  1. The Rays are a very good team and have been for years, but they don't draw worth a damn down there. They've been trying to get a new baseball stadium built there forever, and if they ever do, no one will go to that either. If there's a worse ballpark than the Metrodome was, the Trop is it.
  2. Unless he's gonna come here and teach 4 or 5 players how to hit consistently and not strike out, what difference does it make?
  3. My two cents...this current group is a very long way from being a solid, competitive team. We're starting guys night in and night out, that would have a hard time making the AAA roster for a lot of other teams in the majors. Injuries certainly have something to do with that, but not in all cases. For some reason, we've always had an inordinate number of injuries. Other players have underperformed for years. Some, if not all, of this dead wood has to go. The players that we're counting on to lead this team and perform well...have been complete disappointments so far. What is the core reason for all of this? Is it the FO? Is it the manager and coaching staff? Is is solely on the players? What is going on here? There's no doubt that changes have to be made, and made soon. We're in the worst division in all of baseball, and we're barely keeping our head above water. When we play good teams, they dominate us. At what point do you blow this thing up? It's disappointing and embarrassing at times, to watch this team on the field.
  4. Dick just mentioned that Arraez is now at .401.
  5. TB is a damn good team from top to bottom, with a smart manager. They're pretty much clicking on all cylinders. They're gonna be tough to beat.
  6. Wouldn't be surprised if the potential roster move, was Garlick going back down.
  7. I bet another big bump in salary too.
  8. Like a lot of you, I jumped off the Kep bandwagon a long time ago. At this point, I doubt that he'd bring much return, in terms of a trade. That window is closed. We should have traded him last season, or before this one. Waiting until this years deadline isn't a solution...something has to be done asap. I really think the best thing to do, would be to DFA him. I don't know if our FO is willing to eat the remainder of his contract. I honestly wonder if there's something wrong with his eyes? When he's at bat, he's continually blinking and seems to be straining his eyes waiting for the pitch. In any event, it's way past time to get someone else out there. It's too bad...he seems like a decent guy, and I don't think anyone has ever heard a bad word about him, but it's time to move on.
  9. This is a .500 team. If they can even manage to do that. Changes need to be made. We have to get these kids up here from StP and plug them in. Kepler won't be here next season, but he absolutely has to be benched now. He's hurting us at the plate tremendously. He's a defensive replacement only. Somehow, Correa and Buxton have to figure it out and begin hitting closer to what their norms are. MAT can't be our everyday CF, Buxton has to play some out there. The starting pitching has been great, but the pen is very shaky except for Duran. Hopefully Jax will turn it around. This team just has some kind of malaise about it. I know they're all trying, but the results are lacking right now.
  10. I always thought that Dougie baseball had a decent future ahead of him as a manager. Now, I'm not so sure he'll ever get back into baseball again. If he keeps doing this kind of stuff, the choice probably won't be his. He also needs to fire his maid.
  11. If Buxton's knee isn't 100% completely healed, then there is some sense to him being the DH. If he's really healthy, there's no reason to keep him at DH full time. He could play CF at least some of the time. We can't go thru the season with MAT as the regular CF. Sure, he can field the position, but his bat is very limited. There are too many holes in this lineup already, without MAT in there. We really have two guys that should be no more than late inning defensive replacements...Mat and Kepler.
  12. Can't predict a guy getting drilled in the ribs with a 97 mph heater.
  13. Let's face it...he was never going to be the second coming of Johnny Bench, but it would be nice if he hits a little bit better than he has. His defense has been fine so far. I think we give it some more time and see if he picks it up at the plate going forward. Meantime, give Jeffers more time in the lineup. Maybe a 50-50 split,
  14. Thanks Brock. I hope that's the way it goes down. I just have this feeling that it'll get screwed up here in MN, like everything else seems to.
  15. What exactly does all this mean? For an old dope like me, this is too complicated and too hard for me to figure out. What channel, or source, will I be able to watch the games on? I get BSN on Spectrum cable now.
  16. It's time to move on from Kepler, and put Wallner out in RF. We have to get these young guys playing in the majors.
  17. Did I miss something? Did CC "come on" overnight? I have no doubt that he'll start to pick it up relatively soon, but he's not doing much yet.
  18. I just hope that we ALL have some kind of reasonable option to watch the games...whatever that might be. I guess we should find out something soon.
  19. I'm all for dazzle taking an extended vacation...but not for Atteberry to take over. For me, he's like fingernails on a chalkboard including all the cliches
  20. What if I'm not particularly impressed? Somehow, they're over .500...the smoke and mirrors seem to be working, along with our starting pitchers. The hitting has been putrid, and the bullpen is all over the place. Who knows what the manager is going to do on any given day. It looks to me, like an 81-81 team, and I hope that we're even that good. Amazingly, that could be enough to win the division. Hard to believe, but very true.
  21. I believe it's much more likely, that we're going to be in a position to be "sellers" rather than "buyers". In any event, I doubt we'd be making a move for any of those players mentioned in the article.
  22. This is a .500...or possibly below that...team. They can't hit consistently, and they have a very shaky pen. The starting pitchers have been great, but that might be hard to continue thru an entire season. You're just not going to win games on a consistent basis, when you score 1, 2, or 3 runs a game. It's not going to happen. I'm not smart enough to come up with a solution, but this team isn't going anywhere as it's constructed right now.
  23. Buxton in CF? Not gonna happen. I sure hope he's fine and nothing serious happened with his knee, but I believe when he comes back, he's the DH for the duration. Even though he didn't get hurt playing the outfield, they won't take a chance on putting him out there. That's just the way it's gonna be.
  24. Just saw that Polanco is going on the IL.
  25. If all you're going to use him for, are low leverage/mop up situations, then I'd be ok with keeping him around for a little longer. No way can he be trusted in a situation like yesterday, no matter what the availability is of other pen arms. He will absolutely let the team down in anything other than mop up duty. Preferably, I'd LOVE to see him elsewhere, but for some reason this FO wants to keep him here. He really needs a fresh start on another team, and we need to be rid of him.
