  1. Plus, by voiding his cheap 2017 option, wouldn't that work better for him? Wouldn't he want to hit the free agent market after this season?
  2. Doesn't seem like he's leveraging it...just using it to pick places he doesn't like.
  3. That is wild. Can't remember every hearing of that happen before. And here I was thinking now that Lucroy was off the market, Suzuki would be able to be moved. I suppose that Suzuki to the Indians would work.
  4. All deals, concluded or yet to be concluded, Twins or non Twins are fair game. I'll get things started: Hats Off To Antony For Trading NunezRicky Don't Lose Our NumberThe Sale Has ShippedSuzuki Gets Axe By TwinsThere IS Such Thing As Abad Deal
  5. If Antony trades all of Nolasco's contract for Sierra and Austin Barnes, we might have to think hard about having him stay on as GM. Barnes seems like the best catching scenario out there. Philly is the other team with catching depth, but they aren't buyers. So the Dodgers are the best bet. I hope that Antony is trying hard to acquire him. Great article, by the way. Really interesting proposals. (Clevinger ideas sound great.)
  6. I just think it might be worthwhile cornering the Adalberto market.
  7. Did Nolasco create a teeny-tiny glimmer of a market with his start last night? Eight shutout innings, plus a standard-issue lead-off homer?
  8. Hmmm....Royals SS prospect Raul Adalberto Mondesi.
  9. Does anyone recall that there was some sort of vote amongst the brass/management over Meyer starting again? Felt like Molitor wanted him in the pen. Now that TR is gone, is it possible that vote has changed? Maybe I am misremembering. Not that it matters, if he can't get healthy. Of course, if he had gotten a fair shot at starting, maybe he would be healthy now.
  10. While some are hoping that Antony's comments that he is disinclined to trade Santana is just a ploy to build value, I think that is unrealistic. Antony is a TR disciple. TR didn't let much out about his process, but when he did, it was signals about players he was not trading (Willingham, Suzuki). Antony has mentioned Nunez, Suzuki Abad and Kintzler as likely trades. But not Santana. So I am going to be very surprised if Santana moves. It's too bad, too, because he is the Twins' best trade chip. The argument that he has two moderate years left on his contract makes him just that much more valuable. A Cashner-like return from the Dodgers org would be well worth it.
  11. Feels like years since I have liked a trade deadline move by a Twins GM.
  12. Approve. Sell high, clear space for blocked MI prospect, add (left handed) pitching prospect. Win, win, and win. Next.
  13. That's a pretty fascinating commentary. (Not really an interview.). I was very impressed by his outing and also by his focus on improvement. Think he is going to show steady improvement in next couple of years.
  14. It's because we are watching the development of players like Buxton and Kepler.
  15. You mean Danny Santana, Twins left fielder?
  16. First we have to get him going with an Axe Bat
  17. If Foltynewicz isn't careful he may screw up his chance to get traded to a playoff team tonight...
  18. I want the whole team to start using the Axe Bat.
  19. The Braves got on a nice hot streak before the All Star Game. Speaking of the Braves, what would it take to get Teheran?
  20. I like the idea of pursuing Profar and think their needs, their surplus, and the Twins needs and trade chip matches nicely. I earlier suggested Santana and Suzuki for Profar, but was scoffed at. Your suggestion of adding Nunez, Abad AND Stewart is certainly increasing the offer. Maybe something between those two extremes?
  21. I'm trying to work out the arbitrage situation here. If I offer to pay the team's remaining salary obligation on this hypothetical Nolasco deal, and put down $700K on your action, I'll come out ahead, right?

  23. I forgot to put the date on the gamethread title. Can you do that, Chief?
