  1. I hope the stars align and the Twins some how get this kid.
  2. It's pretty simple right now. No one is going to want him unless he starts to get his slug% up.
  3. He's got great control they need to move him along FAST!
  4. When you're a weak control type pitcher you're going to have stretches like this. Diamond will get better as he studies the mistakes and looks back at the tape from last year.
  5. Even if he became the twins best pitcher ever I couldn't cheer for this kid. Hope the Twins look elsewhere.
  6. Couple other things 1) Even when Blackburn was "good" he allowed more hits than any other pitcher in the league. So should he be counted? 2) What's wrong with a little rhetoric and banter? The pitchers have to be acquired via FA or draft because the Twins have shown a irrational and continued reluctance to pay for strike outs on any level. They don't draft the power arms because they demand to be paid above slot. They don't sign strike out pitchers because they demand long contracts. Ultimately they're saying that they want the used Honda Civics of the pitching world but they want us fans to pay new Cadillac prices for their product. Sure it's nice that the Twins seem to be one of the better teams in the league at finding the hidden gems through the rule 5 and waiver wire but the only reason they concentrate so hard on that stuff is because it's cheap. Maybe if they put that much time and effort into figuring out which power arm that is going to want to be paid over slot is actually worth gambling on the team would be going in a better direction, but NO that would be spending time figuring out a way to spend money rather than throwing another few million in old Pohlads money bin.
  7. Here's some things to know about Stewart, he's a cocky red neck Texan punk with diabetes. Ya the Twins should really risk their #4 overall pick on that!
  8. No to Stewart. No to Mcguire
  9. I think it will be hard for the Twins to screw up this draft but I'd stay away from Mcguire and Stewart if I were them. I was in the future the other day and things don't work out for those 2.
  10. Should Aaron Hicks bat leadoff? yes, against LHSP
  11. If they didn't try and make Thome hit the ball the other way then why make Plouffe? Plouffe is a dead pull hitter and if the Twins would stop trying to perfect his swing he'd hit a lot more HR's and consequently make a lot more money in his career. Part of this use the whole field crap is an attempt to keep HR numbers down so none ofthe players think they worth a zillion dollars in FA. Same with strike outs. Twins don't want their pitchers to get stike outs at a high clip cause then they'll want big money in arb and FA. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP
  12. Only 1 way to prove if the coaches and their philosophies are the problem, make a change to differently minded staff and see what happens. Will it ever happen? NO!
  13. It's simple the Twins don't want people thinking about Puckett because he was capable of leading a team to a championship and #7 isn't. They don't want the past around reminding everyone how inadequate or current "leader" is.
  14. Changing managers is bad. Changing Hicks from a switch hitter to his natural side RHB is bad. Changing GM's is really bad. Changing organizational philosophies toward pitching is bad. Changing the way we evaluate players and their stats is bad. IT'S ALL BAD
  15. Playing Doumit in RF when Parmalee is starting to hit is stupid.
  16. I don't think Hicks will ever be able to hit big league pitching from the left side with any consistency and no amount of time in AAA will change that. SOMEONE NEED TO TELL HIM HE'S A RHB!
  17. Scotty doesn't know
  18. I also think it's entirely possible the Morneau will have a power surge in the near future. The other part of this that hasn't been mentioned yet is that if he doesn't show increased power over the remainder of the season or if he spends time on the DL or slumps and his average drops the Twins mite be 1 of very few teams interested in his services next season and beyond. If the Twins play their cards right they might be able to keep him around cheap which I'm sure is the number 1 priority of Captain Cheap-O Terry Ryan.
  19. Parmalee is just pressing too hard. Once he relaxes he will hit much better.
  20. You have to think the Twins planned to be really bad again this season. They must be intent on piling up high draft picks in these years until the wave of talent hits over the late next year and then try to field a competitive team in 2015 and beyond. It sucks for us that the Bill Smith era happened. It sucks for us that 23 million doesn't buy much offensive production for the foreseeable future. It sucks that TR will never bring in quality veteran pitching. When Sano and Buxton and Arcia and Berrios and Meyer and Kepler and May hit the scene it will suck no more.
  21. This was very well written. It's a lesson on writing positive without leaving out the necessary negatives that needed to be mentioned.
  22. I think of Buxton as a right handed Barry Bonds with less power and more speed but very similar skill set. That's really saying something. Then you add in how much better Buxton's character seems to be and you'd have to say the sky is literally the limit.
  23. Assuming Grey and Appel are gone the Twins should take Ball or Bryant. They have to take Bryant if he's there and Ball if he's not. They should stay away from Stewart for multiple reasons. Shipley would be OK but Mcguire would be a huge disappointment.
