  1. That may not be enough. Throw in Ober and Topa and KC won't laugh as loud.
  2. Am I the only person that can't stand in game interviews?
  3. 428 in St Cloud also. I didn't have to sign up. Just turned on 428 and there it was. Either there isn't an extra fee or I am already at the level that it is included.
  4. Paul Molitor is one of just two Hall of Fame players to be named Manager of the Year. Can you name the other one? Frank Robinson won MVP with Reds and Orioles. Manager of the year with Orioles in '89
  5. Where's the Waite Park Granite City location? I can't recall one there.
  6. I was at that game. Still have the 4X6 glossy picture of Eddie they handed out to the fans as we entered Met Stadium. Seems to me 40,000 fans were in attendance to see the next Whitey Ford!
  7. Great article. I remember when Steve Braun came up in 1971. Bob Allison was doing color commentary on WTCN Channel 11. Bob was overly excited about Steve's prospects, called him Stevie Wonder! Bob had just retired after the 1970 season and his uniform #4 was reissued to Braun. Joining Bob in the booth was Frank Buetel doing play by play. Halsey Hall would join them for a few innings leaving the radio booth. There were less than 50 games televised in those days.
  8. I probably should have found a solo picture of Charles Nelson Reilly, game show contestant extroidinaire. Kudos on naming the woman in the first photo. I had no idea who that was
  9. Can we fact check here? You're thinking of Radar O'Reilly played by Gary Burghoff on M.A.S.H. THIS IS Charles Nelson Reilly.
  10. Problem I see is new owners would probably want to move the team to Nashville, Portland, Charlotte or some other city
  11. Don't hold your breath. The only significant changes will be parting with players expiring contracts. Kepler, Santana, Margot, Thielbar etc.
  12. Suppose Varland gets the seventh ?
  13. I agree odd choice. I would have thought Louie Varland would have been sent down as his performance has been atrocious.
  14. So you'd trade 17 runs for the Reds tonight for the Twins being shutout tomorrow?
  15. Number of games Correa, Buxton and Lewis have played together!
  16. True, but I think most on TD only remember the four Twins managers in their lifetime. Cookie Lavagetto, the Twins first manager in 61, who only lasted a half season, wins the best name contest - hands down.
  17. Note Oliva did win the batting title in 1971, his "aging" was accelerated by a knee injury that year.
  18. Rigney wasn't a bad manager, in fact he came with a strong resume. He won the division in 1970, despite losing Rod Carew early in the season to injury. It did help that Harmon Killebrew, Tony Olivia and Jim Perry all had career years. In 1971, those three all seemed to age quickly. The biggest knock on Rigney was he replaced popular Billy Martin, who won the division in 1969 with virtually the same team as 1970. Martin and Calvin Griffith's feud was legendary in Twins territory. Martin went to have a very successful managerial career that didn't help Rigney's popularity.
  19. I think Correa is done for the year.
  20. Varland faces the top of the order one less time.
  21. Sounds delicious. I would add black beans
