  1. Today I learned that the Twins post game radio show has a segment called "the silver lining" - "The Silver Lining highlight brought to you by West End insurance"
  2. "…Cedar Rapids roster is full of incredible talent, and prospects" seems you meant Chatanooga
  3. I'm crying over losing Santana. I'm not crying over the choice of Pelfrey and the crying that is going on over it is way out of proportion. It does not take much to call someone up from AAA it could be done after two starts. Letting May and Meyer start in AAAA where they can get comfortable with their pitches before being called up is not a bad strategy and it is fortunate the Twins hqv enough depth to use that strategy. You all are whining about Terry Ryan's choice to not call up May and Meyer - They would not even be in the organization if it were not for choices Ryan made.
  4. Probably time enough to get over Torri's press conference.
  5. Ok. Big Jacque Jones fan, appreciate this article but this is not even close to a true top 5 list for Jacque Jones. His two home run game in September 2003 against Bartolo Colon and the White Sox, breaking up Freddy Garcia's no-hitter with an 0-2 homerun in the 7th inning in August 2005 (the Twins lone hit of a 1-0 victory), his 2-out 9th inning game tying homeun off David Riske in game 2 of 2004 (the game Joe Mauer got hurt and the Twins would win in 15 innings), walk off homerun off kf Billy Koch July 2003, solo homerun off Mike Mussina in game 1 of 2004 LDS (the last Twins playoff victory, a 2-0 win), his 2 RBI double off Ted Lilly in Game 1 of the 2002 LDS which capped a five-run comeback. This list is embareassingly short. It's a nice defensive play you put in here but t doesn't really do justice to his defensive prowess.
  6. Question: Were Hunter's defensive numbers in 2013 as bad as his 2014 numbers? Also, could the fact that Comerica park has a huge right field, especially in the gap, play into his poor numbers at all? I remember reading in one of Parker's articles that Torii was horrible in some statistic that measured balls hit over 200 ft that were turned into outs. I wonder if that stat incorporates balls that end up going over the fence or if it discludes them altogether figuring that the fielderr never had a chance to turn it into an out. If that were the case it would mean that playing in a spacious right field would be a disadvantage because less balls would land over the fence where as if you're playing in Yankee Stadium balls that might hit the warning track or land in Detroit would go over the fence and not be included into the metric. Anyway maybe this is the wrong article to ask about this but I'm wondering if someone can shed light on these things I don't really know how to analyze the statistics or even where to find them. But these are things I'm wondering about if someone would like to indulge me. Thanks for the nice article I prefer overtly naïve optimism in the off-season personally. Go Twins, bring that AL Central title back home where it belongs!
  7. "re-signed Capps in 2012 and Carl Willis in 2005" Suppose it is only a matter of time before someone points out here that Carl Willis was the pitching coach for Cleveland in 2005. Maybe you meant 1995?
  8. Torii Hunter's OPS+ last year was 114. Jordan Schaefer's was 75. Josh Willingham's was 96. Jason Kubel's was 73. Is it really so far fetched to ascertain that adding Hunter is an increase in outfield production for this team?
  9. The Twins have always looked at WHIP.
  10. You are a true hero of the offseason.
