his spot giving the rest of our lineup more flexibility.

    Correa sits out with his "Ouchie", Lewis comes in a plays shortstop on June 1. Voila! A real Gehrig and Wally Pipp situation unfolds and 2,130 consecutive games later, nobody even remembers who Carlos Correa is.

    I have also been trending towards Castro over Gordon the last few weeks as a bench player, but I tend to lean towards homegrown talent. Also, our homerun leader is not on your list but our corner outfield will be the center of roster/lineup debate for months to come.

    I would disagree with this as the assessment of why Rocco puts him in the lineup, small sample size metrics where three (I think) of his bombs came at progressive field. I think he just really likes Kepler, period. He played 115 games last year and his OPS was .666 (spooky I know). I know there wasn't alot of other options, but since 2019 he just hasn't been a guy that I have any confidence in. It's my inherent bias against left-handed hitting, left-handed throwing outfielders, with "The Kid" being the only exception to my unjustified rule.

    Alas, I don't think dear Rocco will take my advice. I think it would be natural to DFA Solano, even though he is one of only a handful of twins consistently getting hits. The more I see Castro, the more I think he could be a better option than Gordon, and he hits from both sides (although his left handed swing is not my favorite, but it doesnt matter because we have enough left handed bats). Going forward, it's hard to imagine Kepler getting back in the lineup, but Rocco seems to love him. Most of it is mute if Buxton doesnt start getting at least semi-regular time in CF.

    Does this game just not feel like a typical snake-bit Minnesota sports franchise outcome? Grit, resilience, players from all parts of the lineup contributing in big moments to get us back in the game, only to be kicked between the legs in the biggest moment of the game. Cuzzie rewarding Bickford with two horrible calls, after he couldn't find the strikezone seconds before is frustrating, what is more frustrating is Donnie "Barrels" not putting the ball in play in the prior at bat. The infield was giving up a run for the double play, and our "surefire" contact guy cant make contact? Lastly, I think that Vasquez has been doing a poor job of pitch calling when Duran is out there. Duran had the juices flowing last night and was pumping gas, and J.D. Martinez was not close on the first two fastballs he saw. Obviously, Duran missed his spot... but that's not the point. The whole league, at this point, knows he has a filthy splitter and breaking ball, and it makes 103 just a little bit faster when hitters have that in the back of their mind, especially a seasoned guy like J.D. I just thought it was a dumb pitch call, at the wrong time, with bad execution. And now I'm sleep deprived at work because I stayed up to be disappointed. oh well, I guess its only one game.

    Given his track record, it is hard to imagine a scenario where CC doesn't figure it out. However, it is frustrating to watch good hitters consistently missing poorly located fastballs, and his early season efforts to hit the ball into right-center seem to have been abandoned. If more guys on the Twins would adopt Kirilloff's approach, which in IMO is the best on the team, I think we would start seeing more consistency not just from CC, but from a number of hitters. Obviously there are exceptions, as I would never argue that Gallo start trying to drive the ball to the opposite gap. Making adjustments in-season is always difficult because if results don't come right away (as there rarely do), it is easy to abandon a new approach. I just would like to see any adjustment at this point, because watching the same players refuse to adapt every week is soul crushing.
