Not sure I agree with the "quite a haul" part for Polanco, but Julien is going to be a very solid player. His bat won't be a problem at all, and his defense is tremendously improved. It's obvious that he really works on that aspect. He needs to stay in the lineup against lefties too. I wish Rocco would figure that out.
Louie has been a tremendous let down, but the rest of the team isn't much better. They're all bad right now. I'd give Varland one more start, and if he gets hammered again, it's time to get him outta the rota.
If Louie gets thumped again tonight, replacing him in the rota is something they better be thinking about. I just don't know if Varland is cut out to be a starter. He hasn't shown much in that capacity, but he was great in the pen at the end of last season.
CC is more than likely going IL, and depending on the severity of the strain, he could be gone a month or more. We're in deep trouble. The injuries are just killing us. Somehow, we have to play .500 ball until guys start to come back.
They're both terrible. Why we signed Santana is beyond me, and we blew the chance to trade Kepler before this season started. He wouldn't get us a bag of chips in a trade now.
Pulling Ober was absolutely the wrong move...and it bit us on the butt right away. I don't like very many of the moves that Baldelli makes, and his decisions tend to backfire a lot more than they work. We're going to be in the soup once LA leaves town and we go on the road to Det and Balt. We could be out of the race by the end of April.
We've got LA coming to town for three, then we go on the road to Det and Balt for the next seven. Unless we figure out what to do at the plate, we could absolutely get buried...and it'll be a long climb to get out of it.
