  1. Chris Colabello! I am in the minority in thinking he could be a valuable part of this team as a 1B/DH for the next 4-5 years?
  2. Free Colabello! Feel like he has earned an extended stint with the big club. Hope they trade away one or two of the veteran hitters and bring him up. Nice outing by Berrios.
  3. Nice analogy, well put.
  4. I'm guessing you, Chief. But I would have been all for it. How in the world did the Twins conclude that they should choose: Diamond, Deduno, Walters, Pelfrey, Correia, DeVries, and even Worley over Liriano?
  5. I wonder what it would take to get Liriano? 29 years old, more than a K/inning, 2.30 ERA, almost 3:1 K/BB. Seems like he is pretty good.
  6. Ok, good to know. I was just going on memory of a team signing a bunch of college seniors for $10K in order to build up pool money last year, so that is only possible in the first 10 rounds? Sets up a weird incentive to have cheap picks early, and expensive picks in round 11+.
  7. Transferring my comment from your original post: Great piece. The data you have presented, while barely over the threshold of small sample size, show two things: 1)Mauer is swinging at more pitches, and 2)Mauer has shifted where he hits the ball up in the spectrum; more fly balls/line-drives at the expense of ground balls. The question is whether he is changing his swing path to more of an uppercut, or swinging at more higher pitches? (Or another explanation...returned leg strength?) One note...this is the first year he would have had the opportunity to work with Brunansky....maybe he's changed his approach slightly due to that?
  8. Saw him play in DC today...massive homer in his first at bat, and a big game. Glad he is doing well.

  10. Hits for the cycle in his first 7 ABs...
  11. Thought exactly the same thing when I read that name.
  12. Seth just commented that he is a Top 10 prospect. Hard to say so early, but a pretty exciting start!
  13. So Minier has hit for the cycle in his first 7 professional ABs, going 2-3 with two walks on Saturday morning. He's slugging 1.428 through two games, and has a .667 OBP.
  14. Here: http://twinsdaily.com/adopt-prospect-2013/6105-german-amaurys-minier.html
  15. Nice to see my Adopt-A-Prospect getting some game action finally. Here's my page on him: Adopt A Prospect 2013 (which admittedly has been pretty dull so far.) Interesting to see you say Top 10, Seth. Twins have a pretty deep Top Ten...are you thinking he has better potential than, say, Jorge Polanco?
  16. If Tanner Vavra got $1K, wouldn't they still have $154K to spread around?
  17. Do Alex Burnett and Anthony Slama also have nothing to do with each other? Please educate me with your wisdom!
  18. It is somehow poetic that the Twins replace Slama with someone who has spent four seasons in AAA with higher walk rates and worse overall numbers than Slama.
  19. Alex Burnett would be another comparison. Skipped AAA enitirely, and given a long leash in the majors, despite questionable performance.
  20. Anthony Slama deserved better. Aaron Hicks had an inconsistent minor-league career, skipped AAA entirely, and struggled mightily upon his arrival in the majors, and yet was never sent down, even after more than two months of poor overall performance (albeit trending in the right direction). Slama, on the other hand, was consistently dominant throughout his minors career, stayed at AAA for a long time, and got yanked almost immediately upon struggling when he got to the majors, never to be given another chance, while numerous players with much worse results and track records were. The Twins brass kept saying stuff about how Hicks had "earned it.". But the Twins organization seems pretty hypocritical, given this sort of unequal treatment of its organizational players.
  21. If you want to take Boldt like the Red Sox did, and want to sign college seniors at $50K or whatever to make it happen, why not pick Boldt in the 7th round in place of one of those college seniors? I'm not sure I get the difference?
  22. Wasn't Denney considered as a possible top-15 pick? I know nothing about these players, but having Boldt and Denney in the board with only three teams picking ahead of them...I'm guessing at least one of them will be there for the Twins taking.
  23. I second the "draft coverage sucks" thought.
  24. I think you should have given it to Buxton, he was amazing this year. Just jokin...
  25. He gets my vote. I don't have one, however.
