  1. This team just feels gutless. Almost worst team batting with RISP and then the bullpen has lost how many games? Was really hoping for a bounceback performance tonight but its another asskicking
  2. This is where I'm at too. Since being 27-16 they have gone 22-26 in their last 48 games. The starters have looked awful since Wes left and the bullpen is still a group that you cannot trust. You thrown in Buxton going 6-52 in his last 13 games and this team desperately needs the All Star Break to re-evaluate. I'm not a big Rocco guy so unless some serious moves are made, I think this team may end up finishing below .500. Really hope I'm wrong
  3. Good point. I was definitely thinking about a team needing another bat and quality defense in the outfield. I wont lie, I have zero clue if any team in baseball that has a chance to make the playoffs is looking for a guy like him, but the Rays wanted Nelson Cruz so there's certainly a chance.
  4. I'd also be willing if the big leaguer was Kepler. In June his slash line was .210/.316/.333. So far in July it is .100/.280/.250. Max wasnt anything special in 2021 and was bad in 2020. I'd be alright with parting with him to get a quality arm.
  5. Ryan was pulled early because of many things. For one, he threw 85 pitches and that seems to be the new 100 threshold. Second, his velocity was down. Lastly, he was kinda all over the place with control. I didnt watch all of it, but that's what I noticed when I did watch. As stated in another thread, I think he just needs to regain his strength from COVID. We have seen that with multiple players in multiple sports...hopefully he returns to early season form in a bit.
  6. I think the reason a lot of fans get frustrated is because they know how talented the White Sox are and how hot they can get. The entire first half of the year this team has blown high probability leads/wins. I know I am frustrated because I truly think we should have a double digit lead on the division. I don't know who deserves blame the most, but Rocco drives me absolutely nuts with the constant changes in the batting order and how he manages pitchers. I try to cut him some slack because of how many good pitchers we have on the IL and because Falvey totally disregarded the bullpen in the offseason, but I still find myself shaking my head. While it's frustrating the team didnt score in the 10th, they scored 8 runs and regained the lead 4 different times in game 3 of the Sox series. I do think Jhoan should have come back out in the 10th, especially with having yesterday off. Rocco said he didnt play Correa because he wanted to give him two days off, well why not go another inning with Jhoan knowing he had the next day off? Since getting to 27-16 on May 24th, the team is 20-22. I don't think you can expect to win the division going .500 for the rest of the year. I could be wrong, but losses like that (and ones to Cleveland) are huge
  7. I truly think Covid threw him off. He was awesome the first 8 games, but his velocity is down quite a bit since coming back. I hope he just needs a little more time to regain his strength which will hopefully then get his control back. I wasnt able to watch a lot of him yesterday, but I did see a few 89 mph 4 seamers. I'll remain optimistic on him
  8. This is where I'm at too. This team does not need Sano as their bats are already inconsistent and throwing in the ultimate hot and cold hitter is probably not the best idea. I think we should hope he destroys it the next 17 days and is traded for an arm
  9. Thanks for sharing that info...I always get worked up in the stat line instead of comparing to catchers in general. The thing that frustrates me is when he is the DH. Why not Kyle Garlick instead of him? Jeffers hasn't been DH in a ton of games (6 apparently), but the thought of someone with poor OBP and OBP playing DH drives me nuts. Leave DH for Buxton, Garlick, Miranda, Sanchez, and Kepler
  10. Teams are absolutely using statcast data during games. To answer some of the earlier posts, no it's not just a Twins thing and I am not saying it's just a Rocco thing. What I am saying is our starters have a top 5-7 team ERA, but rank near the bottom for starters innings pitched and pitches thrown. The Twins relievers have blown many games, so it's very simple to look at that and say it would make sense to try and get another out or two from your starter.
  11. This narrative is used a lot for folks who think Rocco manages a pitching staff well, especially because there is a small sample size of Bundy going that late. He has a 3.60 ERA in the 5th and 6th innings, but has only pitched a combined 15 innings during those two. It worked out last night because the bullpen pitched well, but 58 pitches for your starter who had a good outing is still questionable to me.
  12. I would like to see a trade made now for an arm or two. The Twins have a ton of talent in the infield (Gio, Correa, Arraez, Polanco, Kirilloff, Miranda, Lewis next year, and then Nick Gordon at times). What's the point of keeping Austin Martin then? Also, what's the point of keeping both Gordon and Polanco. I understand that we like them all and it's great to have depth, but what good is depth when your bullpen blows the lead every other game?
  13. Trying to replicate the Rays strategy is all fine and dandy, but only when you have the arms to do so. I think this team is a solid group, but I am tired of the pitching strategy. Rocco needs to look at extending the amount our starters pitch and here are some stats on this: Our starters have the 7th best ERA in baseball yet pitch the 5th fewest innings of any team. The starters average 78 pitches per game and only 3 teams have a lower average. In fact, only 28 times have our starters thrown between 80-99 pitches, which is by far the lowest amount. The MLB Average for Teams who bring in a relief pitcher with a lead is 114 (Doesnt equal games because of multiple pitchers) yet the Twins are at 152 which is easily the most in baseball. Bottom line, stats show our starters are good, yet we continue to think the bullpen will hold the lead? Let's try going longer with the guys who start the game, Rocco.
